    I’m revisiting this issue again. Hello everybody. It seems that php 4.x has problems in the area we are discussing. Specificly with the exact functions that are used to encode and decode data between bp and bbpress. martinnr5 suggested this and it seems to be true.

    The solution is to upgrade to php 5.x

    What versions of php is everyone running?

    This is a server or config issue. Not a bp issue.

    This is a known, unfixed issue with wp and thus wpmu and thus bp. It comes from wp using server time instead of gmt time.

    People let me say this clearly: BP DOES NOT CHANGE THE PERMALINK STRUCTURE OF ANY BLOG!

    There is no instance of the global object $wp_rewrite in any bp code or any call to $wp_rewrite->set_permalink_structure()

    Not in the member theme, not in the home theme and not in any bp plugin.

    bp is not changing the permalink structure. The only thing bp does is hijack the word ‘blog’ and load the index.php template. That’s it.

    @pietro28, what version of bp and wpmu are you using? Did you install wpmu in the directory mysite.com/blog ?

    This thread has a solution. It turns off all the auto linking in the profile fields. Right now it’s either on or off.

    Just discovered this one: after integrating bbPress, my tech guy and I first found that all of the existing blog entires an account had created no longer showed up on the profile activity streams or the site wide activity streams. The entries though were still there.

    I don’t understand that part above.

    New blog creation doesn’t show in activity stream.

    Your posts should still be at http://mydomain.com/whatever/post. The url http://mydomain.com uses the home.php template in bp. That overrides index.php that is used if home.php doesn’t exist. If home.php exists in the theme directory the only way to run index.php is to trap something like ‘blog’ and then load that index.php template.

    This is normal behavior for any wp theme that uses home.php. bp doesn’t change the permalink structure of your blog.

    You can not use home.php if you like by deleting it from the theme directory or renaming it to something like home.php.off

    That will get you index.php being used.

    Each blog has it’s own set of users. Site Admin > Users > Delete is different than Users > Authors and Users > Delete.

    Site Admin is site wide for all blogs. When you use that you’ll see the blogs that the user has a role in listed before you delete. If you delete the users through Users then it’s just for that blog you are currently visiting.

    I’m not trolling Farms.

    I just wanted to know if I’m gonna be able to actually use any of the ideas you get from this thread. If they surface in an Insub product and you use the same restrictive licensing that is attached to the TOS plugin, I won’t be able to.

    Licensing is important to me. I got my answer. You can have your thread back.

    Farms, I was serious when I invited you guys to do some heavy lifting. From my earlier post in this thread:

    Developing new member themes seem to be the challenging area that needs attention. Since the gurus are asking, I suggest you folks do some heavy lifting in that area.

    What I meant by ‘heavy lifting’ was to develop themes and plugins that include new and exiting concepts. Things that can be used as models. Products that can be copied and extended to improve the community we all operate in. Themes and plugins that other developers find valuable.

    ‘Value’ to me is code I can learn from, use, include, modify and reuse without restriction. I know that Incsub’s products, services and success are based on code that was freely shared without restriction.

    Have you forgotten where you came from?

    Farms, that’s not what a copyright is. From wikipedia:

    Copyright is a form of intellectual property which gives the creator of an original work exclusive rights for a certain time period in relation to that work, including its publication, distribution and adaptation; after which time the work is said to enter the public domain. […]

    This means I can’t modify, adapt or distribute something that simply has Copyright stamped on it. That’s what a copyright is for. To restrict the rights of others.

    I guess I’m asking why it doesn’t have a GPL, or something similar, license?

    @burtadsit

    I downloaded the TOS plugin and the license just says: “Copyright © 2009 Incsub. All rights reserved.”

    Exactly what does that mean?

    Can you withdraw my rights to use the plugin if I piss you off? The plugin might be freely available but that doesn’t mean I have any rights at all. Can I modify this for my personal use? Can I distribute a fixed version to my friends?

    A license that says “This is mine” isn’t a license.

    djpaul, if this is still a question in your mind, turn the light back on. This has degenerated into off topic banter. :)

    Still interested? Try an enhancement ticket in trac.

    Saw somthing related to this float thru svn. Week old. No traffic. Red light off.

    Is this still an issue? Thought that dumping the widgets after installing the localization file and then putting them back in again fixes this problem.

    Fixed in trunk.

    I’m guessing that your bp prob was solved by upgrading to latest trunk. The bbpress issue can be solved by upgrading to the latest of that as well. Sam fixed that.

    Brent, is this resolved?

    @burtadsit

    bp can’t have case insensitive searches built into the core oldskoo1. unicode. Andy only fixed part of that ticket and I wondered why till just now. It occurred to me that we use unicode. Case conversions are language dependent. php up/low fns for strings trash unicode strings.

    You can do that kind of thing but bp can’t release something that doesn’t adhere to localization possibilities.

    holdench, some of the variables between operating systems that could be hosed in the Windows version are:

    Check that the bp user you have in bbPress Forums config on the bp side has ‘administrator’ rights.

    Check that you have user switching turned on in bb-config.php with this:

    $bb->bb_xmlrpc_allow_user_switching = true;

    Lots of little things can be off. If any ONE isn’t right, things get weird or just don’t work period.

    Following the chain of functions:

    <?php $posts = bp_blogs_get_latest_posts( null, $options ) ?>

    to this:

    function bp_blogs_get_latest_posts( $blog_id = null, $limit = 5 ) {

    global $bp;

    if ( !is_numeric( $limit ) )

    $limit = 5;

    return BP_Blogs_Post::get_latest_posts( $blog_id, $limit );

    }

    gets me to this:

    function get_latest_posts( $blog_id = null, $limit = 5 ) {

    global $wpdb, $bp;

    if ( !$bp->blogs )

    bp_blogs_setup_globals();

    if ( $blog_id )

    $blog_sql = $wpdb->prepare( ” AND p.blog_id = %d”, $blog_id );

    $post_ids = $wpdb->get_results( $wpdb->prepare( “SELECT DISTINCT p.post_id, p.blog_id FROM {$bp->blogs->table_name_blog_posts} p LEFT JOIN {$wpdb->base_prefix}blogs b ON p.blog_id = b.blog_id WHERE b.public = 1 AND b.deleted = 0 AND b.archived = ‘0’ AND b.spam = 0 AND b.mature = 0 $blog_sql ORDER BY p.date_created DESC LIMIT $limit” ) );

    for ( $i = 0; $i < count($post_ids); $i++ ) {

    $posts[$i] = BP_Blogs_Post::fetch_post_content($post_ids[$i]);

    }

    return $posts;

    }

    Where I see that changing ‘null’ to ‘1’ in bp_blogs_get_latest_posts() will get me posts only from blog id 1.
