In reply to: Group/Profile Layout
Actually I think it’s a pretty good starting point. It may use up a lot of space, but it provides a perfect user experience and shows what the optionsbar and the userbar do.
I don’t think it’s Andy’s task to come up with the perfect design.
So, if I don’t get you wrong there are plenty of possibilities/options to change that or get rid of the navigation with a little css and html knowledge.
Edit: I was slower than you DJPaul…
In reply to: How Can I get BuddyBar inside the Header?Oh i get it, thanks Andy!
@ mikhailjon you’ll find everything you need in here and this is the action you’re looking for:
remove_action('wp_footer', 'bp_core_admin_bar', 8 );.@ everyone else, how can I disable the buddybar just for the admin area? I believe this has been changed (regarding the buddybar also being in the backend) and I’m not sure how to do it.
In reply to: Demo Data Creator – Now BuddyPress enabledWow would have saved me a lot of time, thanks JJJ!
In reply to: BBpress Plugins in V1.1@JJJ maybe someone could point out the important steps there? Also if anyone could comment these particular bbpress modification problems…that would make me incredibly happy
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginThanks Marius, I’ve seen it just now, going to give it a try right now. Perfect! And thanks for this great addition, just what’s been missing.
In reply to: New Groupblog PluginOne big question Marius. How can I make the groupblogs not use the plugin-template? I can’t use the sidebar like this and I should be able to move a few things to the sidebar!
Thanks for your suggestions..!
In reply to: Is this the way Forums are supposed to work?Great thinking stwc. There will be great solutions, will just have to come p with it first…
In reply to: Is this the way Forums are supposed to work?I agree that the setup is not ideal – users should be able to post new topics anytime and then chose where to post in. Like this it is far too complicated – I plan to run a help forum – so registration and posting of topics should be as easy as it gets.
But since BuddyPress uses the full bbpress files, it should be possible to do exactly that, using some of the basic kakumei files?
In reply to: How to Find the Correct Theme Path for Child Themes?For number one I tried this here,
echo '<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="' locate_template( array( 'custom-login/custom-login.css' ), true)'" />';It gets me this error
PHP Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting ',' or ';' in /Users/(...)/Sites/wordpress.mu/wp-content/themes/bp-default/functions.php on line 7For number two I have:
require_once locate_template( array( 'library/functions/theme_variables.php' ), true );and I get this error:
PHP Warning: require_once(/Users/(...)/Sites/wordpress.mu/wp-content/themes/bp-default/library/functions/) [<a href='function.require-once'>function.require-once</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /Users/(...)/Sites/wordpress.mu/wp-includes/theme.php on line 843Thanks a lot for more pointers in the right direction, it’s puzzling me for the whole day, unfortunately.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdateGreat and important work for a framework like BuddyPress. Privacy is probably the most important thing for online things in general – people just have not realized that yet.
I’ll be happy to test.
In reply to: How to Find the Correct Theme Path for Child Themes?Thanks Jeff!
I’m trying, but it’s not working so far. Shouldn’t it look something like this?
$functions_path = locate_template( array( '/library/functions/' ), true );require_once locate_template( array( '/library/functions/theme_variables.php' ), true );Here I’m not sure what to do because it’s wrapped in echo and href:
echo '<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="' . locate_template('template_directory') . '/custom-login/custom-login.css" />';In reply to: When comes the 1.1?Great stuff Andy! Really looking forward to 1.1. which seems to be a major leap forward!
In reply to: White Pages whenever Hitting SubmitOk parts of the problem were solved by deleting any white space in functions.php (always a stupid mistake).
The rest might be related with the p2 functions though. We’ll try to figure that out.
In reply to: White Pages whenever Hitting SubmitAlright Jeff, thanks very much. I’m just thinking of postponing and wait for 1.1. to hit my inbox.
I kept the functions.php the same and added my custom functions in there. Also I am using the P2 functions to power my comments in the blog.
I reckon placing them outside in bp-custom will not be the solution here, but I’ll try. If i find the problem, I’ll post it in here.
In reply to: White Pages whenever Hitting SubmitThanks Jeff for the first breakdown, you’re a real help here!
I’m running WPMU 2.8.1 in the root as a directory install. BuddyPress is the last stable version.
I was also thinking it might have something to do with the nonce functions. What can cause something like that? It’ll be a coding error from my side, however I’m not sure where to look.
I modified the skeleton member theme to work with my WordPress theme design. I have not modified any of the core, just added custom functions to the skeleton theme.
– I switched back to the original BP theme, it seems to work correctly there. Where do I have to start looking then?
– Another question, if I started to work with the trac files to modifiy the new theme structure from the scratch, do I have to fear more changes until the launch of 1.1 (just to the theme files?)
In reply to: BuddyPress Member Theme + Deep IntegrationI take it you’d like to have a better integration between the bphome and the bpmember themes right?
All of this is going to be included in the September 1.1 update as Andy is implementing WordPress’ child theme possibilities.
In reply to: Sites using parent/child theme architecture?Sounds like a great idea, what would be the main benefits of something like this?
Could someone direct me to a complete guide about how to set up the forum at the buddypress end or post a guide in here (wasn’t able to find anything)?
I have set up bbpress, but when I click on post new in the group interface I just get a white page?
In reply to: Blogs: A quick post form via the themeSounds great, can’t wait John! Althought the release will mean to rework my entire theme structure.
Is there a good guide already on how to migrate the old bphome/bpmember structure to the new child theme framework?
In reply to: Help with group-home.phpThanks again Jeff.
I was able to solve my problem by wrapping all inside this:
<?php get_header() ?>
<?php do_action( 'template_notices' ) ?>
<?php if ( bp_has_groups() ) : while ( bp_groups() ) : bp_the_group(); ?>So far it works perfectly.
In reply to: How to Use bphome Functions on BP Member Pages?Cheers thanks Jeff!
In reply to: How to Use bphome Functions on BP Member Pages?Thanks Jeff, I thought so as well, though I would prefer a solution with importing them? Since that would just duplicate all of the functions and I’d have to to all modifications to these functions twice instead of just once in the bphome theme?
In reply to: Skeleton Theme & Component for DevelopersI would like to bring this topic I posted yesterday to this thread’s attention: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/how-to-use-bphome-functions-on-bp-member-pages
In reply to: Search barAny help on this?
In reply to: Search barI’d like to exactly replicate the steps above and slightly modify the bp-search.
Where do I keep the local copy and how do I correctly call it from the theme? Any thoughts are appreciated!
