In reply to: group invite problem
Jason, there is no “Invite Members” option. There is a ‘Send Invites”. Are you running bp 1.0 and the default 1.0 member theme?
In reply to: group invite problemOh. Yep, I see it. Hang on a sec..
Well, no I don’t see it. If I have an existing group and all my friends are already members or I don’t have any friends then I get a message like that.
I just created a new group and bp displayed all my friends and allowed me to select those I wanted to invite. I invited some and all is fine.
I’m using bp 1.0 and the default home/member themes. Works for me.
In reply to: Date in profile is broken in latest BP releasebento, using the default bp home theme and member theme this problem doesn’t exist. I just added a new date field to the user profile and it works fine. Not seeing the problem you described. Talk to the theme author.
In reply to: group invite problemI don’t understand. How can people *not* have a bp Full Name field filled out since it’s a required field during registration?
I turned off the red light on this thread.
mariahneu and philpeter seem to be having similar problems. mariahneu hasn’t responded and philpeter doesn’t seem to be having problems directly related to bp.
@philpeter you should get Erwin’s attention through whatever support mechanism he has for his plugin. Your question is just buried in a thread that is going to be ignored. Start a new topic to get the attention of the plugin author. Use a descriptive title. Erwin is never gonna find your issue.
In reply to: Add function to ‘create group’No problem anointed.
In reply to: how to add ‘extra’ data to the wire?Well, when I did this for bpgroups I just piggybacked onto the groups component. bpgroups records new topic and post activity that is directly created in bbpress. Since bp group forums was already recording the activities, I just had to simulate the same thing.
The function bp_activity_record() in bp-activity.php does the grunt work. It takes about a zillion parameters. Here’s how I did it:
$activity = array(
'item_id' => (int)$group_id,
'component_name' => 'groups',
'component_action' => 'new_forum_post',
'is_private' => 0,
'secondary_item_id' => (int)$post['post_id'],
'user_id' => (int)$post['poster_id'] );
// create a group obj that the rest of bp can use, play nice
$group_obj = new BP_Groups_Group($group_id);
groups_record_activity($activity);groups_record_activity() in bp-groups.php takes an array param and if you look in there it eventually calls bp_activity_record()
You’ll have to figure out how to translate all the params that takes into the table colums and eventually into what you see displayed. There aren’t any docs for the activity streams as far as I know.
In reply to: how to add ‘extra’ data to the wire?anointed, do you mean the activity streams?
In reply to: Add function to ‘create group’anointed, you can just disable the bbpress group forums component in the bp back end.
bp_forums_new_forum() in bp-forums.php is called by:
groups_new_group_forum() in bp-groups.php is called by:
groups_create_group() in bp-groups.php
and
groups_edit_group_settings() in bp-groups.php

Well. Somebody does read those things.

Changes 0.15
– Added oci_the_tag_cloud() template tag. Accepts the usual wp tag cloud args.
– Added OCI_Item_Group as derived OCI_Item class to enable treating groups as content items. For bagging and tagging.
– Nobody reads this stuff. Small animals are best served raw.
– Added OCI_Item get_from_source() which instantiates an object of type $this->item_type and returns the original source record
and get_source_obj() which is a $this->item_type object factory.
– Added an $args interface to containers. Typical wp args string ‘path=xxx&create=true’ type stuff.
– Dropped OCI_Container::print_tree and added a wp_list_categories like, get_container_tree() with all the wp_list_categories() args.
– Added url parsing interface for containers. Responds to urls for tree node selection. In other words the tag cloud works in the profile.
I don’t *think* that bp has any issues running in a subdir of the doc root. That may have nothing to do with your problem. What error messages do you have in your error log?
In reply to: I think we’ve got a PM problem hereIt could be that the messaging system is confused as who the sender was. I got one from both you and jjj. Both empty without msg ids. Strange.
In reply to: Wire and Custom Slugs CORE BUGIn reply to: I think we’ve got a PM problem hereSomebody else confirm and report this in trac please. I just recently found 2 bugs and reported them. Andy is gonna make me wash dishes for a week or something.
In reply to: I think we’ve got a PM problem hereThat’s the email version of a PM I successfully received thru bp itself.
In reply to: Unable to create groups & post wireWell pfffhht. I was just about to apologize for abandoning you there by being sidetracked. Wow. Something went right today.
In reply to: Unable to create groups & post wireWell, this is pretty specific to your issue: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1096
In reply to: Unable to create groups & post wireIt’s not surprising that no errors were generated at the user level. bp is very young and it hasn’t had time to mature to the point where resources are spent writing informative error handling code. Do your error logs show anything?
I remember some problems with a specific host that was running mysql 4. Similar issue. Just no tables and no reason to explain that fact. Lemme go try hunt that thread down.
In reply to: Can you have a regular WP site AND BuddyPress?The bp home theme is entirely optional. You can use your preferred wp theme for all the usual things and integrate whatever selected features what you want into the theme. Or none at all. The member theme is still available through the top admin bar.
See this in the codex: https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/using-the-buddypress-themes/
bp has to be installed in a folder called /wp-content/plugins/buddypress. Try uploading the plugin again. Activate sitewide.
In reply to: Members DirectoryIt used to be that wp didn’t consider the member theme a theme at all. It still doesn’t. Andy is temporarily tricking wp by trapping a couple of filter calls that wp uses to find the current theme. Looks like when we are in the member theme wp temporarily thinks it’s the current theme.
