    Documentation for all things bpc is on the way. In the mean time from the template tag function you can use ‘format=list’.

    <?php oci_the_cloud_members("smallest=8&largest=14&unit=pt&format=list") ?>

    haha. Sorry. I love your ‘What are these?’ giant red arrows. Those are ‘tag’ icons. If the post has tags associated with it that appears.

    /themes/bphome/images/tag_icon.gif

    Look in the css directory in the home theme. base.css file:

    .post span.tags {
    background: url(../images/tag_icon.gif) center left no-repeat;
    padding-left: 1.6em;
    float: left;
    }

    lol. Thank you for providing the exact info, with fancy diagrams, that was needed to answer your question. If they are showing up without any tags actually associated with each post then I’d say it’s a bug in the IE css. Or a bug in IE that prevents it from operating like every other browser on the planet. I think we politely call them ‘quirks’.

    I knew something was missing from the directories. I’ll fix that with something like:

    Viewing 1 of 5 Members for the category ‘The Category Name’ at the top of the directory listing. I’ll fix that for the tags also. Thanks.

    OK. Well I’m glad things are working for you now. :)

    The activity streams issue is related to bp 1.0.1 other people seem to be having a similar problem with that verison of bp.

    If you are using bp 1.0.1 then you need to be using bpc alpha 2.1 which is here:

    http://ourcommoninterest.org/downloads/bpcontents10a21.zip

    The alpha 2 version will not work properly with bp 1.0.1.

    I don’t think I really understand the issue. You are having problems with bpc activated? They go away when you deactivate the plugin?

    I’m upgrading another site to bp 1.0.1 and I’ll see if I have any issues there like you are describing.

    1) Upgrade to bp 1.0.1 with bpc alpha 2 running.

    – Member directory stops working as expected

    – Everything else seems to be working fine

    2) Upgrade to bpc alpha 2.1

    – Member directory works fine now

    Default bp home theme and member theme.

    The issues you describe with activity, friends and other things in bp not working after the 1.0.1 upgrade seem to be related to the bp 1.0.1 upgrade, not bpc. bpc doesn’t touch any of those areas.

    Did you re-download and install bp 1.0.1 or get it from SVN? It sounds like you are still running the broken bp 1.0.1.

    @Michael Berra, I agree on the sitewide total content tag cloud. I’m working on it. The other thing you brought up about forcing categories on people is a site designer issue. bpc can provide you with the categories and the ability to do that.

    The purpose of bpc is to allow programmers and designers to have the tools to accomplish a variety of things they couldn’t before. I’m going to focus on providing tools and abilities. The features you are seeing now are just eye candy that is useful. It’s a demonstration of what can be accomplished with bpc.

    chouf1, the bpc 1.0 alpha 2.1 version is only if you are running bp 1.0.1.

    If you updated to bp 1.0.1 in the first few hours of it’s life, you should download and install it again. That initial release had some problems with certain sites and plugins. The problems were fixed and you should download and install bp 1.0.1 again.

    The exact symptoms you are describing are what I ran into also with bp 1.0.1. Andy fixed a couple of things and updated the download. The changes were just slipstreamed. The version number wasn’t bumped.

    Not sure exactly what “if current page is profile page” means. You can check if the current user is in *their* profile with bp_is_home(). It returns true if the user is viewing their own profile. You can find out what user is being displayed with $bp->displayed_user->id

    Can one of you post a ticket in trac about this with a patch please? You seem to have found a solution. Same login as here.

    @roy , well what happens is that when you create a category, doesn’t matter where, it uses the exact string you type in as the title for the term and then strips it down and sanitizes it for the term’s slug. Part of that stripping and sanitization is to convert the title to lower case.

    If you use a non-capitalized word such as ‘burt’ the first time you create the term. That becomes the title and the slug. If you use ‘Burt’ the first time a term is created then the title becomes ‘Burt’ and the slug becomes ‘burt’.

    See the post above about terms. In any case if anywhere, in any tag or category use a lower case word then it uses that lower case word as the title.

    I’m working on alpha 3 which will include the ability to alter the title and description for terms after they are created.

    @roy mckenzie, it should accept upper case. New categories for which area? Members, Groups or Blogs?

    Hey Manoj, I’m adding tags to your current version with bpcontents. It gives me the opportunity to show developers how easy it is to integrate with bpc. I’ll send you the changes so you can take a look at this.

    I hope you don’t mind.

    Yes, thanks Daniel. I got your .po, .mo files. Much appreciated. Your suggestion about the language file setup will be in the next version.

    Most excellent chouf1.

    chouf1, I don’t have any .po files for this at all. I’m aware of the date issue. The terms table description is empty because there is no description for all the terms. Just name and slug. There is no way to maintain the name or description of the terms being created in this version.

    “which terms?’ The terms the table holds all the terms for the tags and categories in bpc. Each tag/category is an instance of a term. When you create a tag what you are actually doing is creating a node in the content tree:

    class OCI_Node{

    var $id;
    var $slug;
    var $lft;
    var $rgt;

    var $node_type; // container, item
    var $node_type_id; // id of to container or item in appropriate table
    var $node_type_id_type; // type of item if item
    var $parent_id;

    [snip]

    The node var $node_type_id points to a record in the terms table if the $node_type is a container (tag or cat). All tags with the same slug share the same term. So the tag ‘burt’ in one member’s profile refers to the same term as tag ‘burt’ in another member’s profile.

    Anointed, it allows you to tag members, groups and blogs in the same way you tag blog posts or forum posts.

    Chouf1, I’ll update the readme.txt to say ‘Your currently active bp theme’.

    @burtadsit

    Are you using the standard bp member theme? That is the error message that you will get when bpc can’t find the template files. The bpc template directory is /plugins/oci-contents/oci-contents not the entire plugin directory. I’ve put the entire plugin directory in the member theme directory by mistake before.

    @burtadsit

    Participant

    Did you move the template directory /oci-contents/oci-contents to /bp-themes/bpmember/oci-contents?

    You need to get the owner of the blog, then get the avatar for the owner. Something like:

    $blog = new BP_Blogs_Blog($blog_id);

    $av = bp_core_get_avatar($blog->user_id);

    bp_core_get_avatar() has lots of options. Or $user = new BP_Core_User($blog->user_id) for even more stuff related to the user who owns the blog.

    @burtadsit

    This may be related to your profile links issue. What blog id are you using for BP_ROOT_BLOG?

    @burtadsit

    Participant

    You got any fancy domain mapping going on?

    Do you have some blog other than blog id 1 as the BP_ROOT_BLOG?

    What that displays is the site url for the current blog. Go to that blog id and in Site Admin > Blogs then from the list choose Edit. You’ll see your ‘siteurl’ defined down in blog options.

    Whatever url is there is your siteurl. That’s what gets used.

    That would be an interesting and useful thing. I don’t have time to help at the moment.
