I use this little plugin https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/custom-profile-filters-for-buddypress/

The description is not really that helpful. basically you can define certain xprofile fields to link directly to external URLs. e.g youtube, facebook, twitter, external website….etc etc

you need to manually alter the .php file in the instruction but this is very simple to do and it comes with a few stock media sites setup already.
Very good and very simple

yes there is a small subscription but we are committed to it’s development and pledge to keep it up-to-date with BP changes

@en3r0 – as far as I am aware this plugin appears to have been abandoned. I have tried it myself and it does not work. I have seen no activity for months and the plugin site has been down for a long time. possibly a lost cause….the good news is though – we have one available which you can see in action at our demo site http://buddypress-maps-demo.glocate.me/
