    Chris, looking at your site again. Why is it coming up 404? I have to work through the sequence from the member theme to bp trying to load that file. Working on it..

    modemlooper, can you put things back to the way they were on your site please. Gotta check it the way it’s supposed to be. bp-core-ajax-handler.php

    Thinks are kinda funcky there now. :)

    modemlooper, the wire pagination link is not the one you mentioned above. It should be:

    http://example.com/members/user/?wpage=2

    I’m on my way to look at your site now. I looked at Chris’s already. Can’t determine the problem just by looking at it though. At least not yet.

    Gimme a few.

    @awarner20 your problem with the email friendship requests is a bug. Can’t be solved with a one liner. Sorry. I did submit a workaround patch in trac though:

    https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/519

    It eliminates the problem by eliminating the problem. Lemme explain. When a user requests friendship an email is sent out to the destination user. The destination user is supposed to click the link and it automatically approves or rejects the request. Doesn’t work due to the fact that a security mechanism is being used to validate the process. The ‘nonce’ security scheme uses the originating user’s identity and some other stuff to come up with this ‘nonce’ key. The key is only valid when used by the originating user.

    When the destination user clicks on the link the key is used but they are not the originating user. So the security check fails. Andy is aware of the problem. I just removed the automatic accept/reject links and used a link to the destination user’s friendship notifications page where it will have to be manually accepted or rejected.

    @awarner20 working on your problem now. Got an idea now that I have a reproducible problem. Hang in there.

    Oh. So that is your site. Wasn’t really reading it properly. Sorry. No, no way to just flip a switch in the backend that I’m aware of. Lemme go try this on your site and see what firebug says. Gotta look at it and all the other environmental things going on.

    modemlooper, can you do me a favor? Change line 29 in the file:

    /mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-cssjs.php

    to this:

    '<script type="text/javascript">var ajaxurl = "' . get_blog_option(1, 'siteurl') . '/' . MUPLUGINDIR . '/bp-core/bp-core-ajax-handler.php' . '";</script>';

    That should solve the 404 problem on your site.

    Cris, ya I see yours in firebug and it’s getting 404. Permissions are 755 on that directory and file?

    twitterific.com? no, not even close to being right. hmm. What’s the url of your site again? Can you point me to your site please?

    @burtadsit

    Looking at why your sites are generating 404s for the ajax handler code. Shouldn’t happen. Does this file exist and does it have permissions of 755?

    /wp-content/mu-plugins/bp-core/bp-core-ajax-handler.php

    That kind of thing happens if you email provider decides that the mail is spam and doesn’t even let you see it. It gets blocked before you get it. Hotmail as email provider does this alot. Look in your ‘spam’ folder.

    Just getting situated here this morning. Gotta go look at this thread again.

    Perhaps I should be grateful that IE is a piece of quirky, ‘ungraceful’ trash.

    No there’s no debug mechanism for the group forums. It’s supposed to just be correct. :) Here’s a little test rig I created that just tests the connection link between mu and bbpress.

    http://ourcommoninterest.org/downloads/xmlrpc-test-rig.zip

    It’s a wpmu client plugin and a bbpress server plugin. All it does is use the settings found in site admin > bbpress forums and makes bbpress say ‘hello’.

    Uses the URL, username, and password. Authenticates them and says ‘hello’.

    @burtadsit

    Participant

    @john.. no there isn’t anything like a ‘hello’ you can do. There is an xmlrpc function that does that but you have to have the link between them working for it to return anything. Lemme see what I can cobble together from the bbGroups plugin. I actually used that ‘say hello’ fn to see if I had a link going or if it was just my plugins not working right.

    Hi John, the funniest part is that if you look in the code I posted as a comment “It’s this: …” in that ticket, you’ll see that the span tag is obviously sitting there as <span> … <span> instead of <span> … </span>

    :)

    John, the user you use for group forums just has to have an ‘Administrator’ role or better. Keymaster should work. You should be aware that the password for that user is stored on the wpmu side in plain text in the blog 1 meta data table. Gotta have access to phpmyadmin to get it but..

    Your permalinks on the bbpress side don’t have anything to do with it at all. XMLRPC is used and the only query for any type of asset by URL is to the xmlrpc.php file. Permalinks don’t come into play at all. As long as the wpmu side can find your site’s root url and the xmlrpc.php file that is supposed to live there all is well.

    Don’t know about the deep integration question.

    I followed all the steps and it still wasn’t working. I was doing everything right. I did everything right about 10 times. Still wasn’t working. This thread is me finding out why: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=426

    The problem is with the ‘recent blog posts’ widget? No, never heard of that so far.

    @awarner20 Grand Haven? Ya, right down the street. Used to live in Muskegon now Grand Rapids and next week moving to Williamsburg VA. I get around. :)

    Chris use this site to post what you want: http://pastie.org

    You can choose language: ‘plain text’ then post the url in the address bar you get after you say ‘paste’

    I’m not really sure where to put it yet Chris. I’ve got my girlfriend coming over for dinner so it’ll have to be later this eve.

    Bill how much memory do you have available on your server with apache loaded and running? In my case it idles at like 57%. bp/wpmu is not a small thing when actually running.

    Andy and I were kinda thinking it might be related to that. Just that the widget triggers the problem.

    @burtadsit

    ozpoker, if you are using the bbGroups plugin the avatar is available to you. See the readme.txt for some info on the template tags that are included. One is oci_user_avatar(). It comes across and gets put in bbpress user meta data.

    His previous post on same problem https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1256

    I can point to other threads about this same issue on the mu forums by Bill. Wouldn’t do much good though it’s the same problem and there was no resolution over there either.

    I don’t know how the problem was resolved in the thread above. I was just told by Bill that it was fixed in a PM. I got the impression that Bill had found the problem and it was a *smack forehead* duh! kinda thing. I didn’t pursue it any further. Closed the topic so people wouldn’t think it was an outstanding issue.

    Nobody else is having this particular issue and yes it’s been going on for some time now.

    What host do the three of you have? We’ve seen some bizarre problems with certain hosts. Any error messages in the apache or php logs? Chris says none.

    Looking at your phpinfo() Chris…

    (Thinking out loud)

    Your settings that differ

    memory_limit – 64m

    register_globals – ON

    How much memory do the three of you have available to you to execute apache/wpmu/bp on your servers?
