In reply to: New Groupblog Plugin
@Boone Gorges
Nice work
For our implementation of this I ended up writing some (very sloppy) code to sort this out, but your solution looks to be miles better. It will be very useful in future.
In reply to: Group Wiki Plugin (not a release, but in progress)@Boone Gorges
Initially I wanted to have the wiki pages privacy completely controlled by the group privacy level but unfortunately we have a need to be able to ‘unhide’ individual wiki pages so in the implementation we’re working on pages will be individually controlled via the group wiki admin page.
As stated above, I completely agree. Whilst the work we’re doing at the moment will involve mediawiki I think it’s highly likely that I’ll simultaneously (though at a much slower pace) work on something similar to you’re describing in your last post.
In reply to: Group Wiki Plugin (not a release, but in progress)Perhaps we should think about what exactly we want it to do – I’d love to work together as long as we all have a solid plan for features/etc

I’ve probably not explained our feature set that well above (and to be honest, it’s still in a state of flux) but it closely matches what I would like to do in a ‘proper’ wiki inplementation. I guess I basically want it to be very buddypress-groups-focussed and I also have a strong aversion to the WP backend so ideally all editing will be done within the buddypress frontend.
In reply to: Group Wiki Plugin (not a release, but in progress)I’ll comment more later but I completely agree with you nexia. I’m possibly going to go that route with a seperate plugin developed in my own time..
In reply to: Group Wiki Plugin (not a release, but in progress)We’re using mediawiki at the moment. I was considering just creating a basic wiki from scratch (as I belive it would be a similar amount of work and achieve a better result) but other people involved in the project thought it was best to stick with the already partially integrated mediawiki due to the time constraints on the project… Which is fair enough, we’re running in quite a tight timeframe.
The reason we’ve gone for fck is that it’s available as a plugin to mediawiki already. It wouldn’t be my first choice if it weren’t for that.
Unfortunately there are a lot of constraints on what we can do due to limited time and work-based politics. We’ve had to fight hard to not be stuck using Confluence wiki within Blackboard, despite the fact that the student take up in just 4 months has literally been 300 times greater in our first Buddypress system compared to a similar attempt using Blackboard. (changed wording a little to make it slightly more anonymous)
In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default theme@Andy Peatling
Ah…sorry to spam you somewhat but I was also wondering if there were any plans to enable easy “quoting” within the forums with this theme/BP version (or a future theme/etc). We’ve finally convinced ourselves that flat forums are good but I think we’re definitely going to have to get some sort of quoting mechanism working.
edit:
I’ve just seen this post: http://testbp.org/groups/buddypress-testers-614548248//forum/topic/forum-or-wire-with-comments/
Hopefully I’ll be able to get that sorted as a plugin sometime soon.
In reply to: New BuddyPress 1.2 default themeBrilliant. Thanks for the clarification

I don’t suppose you could give us any info in regards to the planned widget options for the site? It would be quite nice to be able to specify different widgets for some pages (for example, the group pages/group components) but from the sounds of what you’re aiming at in terms of a site with a consistent interface, that might not be what you’re going for.
Obviously we can mod anything we need in but the lazy and selfish part of me hopes that you’re designing stuff exactly as I want it :p
edit:
Also thought I’d mention that it might be nice to change the theme so that clicking on your avatar also directs you to your profile page (in addition to clicking on your name). Several of our users have requested this. As before, we can mod this in if need be, but it seems like something that would be a nice feature for most installations.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdateIndeed. It’s not that hard for anyone to setup a test BP installation – there’s no need for Jeff to run a demo when he’s already done tons of work on the privacy component

I’ll be playing with this in the coming week I think. Is there anything missing from it that you don’t have time to work on at the moment? I suspect we’ll need to modify it slightly so if we can do that in a way that would save you a bit of work…
In reply to: Activity CommentingI have been testing this and playing with it in the past few days. It seems pretty damn good, if you don’t mind me saying so
We have quite a few possible uses in mind and will be releasing some (very simple) plugins to build on the functionality a little once this becomes a stable release.I haven’t had any problems similar to those you have mentioned. Have you double-checked the wp_bp_activity_user_activity_cached table to make sure that the activities you are ‘missing’ are properly timestamped and “hide_sitewide” isn’t set to 1?
In reply to: Formatting in bbpress?It’s not too hard to integrate TinyMCE – just remove the buttons that won’t work.
In reply to: Group Calendar PluginYes, and in my experience their releases are extremely buggy
In reply to: Plugin: PmWiki in Buddypress.Hi there.
Would it be possible to work with you on this or get a copy of your code so far? I’m going to be working on something similar very soon and I’d be more than happy for us to collaborate.
In reply to: NEW Avenue K9 BP 1.1 Theme ReleasedHere’s what I did as a (no doubt really hacky/bad-practice) fix. Seems to display okay in IE8/Chrome/Firefox. Not so much in IE6 but luckily for the piece of work I’m doing I don’t need to support IE6 (muwahaha)

Edit
/wp-content/themes/avenuek9/_inc/css/layout/home-page/3c-right.css
Code:#third-section {
margin-right: 40px;
width: 300px;
}#second-section {
float: right;
width: 525px;
}#first-section {
float: right;
display: none;
}No doubt someone with better css experience will come and point out everything I’ve done wrong here
But it’s working well enough for me to evaluate the theme a little more.
In reply to: WPMU 2.8.3… Is it compatible with Buddypress?…eh?
I was responding to your fellow moderator’s post – “So far so good here, at least with the latest trunk version. I imagine BP1.0.3 will react the same as it did to 2.8.2. “
It’s not exactly like I’ve suddenly started talking about the trunk version when everyone else is talking about the 1.0.3 branch or something…
If I was asking for support with it I would of course posted a new thread rather than derailing this one.
Sorry to ‘bump’ my own post but I’ve been thinking about this a bit more today – should I be directing this query towards the WPMU forums instead?
Just looking for guidance really
In reply to: WPMU 2.8.3… Is it compatible with Buddypress?I’ve just tried the latest trunk (as of about 10 mins ago) with 2.8.4a and not had a huge amount of luck. I have managed to get it semi-working, but it’s incredibly buggy. Could well be user error though – will try the process again
