    +1

    @francescolaffi – Do you want to extend BPAlbum+ into some sort of BPMedia if you awarded the contract for GSoC?

    Would this be overlap with BPLinks? It seems MrMaz is also tending into the direction of a complete Media Plugin.

    What would be if the Like plugin adds a global “Like” Directory with Filters such as “Most Recent – Top in 24 Hr – 7 Days – 30 Days – 365 Days”.

    This would definately help to find the most interesting content and would give “Like” a more concrete and useful sense.

    Maybe we could talk to Andy if the “Favorite” Button could be renamed in “Bookmark” – so they wouldn’t conflict with “Like” anymore?

    I don’t know how ambitious Hempsworth is to enhance “Buddypres Like” in this direction?

    or the photos you uploaded to a group could atomagically appear on your album as “Group Name – Album”.

    Why should a user go back to his profile if he is allready on the groups page and wants to upload a picture to that group?

    I really like to follow your development and i raelly appriciate how transparent you’re keeping the developmet and how much your are listining to the demands of us users.

    Keep it up this way!

    I wrote a short user story:

    1) An administrator: I would like to see all albums even if they set to private or not. I would like to hide pictures with inappropriate content. They shouldn’t be visible for site members anymore, but the owner should see them darkened out with a message overlaying the picture “This picture was removed due to inappropriate content” – something like this.

    2) An anonymous user off the Internet: Should only be able to see the “public” pictures.

    3) A logged-in member viewing their own profile: Should have an Main Menu Item “Albums” or even better “Photos” that shows all of his pictures and all pictures of his friends (newest Uploads on top – so they can easily discover whats new). There should be an “Upload Photos” button on this page (After clicking you will be ask if you would like to upload a single picture or if you would like to create an album). The Page should also hold a subnav with some Options as “Photos of my friends – Photos i’m tagged on – My uploaded Photos – Upload Photos”

    4) A logged-in member viewing a friend’s profile: Should have an Main Menu Item “Albums/Photos” with all of the photos uploaded by “John Doe” and a subnav with “Photos John Doe is tagged on”.

    5) A logged-in member viewing a stranger’s profile: Should have an Main Menu Item “Albums/Photos” with all public pictures the “stranger” uploaded.

    I was also thinking of pictures uploaded to groups. I guess it should be enough if there would be an “Album/Photos” Menu Item in the mainnav of the group. This page should hold all group pictures and an “Upload Photos” button.

    That should be enough for the beginning.

    @foxly: Any news about the upcoming beta?

    I would add one more feature – Enable an Album Tab in Groups, so that users can post a picture to a “Group Album” instead to their own user album.

    I’m excited for the new realease today! Keep up the awesome work!

    I agree with Xevo. Instead of more features usability should be the most important issue currently.

    Andy mentioned it allready here: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/bp-album-new-features-requests-and-discussion/page/2#post-43485

    Honestly though, before adding any bells and whistles, just make sure that uploading/editing/deleting a photo and album works perfectly. That’s the main thing.

    – Upload one or multiple images in one go.

    – Allow the creation of albums, add/move/delete photos in albums and albums themselves.

    – Allow photo attachments on activity stream posts – extend the activity stream posting interface.

    If that works perfect, i would also like to see new features, but only from then on.

    Yep, friend notifications …

    @21cdb

    It happened to me as well – same scenario as modemlooper has been described. I could get rid of the notification by clicking on the “friends” tab in the user menu.

    Great work so far!

    I second Modemlooper, Travel-Junkie and paulhastings.

    I would be also great if the Navigation Tab would called Photos and show single albums as well as albums. I like how facebook highlights albums with a different frame compared to Single Pictures.

    Wow, thats sounds great! Does it work for Links only, or will it also be possible to upload pictures? I’m a bit confused about it, but anyway good to here that you find a way to extend the functionality of the activity stream post box!

    Do you have any plans to include Events to your plugin?

    @21cdb

    What about image upload from within the “Whats new John Doe” Box on the Activity Streams, similar to this idea:

    https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/attachments-for-activity-items

    @21cdb

    Participant

    @mike that would clearly accomplish the main goal of this idea. I totally agree with you that forums are the best way to have complex and ordered discussions.

    The reason i posted this idea as “Forums based on Activity-Items (instead of bbPress)” and not just as “Frontpage Forum Posts” is that i thought it would be great if the forums could directly benefit from improvements on the Activity Stream Technology in the future.

    For instance if there would be “Global Content Tagging” (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/global-content-tagging) and “Attachments for Activity Items” (https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/attachments-for-activity-items) added in a future version of BP the forums could directly benefit of this features, because they were build with the same technology. This should be valid for plugins too. I know this would be a big step, certainly with some drawbacks at the beginnig, but overall i believe this would be more straight forward and future proof.

    This sounds really intersting! I haven’t checked ur plugin yet, but i’ll definitely do so in the next few days.

    I have one idea for a future version: A directory that shows the Items with most likes (6hours, Today, Week, Year)

    I believe this would help people to filter through most important news on a crowded network.

    @Xevo – i don’t know if it’s due to my bad english, but whether or not you misunderstood what i was trying to say. Please read again – i never said that “polls” are gonna be core, nor said Erich they should be a plugin :)

    I only mentioned facebook to invalidate the saying that a “User-Blogs-Posts from Front-end”-Feature

    should definitely be within Core and are essential to run a Social-Network-website

    You can’t generalize such needs, but a poll could show up what most people are looking for.

    @21cdb

    Participant

    I don’t need User-Blogs-Posts from Front-end neither does Facebook and i guess they know how to run a Social-Network!

    That doesn’t mean i wouldn’t like to have User-Blogs-Posts from Front-end, it’s just not important for my website, because i turned the Blogs component off. Thats my personal taste, my own opinion.

    Humans always looking out for their own interests, thats natural behaviour, but we should always keep in mind to respect interests of the public and of the parties concerned as well.

    A poll is a great way to determine what the public needs are. I believe it will give the main developers good impressions in which directions they should focus in the future.

    So what do you fear about a poll?

    @21cdb

    I guess there will be exactly something like that. http://www.buddypress.de “sucks” because no one is responsible since Dennis left Inspyde (the guys behind buddypress.de). If you are interested in collaboration you could join the community and become a moderator ore something like that.

    As DJPaul mentioned anyone can edit the codex pages (as you can see i did it for german language site).

    You can find the “edit” link in the bottom left corner once you are logged in.

    i’m really looking forward for the de.buddypress.org site. I’m gonna write Dennis if he needs some help. Hope to see you involved too.

    Hey Erich73,

    it’s Dennis who is working on the 1.2 version. He isn’t hired at Inspyde anymore, but keeps up the work. He is also working on the official new german buddypress site https://de.buddypress.org/

    I also would like to see some collaboration tool for the laguage files.

    To clarify that – u could just type on, no one would force u to use the suggestions. In my opinion Javascript isn’t bad as long as u aren’t forced to have it on in order to use the website. The suggestion box isn’t needed to use @mentions but it would be more user friendly. I only see benefits …

    Just figured out the solution. I forgot to exclude BP_REGISTER_SLUG from (!is_logged_in):

    This solution works for me (put it in bp-custom.php)

    function restrict_access() {

    global $bp, $bp_unfiltered_uri;

    if (!is_user_logged_in() && (BP_REGISTER_SLUG != $bp->current_component )) {

    //bp_core_redirect( $bp->root_domain );
    bp_core_redirect( $bp->root_domain . '/' . BP_REGISTER_SLUG );

    }
    }

    add_action( 'wp', 'restrict_access', 3 );
