We reworked the Auto Group Join plugin so it worked with our Buddpress 1.3 install. We had kept it private as it seemed it wasn’t in demand. Someone had PM me about it, so we decided to post it the database. While we were at it, we decided to add one other plugin that we were using to help moderate and move incorrectly placed topics from one group to another.

Hey twodeuces.. Does your auto join only work on WPMU?

It is currently tested on WPMU, but let me double check on the single user side.

No it does not as the plugin add on menu resides in the Site Admin section. We are going to move it to the BuddyPress Control Section and get it working on singel users as well. It will be nice when the MU and normal wordpress merge.

We are actually waiting for WordPress 3.0 to come out and the subsequent Buddypress to arrive before updating this to be Single User compatible. If anyone would like to help port this over before hand, I’ll gladly help out where I can.

@twodeuces the instructions have a typo: … if (function_exist( …should be … if (function_exists( … else (as you would know but for anyone searching for this … ) following instructions results in Fatal error: Call to undefined function function_exist() …

@twodeuces – Nice job! It’s always nice though to attribute the original work. Also, it should be quite easy to add your admin menu to the existing BP admin menu without waiting for the 3.0 merge.

I am the co-author of the original and I love seeing things improved so I look forward to taking a look. I’ll be the first to admit it was not clean code and we had a lot of our own hard coded urls in it. You talk about BP 1.3 which doesn’t exist so could you clarify? My version works on my 1.2.3 install just fine so I am also curious what you tweaked.

@twodeuces I’m not sure that the change of menu will matter with WP 3.0. The various menus are still the same from what I’ve seen.

@twodeuces: I modified your plugin code so that it depends only on BP, not WPMU. And I also made it so that it doesn’t matter if the site is single blog or multiblog.

There used to be plugin that would auto join a member to a group based on a profile field… however that plugin does not work with the current version of WP/BP. Any chance of adding this feature to your plugin?

We have updated Auto Group Join plugin to version 2.0.2 to work with WordPress 3.0!
