Maybe you can tweak oembed to also do images.

Also what about trying a wp plugin that creates a pop image of image links. Im sure there is something like that out there. Again not the perfect solution but maybe something for now while you sort it out.

No idea! But if you are looking for easy why not just go with edublogs?

We just started using arrowchat. It’s not without issues but so far the tech suppport has been good.

This is not exactly what you asked for but BuddyStream allows you to import images from Flikr.

I think you would have to go into buddypress it’s self and change the css.

I was able to do a fair amount of style customization to BP but I’m using custom theme designed to work with bp so not sure how others would go about it.

That being said you might want to give this plugin a look and see how it does things and then adapt and aplly to your own needs.

There are bunch of ways to make this happen but here is what I use.

    https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-registration-options/

Oddly enough imo the plugin authors don’t really showcase the privacy feautre which I think is one of the plugins best quallities.

Here a creen shot of the privacy settings page is it appers on my install.

very bassic but it really does the trick if you are trying to limit access to member profile pages.

    Hope this helps!

    Found my Answer.

    http://bpdevel.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/updating-your-buddypress-plugins-for-1-2-8/

The BuddyBar and the WP Admin Bar Additional logic has been added to the BuddyBar loader (bp_core_load_admin_bar()) to account for the introduction of a similar admin bar in WP 3.1. (There are plans to integrate the core version BuddyBar into the WP admin bar in the future, but for now you have to choose.) By default, the BuddyBar is shown. Site admins can disable the BuddyBar in favor of the WP admin bar by defining define( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true ); in wp-config.php. BP_DISABLE_ADMIN_BAR continues to disable *all* admin bars, and takes precedence over BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR. If your plugin or your site has made modifications to the way that the BuddyBar loads, you might want to verify compatibility with BP 1.2.8.

I upgraded to both BP 1.2.8 and WP 3.1

I Have completely lost my BuddyPress section of the dashboard unless I navigate to http://mysite/wp-admin/network/ and then (as others have reported) all the BP plugin links are missing. Other than that so far so good.

Our forums seem to be working fine.

I had something simillar happen a while back and (if I recall correctly) I manually reset the time and also reset the permalinks. Not idea why I did the second part but I did. Anyhow that solved for me.

I’d just like to say this is a great idea. I’m glad mod suggested it, that Boone thinks its worth discussing and most importantly that hnla has a pencil.

You can also increase the minimum time required for completing the reg process.

Thanks for the reply! I can run this by them (again) but while the theme authors are generally great on the forum issue they don’t seem to be all the open to suggestions.

Any chance that if I post the /groups/…./forum/ page here you might be able to help point me in the right direction?

Same thing happened to me a while ago. I think it had something to with changes to BP and my use of a nonupdated version of my theme.

The only way I know of is by using the Global Forum plugin from BuddyDev http://buddydev.com/plugins/global-forums/

There is a fee and I don’t know if it works with 1.2.6 or if it will work with the upcoming 1.2.7 release.

I loath the forum via groups set up. Our site is made up of mostly non-tech people(heck I’m not all savvy) and way too much stuff ends up getting posted as group updates by mistake.

I’m hoping that with the new bbPress/BuddyPress separate but integrated system this problem will be resolved.

All of that being said I still love BuddyPress and can imagine trying to do what we do without it.

Will this method still work in 1.2.6 and the forthcoming 1.2.7?

Oops reread the tittle and now the that it says groups. I’m looking for something which will do the same thing on individual forum topic pages.

Dito! I’m looking forward to it as well. .

The above can be discarded as the problem has been resolved. It seems that I needed to set up an email account via bluehost. No idea why but at any rate seems to be solved.

The theme authors were notified and have an update out already!
