In reply to: external-group-blogs & group-twitter doesn’t work
I’ll look at fixing them this weekend.
In reply to: Like it? Vote it!Don’t forget to vote “works” again, now a new version is out.
In reply to: Web 2.0 version of requesting featuresWill probably use http://polldaddy.com
It’s not up to WordPress to deal with this, it’s up to plugin developers to write their plugins so they don’t die if BuddyPress is not present. I’ve put the code all over the codex for this:

In reply to: BP Album+ : my new plugin for picturesVery nice, get it on the WP plugin repo if you can.
In reply to: Saving Selection Field IssueVersions please 1.2.1? Branch? Trunk?
Or via jQuery:
j('div.activity ul li').each( function(i) {
if ( i % 2 != 1 )
j(this).addClass('alt');
});All in the function bp_get_the_body_class()
In reply to: New plugin: BP Group ManagementAh yes, I forgot about the ordering.
In reply to: New plugin: BP Group ManagementGreat plugin Boone! I found one issue though –
There’s no pagination, so I could only see the first page of groups. You can just add this:
<div class="tablenav">
<div class="tablenav-pages">
<span class="displaying-num" id="group-dir-count">
<?php bp_groups_pagination_count() ?>
</span>
<span class="page-numbers" id="group-dir-pag">
<?php bp_groups_pagination_links() ?>
</span>
</div>
</div>You will need to move the
<?php if( bp_has_groups( $args ) ) : ?>above that though and get it outside of the table generation.I also thought it would be nice to add a column at the start for the group avatar?
<td scope="row" style="text-align: center; padding: 5px 10px">
<a href="admin.php?page=bp-group-management/bp-group-management-bp-functions.php&action=edit&id=<?php bp_group_id() ?>" class="edit"><?php bp_group_avatar( 'width=35&height=35' ); ?></a>
</td>You’d probably want to move the inline CSS out of there.
In reply to: Is this possibleYes, WordPress MU will do what you need without BuddyPress at all.
In reply to: Looking for a Following-FeatureThe beat way would probably be to write a new component and turn off the friends component.
In reply to: I can’t see my inbox messagesThe problems are fixed in 1.2. @putnum01 – if you’re messages are not even coming up then it sounds like a different problem to me.
In reply to: Inbox Message IssuesThese issues are fixed in 1.2.
In reply to: Is there a backdoor in WPMU/Buddypress?Good call Windhamdavid.
In reply to: Is there a backdoor in WPMU/Buddypress?I’ve already answered this question.
If you have a spammer with admin access on a blog, they can add new users to that blog. They are then new users in the system since WPMU shares a global users table. So essentially once a spammer has a blog they can get others in.
This is simply the way WPMU works, and if I try and change that, people shout and scream at me. The reality is, if you want to use WordPress MU and BuddyPress along with it, you are going to have to manage this somehow. Otherwise, just use standard WordPress since it doesn’t have these issues.
zageek: Yes, exactly. It’s just terminology. A group is like a forum, but with a whole lot more power.
In reply to: How to control spam registration?You must identify the spam blogs and remove them. Once a spammer has admin access they can add new users to that blog. Those users can then create new blogs.
In reply to: Is Buddypress forums being link-jacked?I don’t think this is something to worry about. It’s not a security problem as far as I can tell. You can do this with any website, it’s simply just adding an extra GET param to a URL.
This is the sort of thing I’m talking about: http://help.deanjrobinson.com/
In reply to: Social 0.1.8 by Utkarsh KukretiThis is a core BP problem, so it’s not the theme. This will be fixed for 1.2.2. It only occurs on sub blogs, not the root blog.
Also — you DO NOT need to join a group to post in a public group forum. If you post, you join automatically.
I find it hard to conceive of why a social networking site would NOT have a single place of communication, e.g. for tech support, newcomers, general discussion.
Create groups for “Tech Support”, “Newcomers”, “General Discussion”. I consistently fail to understand how people don’t get this. I’m in the process of converting BuddyPress.org to this model, perhaps then people will get it.
If you can write a patch I’ll happily change this. Don’t expect us to know this though, you need to tell us in Trac.
In reply to: Is Buddypress forums being link-jacked?Using 1.2.1? If not then this is the problem.
