Howdy, yes there is. It’s just not documented in the codex. Works the same though.

    See: /buddypress/bp-forums/bp-forums-templatetags.php

At the moment my only plans are to finish and release bpc alpha 3.

This is a documented developer version with some code cleanup and bug fixes.

A reworking of the tag clouds and category trees to be more generic.

Adding sub-categories to the site admin user interface. bpc does this but the category maintenance screen didn’t.

Is your wpmu installed using sub-directories? I can’t tell from your message if the ‘community’ directory is just a sub-dir you’ve installed wpmu in or is it a blog domain?

The redirect loop issue was seen in the first release of 1.0.1. Try downloading and installing 1.0.1 again.

I think that your host/server is getting overloaded by the launch Timothy. :)

This isn’t in the plugins directory yet but it sounds like what you are interested in. Get you part of the way there anyway.

Your ‘My Blogs’ menu alignment is not corrrect? What version buddypress and what theme are you using? Can you post a link to your site?

    Anybody speak Turkish?

I just found a new option that may relate to your problem BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG. It looks like if you define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true) in your bp-custom.php file it allows bp to hijack urls on all blogs. Thus getting your links to work.

Note: I just tested this and it works.

    You seem to be trying to use the bp home theme as the default theme for all new blogs. Is that right? The bp home theme was not designed to be used across all blogs. If you are getting 404 errors when using the bp home theme on subdomains, then you will get these errors you describe. You can pick the blog id that the bp home theme operates on with define( ‘BP_ROOT_BLOG’, 1 );

I think you need to clarify what your problem is andre09. There are two themes available in bp. The member theme and the home theme. I’m totally confused as to which one you are talking about and what the issue is.

@slicktig1, there are a couple of plugins related to blog defaults. See : http://wpmudev.org/project/New-Blog-Defaults

I think that is the cets blog defaults widget that has been updated and put on wpmudev.org. If I remember correctly, it has a default widgets option.

Can you give us some example links please? Groups don’t use wp’s permalink structure.

You can add any content in bp, to any blog, using any theme, any place in that theme. You aren’t restricted to just the widgets.

Nobody has deleted your post. The akismet spam police pick up suspect posts and toss them into the akismet jail some times though.

“i need to change the main title of my bp isntall as i have changed my name about the name of the website i cant seem to find out how to change it”

I don’t know what you are trying to change.

I don’t really understand when you want to disable the adminbar but this is a fairly easy thing. See: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic.php?id=1115 for the general idea.

You don’t want it on the root blog but you do want it on the subdomain blogs? You’ll have to wrap that in some blog detection code then. Disable it when global $current_blog->id is anything but 1.

The first thing I have to do is alter the category creation UI to allow creating sub-categories. It’ll be in alpha 3.

This is fixed in the bp trunk. You can wait for bp 1.0.2 or download the trunk version from here:

John is right when he says the bpc doesn’t do what magicdust wants to do. bpc organizes ‘things’ into a tree of ‘things’. It would be possible to create a tree of categories like magicdust wants with bpc. However it would just be the list of categories.

Custom code would have to be written to take that tree of categories and *do* something with them. Once you do something with the tree of categories, like sign up a user to a top level category and allow them to choose a sub-category, then bpc can record the fact that the user is now a member of top level cat X and sub-cat Y.

Here’s a use case for bpc in this situation. Given the category tree structure created in bpc of:

    Australia

    — sydney

    —- grads 2000

    —- grads 1999

    —- grads 1998

    — melbourne

    —- grads 2000

    —- grads 1999

    —- grads 1998

    — brisbane

    —- grads 2000

    —- grads 1999

    —- grads 1998

One way to implement this is, display the tree to the user. Allow them to select the ‘grad year’ such as ‘brisbane/grads 2000’. Get the results back from the user selection form. See that they have selected ‘brisbane/grads 2000’ and make them members of the ‘brisbane/grads 2000’ group, the ‘brisbane’ group and the ‘australia’ groups.

Or display a list of the australia cities as links allowing the user do drill down into one city and select a grad year. How you implement the selection process depends on how you want the groups to be setup. Do you really want individual groups for each city and year? Or do you just want individual groups for each city and allow the user to select a grad year. Then organize things with each city group depending on what grad year they are?

The selection process that is implemented is directly related to the design of the group structure. It just reflects that structure.

Well, you could take the fn bp_core_get_avatar() in bp-core-avatars.php, rework it a bit to get the bp avatar and operate in bbpress. The avatar path, if one exists, lives in user meta which is reachable from bbpress without deep integration or a plugin of any sort.

    @burtadsit

Well, that doesn’t even look like bp code. I’m not sure that the issue is related to bp at all. Maybe if you gave more information somebody could help.

    bp version?

    wpmu version?

    theme?

gpo1, that’s the plan when it gets out of alpha. ‘Soon now’. :)

Oh, ya. I’m a programmer. A project is never ‘finished’.

I’m not sure if it’s the ‘artists’ mentality that does it or the fact it’s just extremely well done. It has all the normal components of a community/social site but the secret ingredient may be the nature of the content.

It’s a product of the skill and creativity of all those individuals. Using each others ideas and work to create new things. It’s not exactly collaboration but mutual respect and competition. It’s not competition either. It’s joy, participation and showing off.

Whatever it is it just plain works well.

zenimot, by the time the filter gets it the title string is set. You’ll have to parse the string to rearrange things. Or just replace the functionality of bp_get_page_title() inside your filter to arrange things as you want.

The title will be whatever your filter returns.

The bpc categories can be hierarchial like you describe Anointed. All content in bpc is a tree of either containers (tags and categories) or content items. Containers can have child containers. Categories are containers. So categories can have child categories like you describe.

The current user interface just doesn’t do that. I’m working on the docs for bpc right now. The next release will be a programmer’s version with all the classes and functions documented. People will be able to create whatever they want.

What version bp? If this is bp 1.0.1 re-download and install again.
