    What do you mean with everything? Can you post your complete code here?

    You’ll have to create that TOS page yourself. It’ll be a normal WP page. Then you can exclude that page like this:
    `is_page(23)`

    23 in this case is the id of the page, so substitute with the proper id. You can use the page slug as well instead of the id.

    Whatever programme you use to look at code (netbeans, dreamweaver,textmate,…) should have a search function that lets you search both files and folders.

    There’s no class for the $bp object neither. It’s being created in bp_core_setup_globals(). When you dump $bp onto your screen you’ll see the stdClass, which is the pseudo-class PHP uses for non-initialized objects.

    Well, you haven’t looked apparently :) Line 25 in that file says `$bp->signup->step = ‘request-details’;` for example. Why don’t you just search for it. A quick search in the BP plugin folder for `$bp->site_options` returned around 20 hits.

    Have a look at function bp_core_screen_signup() in bp-core/bp-core-signup.php. That’s where `$bp->signup->step` gets created.

    `bp_core_get_userid( $_POST )`

    This might work…

    There’s Buddyvents. Does have a price tag of EUR 50 attached. You can check it out here:

    The activity I guess, but that’s something to ask the plugin author.

    You can deactivate activity comments on blog and forum posts in the backend, therefore forcing users to go to the post to comment if they want to.

    Most developers might have other commitments and taking on another project isn’t something you can just do for a little bit. You’ll have to get familiar with the code and your coding style, both of which can be a pain if it’s really different from your own way of doing things. Don’t take it personally, though. When it’s finished, it’s finished and people will just have to wait for it…

    I’ve been thinking about writing a general RESTful API plugin, but haven’t had the time to start so far. My events plugin already supports getting event information and posting events in xml/json format. The next step is to send invitations and such and for that user information would be required, but it doesn’t make sense for an events plugin to handle general things like members. Right now I’m using API keys (with OAuth to come at some point) to check for access rights and that should also be handled by a more general plugin, which other plugins could then plug into.

    Also very interested what you come up with, Carl.

    I agree, Gravity Forms is well worth the money, even with the newish pricing scheme. The about-to-be-released 1.5 version even includes the option to replace the BP registration form and adds PayPal support and such (a developer license is needed for those). As far as I know there’s no inbuilt support for custom post types yet, but even using custom fields, coding a recipe plugin should be very easy.

    Forums aren’t there to get your frustration out there, whatever the reasons. Of course, sometimes you can’t help it, but then you should just move on afterwards. You have to keep in mind that most developers code plugins in their spare time. If Jeff releases his code or not is beside the point. If he does, then maybe some form of privacy plugin might come out of it, if not, then it’s his decission. Once a GPL plugin is released it’s in the public domain and people can build on it. If it’s not released, then nobody has any claim on it. As far as I’m aware, all donators to bp-privacy have been refunded, so the discussion should end here. There are options regarding privacy and for now you’ll just have to do with those.

    Any BP developer can build you a plugin. I think wpmudedv and buddydev are probably best for already existing plugins. It’s up to you to decide if you think the money for value ratio for a custom made plugin is worth it. Post your requirements here on the job board and see what kind of answers you get.

    That would be `$bp->displayed_user->id`. Don’t forget to declare $bp as a global before (`global $bp;`)

    I guess I understand where you’re coming from, but from a programmers point of view, BP is a great programme to work with cause it’s so customizable (of course there’s always room for improvement). Maybe not so much from a designers point of view. Not so sure it should be either. Too many options tend to make programmes too clunky. Just means that maybe you should look into working together with someone who knows his way round php (WP) code well.

    And to be honest, it’s not that bad once you got your head round it. Just give it another go. Ask questions here and people will help you…

    For photos there’s 2, BP Album+ and BP Gallery, which also does videos and audio, but isn’t free (I think USD 30 subscription fee?). It’s on the roadmap for BP Album+ as well, but am not sure if they have integrated videos yet.
    https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/
    http://buddydev.com/buddypress/bp-gallery-the-ultimate-photo-gallery-for-your-buddypress-powered-site/

    For events there’re a few solutions, some paid, some free. There’s EventPress (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/eventpress/) and Jet Event System (https://buddypress.org/community/groups/jet-event-system-for-buddypress/), which are free.

    There’s an event calendar plugin for groups from the guys at wpmudev.org which has a price tag attached (again, not sure, I think around USD 80 /month subscription fee?):
    http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/buddypress-group-calendar

    And then there’s my events plugin, Buddyvents. You can check it out on the test site:
    http://test.shabushabu.eu/events/

    It costs EUR 50 and comes with free support for as long as the version stays 1.x. We’re at 1.6 right now and are aiming for a 2.x release around May this year. Existing customers will get 50% off for v2.0.

    To be honest, I don’t really remember what I needed that for and what I did in the end. It should be possible to use this filter: `groups_get_groups` to get rid of the unwanted groups, but that filter might happen too late in the process, so you’ll end up with less than the normal paged items (does that make sense?).

    The way to do it in BP 1.3 is to do a custom query to get all group ids and then pass those into the loop. Not possible with 1.2.7 though…

    @anonymized-96400

    Cheers! v2.0 will see PayPal integration both for tickets to an event as for event creation. That basically means you can have an Eventbrite clone.

    Well, it should work. What’s the exact code you were using?

    Also, it’s worth noting that the `$bp` global behaves a bit differently when on a member page. Take this for example:
    https://buddypress.org/community/members/username/settings/

    `$bp->current_component` wouldn’t be members, as you might expect, but settings. In that case you could check for `$bp->displayed_user->id`.

    @anonymized-96400

    Inactive

    You can use the $bp global, so for example this:
    `if( $bp->current_component == BP_MEMBERS_SLUG && $bp->current_action == ‘subnav-slug’ && $bp->action_variables[0] == ‘subnav-variable’ )
    {
    // do something
    }`

    Just had a look. Seems to make it easy for users who have no programming skills. I wonder how easy it would be for a developer to bend it to ones will? I guess it can’t match BP in that area and for me that’s what counts, really.

    Deleting `$bp->is_directory &&` from the line above should do it. That means that all the links that have the links directory slug in the URL are excluded.
