    There’s got to be a much more logical way of doing this, we’re sitting here talking about adding a couple a hrefs like it’s rocket science and requires all kinds of php code. I know it takes some php to tell if a user is logged in or not and notifications, but its like the entire bar is held hostage to these few links.

    @mercime thanks! I’ve been trying to figure that out for a while now. Is there a way to add a link without the drop down arrow? I don’t see any class or id added to it so I don’t know how it is picking it up.

    Alright, that fixed it. I was worried I was missing some child theme conversion stuff.

    @r-a-y actually I guess I mean without having to select between “Personal” “Friends” “Groups” “Favorites” “@mentions” I don’t know why I threw blog comments in there.

    @JediSthlm are you saing you have to create a bp-functions.php file and put it in your plugins folder? Cause I don’t see one already created anywhere.

    @djpaul is there a way to remove all the filters so all activity appears in the same stream like it does here on buddypress.org?

    @r-a-y awesome man. You wouldn’t happen to also know how to get all activity to appear at the same time in the stream, without having to select the different “blog comments” or “@ Mentions”

    @tonyzeoli Did you switch servers because of Godaddy/Buddypress problems?

    So there is no built in way to do this like with WordPress blogs? I’ve looked into the phpadmin and their import export, but either it refuses to import into my new installation what I exported from the old installation, or it just doesn’t do anything at all.

    From my Godaddy account it has 10 different export options

    CSV
    CSV for MS Excel
    MIcrosoft Excel 2000
    Microsoft Word 2000
    LaTeX
    Open Document Spreadsheet
    Open Document Text
    PDF
    SQL
    YAML

    Am I looking in the right place?

    @rich! @ etiviti @rossagrant yeah I saw that plugin, and I honestly wouldn’t mind paying, everybody deserves to be paid for their work, but you cant buy that script you have rent it, its like 10 cents a day or something strange like that.

    @djpaul “if we encouraged people to edit the default theme or any of the core BuddyPress files directly, most of those people are going to come back and complain….”

    That’s why I think it is important to start separating the BP plugin from themes.

    @andrea_r You made a BP child theme to a theme that is not BP compatible?

    @thekmen I’m just one of the people that think themes should be completely separated from the plugin the same way they are separated from WordPress. Trying to reduce everything to one theme with a bunch of child themes is only going to slow down development and discourage people from appreciating Buddypress. I mean look how few themes there are, one theme with with a couple color alteration child themes and now people are excited just to be able to use the generic WordPress default.

    I actually prefer this not being a child theme because I’m not a programmer and don’t know enough to write a theme completely from scratch, and this WordPress default is the most basic sandbox like template to start with.

    I think it is an inherent difference between front end and back end developers. You guys don’t care what it looks like as long as the programming is constantly up to date and I don’t mind if I miss some updates as long as its designed well. You guys try to plan for every possible scenario and I design to make things as customized as possible. I have a million ideas of things I want to do designing a theme for a non-profit I work with, but I’m not always certain about writing the php to get the functionality on track so I post on here about it. Instead I get front end advice, suggesting I write an entire plugin for something that can be accomplished with a line or two of html and css, just to keep the plugin pure. Neither extreme is the answer, I’m just saying it is a bit lop sided right now.

    @djpaul so you want there to be only one buddypress theme?

    @r-a-y
    “at socialpreneur: This plugin does not support xprofiles. Not sure if I want to add it.”

    If this is a project you are still working on I think you definitely should add that feature. And if possible something to display photos. Just my suggestions.

    @alanchrishughes

    @djpaul why would it be such a big project to create one separate forum when there are already an infinite number of forums plugged in to the groups things? Wouldn’t most of the work already be done already?

    @jeffsayre so we don’t hijack the other post, has any of these things happened to you?

    @jeffsayre I appreciate everyone’s help.

    @Jeff Sayre are you saying I am taking it off topic? I wrote one sentence about integrating bbpress and buddypress in a thread about integrating bbpress and buddypress.

    @alanchrishughes

    bbPress won’t integrate with Buddypress either.

    I installed both in the same database.
