    The member theme and some core functions all refer to the main blog. The will use whatever translation is active on that blog.

    Sounds like a job for wpmu forums. It would really get more attention there from those people who have lots of wpmu experience: https://mu.wordpress.org/forums/

    Sorry josswinn, no idea what could be the problem. I don’t think bp has changed any js recently that would affect that thing. Perhaps the plugin author’s site would be of more help?

    You still have a problem with this lorenzo? I’ve never tried upgrading just the core component. Only way to find out what is going on is to look at the error logs. Turning off the light until you respond about this.

    This is not a bp issue. You’ve modified the div arrangement so that the sidebar is inside the ‘content’ div. It normally lives outside the ‘content’ div. As a matter of fact everything is inside the content div, even the footer. You are probably missing a </div> in there someplace.

    You answered your own question and turned out the lights when you left. 1 brownie point for jeanmeslier! (not redeemable for cash)

    To do this you’ll have to replace the current bp function xprofile_add_signup_fields() with your own. In bp-custom.php create a new function that renames the current function like so. Just copy the whole thing over and rename it.

    function my_xprofile_add_signup_fields(){

    <body of existing bp function>

    <your mods to the avatar area>

    }

    remove_action( ‘signup_extra_fields’, ‘xprofile_add_signup_fields’ );

    add_action( ‘signup_extra_fields’, ‘my_xprofile_add_signup_fields’ );

    The wire component can be associated with any other component in bp. It’ll take some programming but you can do it. Wire’s were designed to be attached to anything.

    Currently the bp widgets can’t be called as template functions.

    Run don’t walk, to get firebug. http://getfirebug.com/

    It is one of the essential parts of any toolkit. It will tell you what the names of the divs are that control this, show you the css that controls everything, including the names of the files and even allow you to interactively change settings on the fly to try things out.

    No such widget/plugin that I’m aware of that operates with bp.

    Put this in your bp-custom.php file:

    function blog_to_video($c){

    $c = ‘videos’;

    return $c;

    }

    add_filter(‘bp_blogs_slug’,’blog_to_video’);

    Andy has a filter defined for BP_BLOGS_SLUG.

    If you set the blog to be private the posts and the activity do not show. Settings > Privacy > I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

    If you go look in the bp_activity_sitewide table with phpmyadmin does the entry show up there? What are the ‘date_recorded’ and ‘date_cached’ values? Is your main blog’s date/time correct? System date/time on your server?

    If the times/dates are off on the server your blog then bp may think it’s an old rec and just remove it. bp does that every time it display’s sitewide activity. Get rid of the old stuff and then display the new stuff. You won’t get new stuff if it wipes it before displaying it.

    All other sitewide stuff is being shown. Hmmm.

    Back to the first question. Does the rec exist?

    There are lots of things about bp that I don’t know about. Helping out around here makes me aware of them. Only Andy knows all and he’s forgotten more than I know. bp is a big place and we aren’t in Kansas anymore. :)

    Lemme go dig into it further. Be back.

    Wait a minute. Andy doesn’t forget anything. Damn, I’ll never catch up.

    OK. Don’t use the code above obviously. :)

    Try this:

    function oci_restrict_access(){

    global $bp, $bp_unfiltered_uri;

    if (!is_user_logged_in() &&

    (MEMBERS_SLUG == $bp_unfiltered_uri[0] && !empty( $bp->current_action ) ||

    BP_GROUPS_SLUG == $bp->current_component && !empty( $bp->current_action ))){

    bp_core_redirect( $bp->root_domain );

    }

    }

    add_action( ‘wp’, ‘oci_restrict_access’, 3 );

    That should restrict any user who is not logged in from going anywhere in /members or /groups except for the members and groups directories. It sends them back to the site home page.

    If you don’t want visitors seeing the directories then remove the && !empty( $bp->current_action ) parts in that function. $bp->current_action is anything after /members and /groups. The directories get triggered by just /members and /groups

    If you don’t have a file called bp-custom.php in your /mu-plugins directory then create one and put that in there. If you do have one just drop that code in there.

    You can change where the function sends them by replacing the bp_core_redirect( $bp->root_domain ); statement with something of your choosing. I just used that for testing. You can make them end up where ever you want:

    get_bloginfo('siteurl') . '/wp-login.php?redirect_to=' . urlencode( $bp->root_domain )

    I haven’t tested that but I stole that from the admin bar login code. :)

    Lemme know how it works for ya.

    I don’t think it would be a major hack. More than likely you don’t even need to touch the core. bp looks for a bp-custom.php file in the /mu-plugins directory and if it exists it loads it before all else.

    You could check the current component var in bp and see if they are logged in or not. Lemme go try something.

    OK. I think I have a simple and quick solution for you. Something along the lines of this:

    function oci_restrict_access(){

    global $bp;

    if ((MEMBERS_SLUG == $bp->current_component || BP_GROUPS_SLUG == $bp->current_component) && !is_user_logged_in()){

    die(‘no access’);

    }

    }

    add_action( ‘wp’, ‘oci_restrict_access’, 3 );

    We can stick that in bp-custom.php. Gimme about a couple of hours to finish this and do some testing. I gotta pack up shop here and move to a different location at the moment.

    Be back.

    This is a theme problem. You seem to have solved that issue. You have another fatal error when viewing the blogs directory:

    Fatal error: Unsupported operand types in /home/ladsmy/public_html/community/wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-core.php on line 930

    If you temporarily switch to the standard bp home theme does this happen? If your problems go away by switching to the bp home theme then you need to contact your theme’s author.

    bp doesn’t have that type of security system yet.

    @burtadsit

    That must be a feature I hadn’t noticed. :)

    If your blogs are set to private the activity will not show. Check Settings > Privacy. It should be “I would like my blog to be visible to everyone…”

    pietro28 is saying that his permalink structure changed. It can’t by simply installing bp.

    gogoplata, this is running a week old now. Is it resolved? I’m turning off the light until you switch it back on.
