    Ha! Yep. Andy is right. Delete that line and things should work alot better. Oops. Fixing the download. Thanks Andy.

    3000+ lines of code and one var_dump() included for free.

    Everybody posting problems please state your bp version, wpmu version. Maybe a link to the site with the issue would help. This is successfully running on the demo site http://ourcommoninterest.org/ using WPMU 2.7.1, BP 1.0 and also under Windows.

    @roger, this version works just like wp’s tag system. No restrictions. It is possible to do what you are talking about. It would take some custom programming to do so. I’m not going to document this for programmers yet. After things are stable with this project I will.

    However, it is intended as a tool for site admins and programmers to use. I’m trying to get the core stable in all environments first. This release is intended to do that. When it gets to beta I’ll document the core and the template tags. This purpose of this version is to get something useful out there. Knock a couple of features off Andy’s wish list for bp 1.x.

    This is an end user version at the moment.

    @manoj, never seen that. You running wpmu 2.7.1, bp 1.0 and bpc is installed properly?

    @burtadsit

    Participant

    I’m not sure what you mean Manoj. It will work with other bp custom plugins yes. Is it going to be enhanced to allow you to use it in your own components. Yes also.

    Are you taling about this cache https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-super-cache/ ?

    bp does have built in support for this. If you can track down exactly when and where the avatars fail to load with it enabled it would help. Without being able to reproduce the problem in a specific area when this exact thing happnens or you do that thing, it’s impossible to track down the issues.

    Try to reproduce the problem and post the results in trac as a bug.

    If you people can reproduce this issue then, yes, it needs to be a trac ticket. Describe what it takes to break ajax and the other problems you are having when you change the permalink structure. Make sure you indicate the exact permalinks that break things.

    The inability to accept/reject membership requests and the “Are you sure you want to do this?” error message are related to wp security issues. wpmu 2.7.1 uses things called ‘nonces’ that ensure that the user who got the form actually submitted it back.

    I don’t know what member theme you are using but if you are trying to use an older version of a member theme with wpmu 2.7.1 and bp 1.0 it will fail like that if it wasn’t written to pay attention to ‘nonces’.

    @burtadsit

    You seem to have solved that problem. It works ok for me.

    Some people don’t find that feature terribly useful, yet others seem to like it but want to limit it to certain fields. It’s subjective. No it’s not a bug for bp to be linking to search that way. bp has no way of knowing what is relevent.

    OK. That’s good that you are up and running. Some hosts just have difficulty with bp. It doesn’t happen very often, perhaps 3 or 4 users have reported such things. Mostly with one particular host.

    There is a post in this thread about your issue : https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=2190

    Try going though this topic and see if anything fits your situation: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471

    That error message could mean many things. It’s just a ‘something didn’t work right’ message that doesn’t tell us anything.

    lol. You had absolutely no need for all that other stuff then. Now you know more than you ever wanted to know about page titles in bp.

    Well they won’t show if the group isn’t public. They aren’t showing on public groups?

    Perhaps somebody with more experience in this kind of issue will help out.

    I see what you mean. I can’t imagine that bp has anything to do with that at all. Even wpmu doesn’t think I’m logged in sitewide. This is some kind of cookie domain and configuration issue. I’ve get what seems to be a valid login cookie and session cookie from logging in to the main blog but the others don’t recognize it as such.

    Forum posts done directly in bbpress do not show in activity.

    You want to change the title of the page in the browser? I think that’s what you are asking. Each page has a different title based on what it is and what it contains.

    If all you want to do is change the title to the same thing on your site then that is located in the /bpmember/header.php file on line 7 – <title><?php bp_page_title() ?></title>

    If you want to change the title to something else based on what page is being viewed then you’ll have to either alter the core code, which isn’t a good idea, or install a filter.

    The title for each page is determined by the function bp_page_title() in bp-core-templatetags.php

    At the bottom of that function bp calls a filter so that you can change the title without altering either header.php or bp_page_title(). You can install a filter by creating one in your bp-custom.php file like this:

    function my_page_title($with_site_name, $without_site_name){

    return ‘my page title’;

    }

    add_filter(‘bp_page_title’, ‘my_page_title’, 10, 2);

    The parameters that get passed to your new filter are the page titles with and without the site name that the bp_page_title() function is going to use as the page title. Whatever you return from that function will be the page title for *all* pages that use the bp home theme.

    There seems to be a new configuration option for the group forums:

    define ( ‘BP_FORUMS_PARENT_FORUM_ID’, 1 );

    What this allows is all group forums, when created, to be children of a specific forum. It defaults to forum id 1 in bbpress. That would be the first one created during install. You can change this behavior by defining another forum id to be the parent forum or turn off this completely in bp-custom.php like this:

    define ( ‘BP_FORUMS_PARENT_FORUM_ID’, 0 );

    Zero for ‘do not do that stuff’ or some other existing forum id you want to be the parent. You’ll have to go into the back end of bbpress to rearrange the forums that have been already created. Just set their Forum Parent to be -None-.

    hmmm. Yep, that’s what is happening. Not sure why but I’ll take a look.

    I think you are saying that your member’s forum posts do not have the author name on them.

    From /buddypress/bp-forums/installation-readme.txt

    11. Enable user switching in bbPress by copying the following line of code into your bbPress bb-config.php file:

    $bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true;

    Put the above line into your bb-config.file. It doesn’t matter where.

    @burtadsit

    Well, the error message is correct. You don’t have any bp themes installed if that gif actually is whey way the files are layed out. The bp-themes folder belongs in /wp-content not in /themes it is *not* a normal wp theme. Please see the readme.txt in /bp-themes.

    The tables in the db don’t matter if the plugin that they belong to isn’t running. I guess I’m not understanding what the problem is. The site functions fine but you see errors about 404s and 500s in the log when bots come through looking for things that aren’t there?

    If so then you’ll just have to wait until the bots index your current site properly. What’s the big deal? This isn’t a bp issue.

    Hi everyone.

    Priority 5 :

    1. bp_core_directory_members()

    2. bp_core_search_site()

    3. bp_blogs_directory_blogs_setup()

    4. groups_directory_groups_setup()

    That’s a partial dump of the hooks that run for the action ‘wp’.

    All those fns get triggered on each page load. The purpose of all of them is to detect if a directory is being viewed or the search fn is being run.

    Let’s just look at the members directory and it’s fn bp_core_directory_members() in bp-core.php

    In that fn is the line:

    if ( !is_home() &amp;&amp; is_null( $bp->displayed_user->id ) &amp;&amp;
    $bp->current_component == $bp->default_component ) {

    That’s what bp uses to determine if the member’s directory is running. Underneath that line is $bp->is_directory = true which shuts down the option and user bars. Either that line is failing, your theme isn’t triggering this fn or something is setting $bp->is_directory to false again.

    This works just fine in the default themes with 1.0 and wpmu 2.7.1.
