Do you have ‘pretty permalinks’? This is a buddypress requirement.

Alternatively have you re-saved your permalinks ( just visiting the permalinks should do the trick but if not try saving them again )

I don’t want people to create groups, I want them to create projects.
So it’s not only the page title I have to change, it’s everything that is group related.

You might find google search better. Preface your query with site:buddypress.org to search this site only. ie site:buddypress.org change avatar

The gravatar upload works for me with bp 1.7.2. I can click on browse and then the upload button. Once uploaded I can crop the image.

Have you tried the usual troubleshooting of disabling all plugins and changing theme to either bp default or 2012 and see if it works. If so then re-enable individually until you find the culprit….

WordPress and buddypress use a system of language files which can be edited with a special editor such as poedit. Although there is a bit of a learing curve it should be easier than editing individual text strings…

The sentence you refer to is found in the buddypress.pot language file. see : https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.7.2/bp-languages/buddypress.pot#L5160 – This core file should not be edited. The first link explains what should be done instead.

The 2nd link was if you wanted to change a ‘slug’….
