In reply to: “Next page” problem
@advinchi this is an open source, community effort. Join in and fix it. BP is also Beta software. You are running this on a production server?
In reply to: Older Entries Not WorkingThis is a known and reported problem: https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/330
In reply to: Group Forum topic posting errorDid you previously have group forums installed and operating correctly?
In reply to: magic disappearing groupsThe groups directory when initially run displays groups with the most ‘recent activity’ first. When you first create a group nothing has happened in that group yet. It hasn’t had any recent activity.
In reply to: Removing Buddypress from WordPressMUYou just remove the components that live in /mu-plugins.
In reply to: Problems with umlautsI wish I could reproduce your problem. It’s tough to track down a problem if it isn’t reproducible somehow.
In reply to: Can only add widgets to left-columnYour wpmu and/or bp install doesn’t seem right. Can you create new blogs and use them? Post to a subdomain blog? I didn’t see any other blogs on your site.
If in the wpmu backend you don’t even see any ‘center-column’, ‘left-column’, ‘right-column’ or ‘blog-sidebar’ as options then you certainly have problems.
What does your apache error log say?
In reply to: Refresh/update widgetYou should try the widget’s author for questions like this.
In reply to: Is Anyone Else Having This “Log Out” Problem.I remember seeing a fix float through svn related to a login/logout problem. If you are running the beta download, try upgrading to the svn trunk. https://svn.buddypress.org/trunk
The xprofile_filter_link_profile_data() function takes 3 params nicola. You are telling wp that the function call takes only 1 with add_filter(‘whatever’,’something’,1,1)
There are no defaults for that xprofile function so it crashes. Gotta specify 3 and pass 3 params.
add_filter(‘whatever’,’something’,1,3)
In reply to: Can only add widgets to left-columnbp version? wpmu version? Any custom mods to bp or wpmu code? What blog is the home theme running on? Link to your site? Some details would be helpful.
In reply to: How to add php to a wpmu page???I’m not sure what you mean by:
“but when I click “submit” to execute the script…I just get the index page.”
What submit? You aren’t going to be executing a script at all. wp does that when a user clicks on the link for the page.
In reply to: missing files?Sounds like an .htaccess problem. Any modifications to the standard wpmu .htaccess file?
In reply to: Problems with umlautsIn bp_forums_filter_encode() line 42 should read:
$content = htmlentities( $content, ENT_COMPAT, "UTF-8" );What does yours say?In reply to: Problems with umlautsIf you enter umlaut chars in the content of a forum post from bp and they are displayed correctly in bbpress then the problem isn’t the ‘encoding’ filter. It’s the ‘decoding’ filter which has an extra step in it.
On the decoding site in bp when the content comes back from bbpress we also call another filter inside the decode filter. This one is called: wp_filter_kses() and it gets called from the bp filter bp_forums_filter_decode() in bp-forums-filters.php.
If commenting out the line in my previous message doesn’t solve the problem then uncomment the line in the above message and try commenting out line 53 which reads
$content = stripslashes( wp_filter_kses( $content ) );.In reply to: Problems with umlautsI can’t reproduce the problem you are describing.
In bp the title of a post going from bp group forums to bbpress goes through all the same filtering as the content except the following:
wpautop
make_clickable
bp_forums_filter_encode / bp_forums_filter_decode filters. The content gets that treatment.
Are your umlaut chars showing ok in bbpress if you enter them from bp forums?
Just to narrow things down. Can you temporarily comment out line 4 in bp-forums-filters.php which reads: add_filter( ‘bp_forums_new_post_text’, ‘bp_forums_filter_encode’ );
Then try adding a new post with umlaut chars. This filter needs to be there but let’s see if it is the problem.
In reply to: Link Profile Field TypeHowdy. I don’t see any way to do this other than disabling the ‘make everything a search term’ filter which exists in bp-xprofile-filters.php. That filter is called ‘xprofile_filter_link_profile_data’ and you can disable it by creating a small plugin file which contains the following:
remove_filter( 'bp_the_profile_field_value', 'xprofile_filter_link_profile_data',2 );Then the new ‘make clickable’ filter can take over and voila. You got a link if the user enters http://myblog.yoursite.org
There are other ways of doing this but this seems to be the easiest and fastest.
Create a profile field called ‘my blog’, make it a textfield and you’re done.
You might want to post a bug ticket in trac that details your inability to do this. An enhancement ticket might suggest a ‘make searchable’ on/off button for all profile fields. ‘eh?
In reply to: Plugin Initialization on BP LinksSometimes it just takes a different pair of eyes.
In reply to: How to browse older blog postSuch a capability does not exist yet.
In reply to: member templatesWhat templates? The blog themes on testbp.org? If so then you can get them at: http://svn.automattic.com/wpcom-themes
I think they come from there.
In reply to: Weird exception or bug in group members listCan you post this in trac please? https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket
In reply to: Wire message could not be posted. Please try again.@poetrysocial you are having some problems installing the wire component?
In reply to: How to browse older blog postThe ‘news’ button in the home theme displays the blog posts of whatever blog it’s installed on.
In reply to: Editing BBPress users…Page not foundSee this topic for help getting group forums up and running https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=471
In reply to: missing files? This happens when you are in the backend of wpmu only? Dashboard, editing posts… that area.
