Hang out on IRC in #buddypress on Freenode and you will learn a lot of things
In reply to: r1416 and bp-custom (not working)You must move your bp-custom.php out of /plugins/buddypress/ and into /plugins/
If you keep it in /plugins/buddypress/ it will be deleted when updating.

You can upgrade this on your server – but – make sure you have enabled the “BuddyPress enable” plugin on the bbPress side, as this is a temporary fix for the problem.

You only appear as inactive when you are logged in, and view yourself. To everyone else you appear as “member”.
Deleting activity stream items will be in a future version, but you could write a plugin to delete specific items for now if you wanted. it would be quite easy, you’re just deleting rows in the database.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailI’ve just checked and replying to messages works fine on the default themes. I’ll take a look what the problem is on buddypress.org – but it’s most likely because I forgot to mention something that needs to be upgraded.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailBefore you report bugs, always check to see if it broken using the default themes. Most of the time you’ll find those bugs are because you haven’t updated your old theme properly.

In reply to: correct way to redefine BuddyPress core functionsBe sure to put your bp-custom.php in /plugins/ and not the /buddypress/ directory so it is not overwritten on upgrades. You’ll need to add a comment header and activate it in RC-2.
Phluxor: disabling the admin bar is easy, add this to your bp-custom.php or your wp-config.php:

<?php if ( bp_has_wire_posts( bp_wire_item_id(), bp_wire_can_post() ) : ?>to this:
<?php if ( bp_has_wire_posts( 'item_id=' . bp_wire_item_id() . '&can_post=' . bp_wire_can_post() ) ) : ?>Are you using the latest default themes? What version WPMU/BuddyPress?

In reply to: Facebook avatar/text out of alignment on main pageThis is a problem with the FB plugin, it needs some CSS work done. If anyone can work out the fix for this I’ll upgrade it, but I don’t have any time to work on this right now.
In reply to: Wire suddenly broken sitewideCheck the upgrade instructions – specifically the part around profile/index.php
In reply to: Dispaly Nickname instead of usernameUse the 2.7 branch of WPMU.
In reply to: RC2 Theme HeadacheIf you are not using custom themes yet, just delete everything and start from scratch with RC-2. By the looks of it, you don’t have much data yet.
Follow the install instructions step by step and you will be fine:
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-buddypress/
Also, please don’t use “buddypress” in your domain name. When we get a hosting page set up on this site, we can’t link to your site if it breaks the domain policy.
In reply to: Upgrade Issue: Cannot delete BP-CoreCheck your log files then, you are getting a fatal error from somewhere.
In reply to: Upgrade Issue: Cannot delete BP-CoreFirst change your home theme to a standard WordPress default theme, disable all other plugins, then try and delete.
In reply to: Upgrading from RC-1 to RC-2 or 1.0 ReleaseNirok: Looks like permission settings on the /tmp/ folder.
In reply to: Smileys not in wire anymore?Hmm, they may be getting filtered, I will check into this.
In reply to: RC2 Upgrade issues99.9% of the time it’s going to be because you haven’t upgraded your theme properly. If you are seeing problems like this, try the default theme first, and if it works with that then it’s your theme.
In reply to: Skeleton Theme & Component for DevelopersYes future proofing themes will be from 1.0 forward – pre releases do not count as anything is subject to change.
In reply to: Upgrading from RC-1 to RC-2 or 1.0 ReleaseAnointed: The DB will upgrade automatically.
Mekudos: Make sure you have the forums component enabled in the site admin under “BuddyPress > Component Setup”
