Thank you @danbp!!!
You just saved me from many headaches!!!
Thank you @danbp
But how can I create a new topic answer for another member? Is this possible?
Is there any way to make the icons following the privacy rules of the related profile fields?
Hi @danbp
I tried the way you suggested and it works.
I would like to ask if there is any way the social media icons to follow the privacy rules of the related custom profile fields.
Thank you!
Sorry, I couldn’t think this way.
I had in my mind that maybe a company would like to create a private community, so it would make sense to select “Discourage search engines from indexing this site” but without losing the feature of updating the activity stream…
Well, still doesn’t make sense to me to consider it a feature but that’s just me 🙂
Thank you @shanebp for the info,
Hopefully there will be a solution in a future update.
Hi again,
I just found the problem and wasn’t the 4.0.1 version of WordPress.
Just for your info see here: https://bbpress.org/forums/topic/wp-search-engine-visibility-causes-issue-in-displaying-bbpress-in-bp-activity/
Thank you!
Sorry @shanebp you have right!
Thank you @shanebp for checking it
In my case the problem occurred after updating WordPress to the 4.0.1. Everything was ok before that.
I didn’t change anything (e.g. plugins).
Any advice about what I could check?
I found it!
The plugin which causes this issue is: BuddyPress Friends On-line (FOL)
Deactivating it the button turns back to normal “Cance Friendship”I hope this info will help other people 🙂
Regards!
Thank you @mercime.
I changed to TwnetyFourteen but still the same issue.
Guessing that maybe it is a plugin…?
I can’t start activating/deactivating them, as the site is published though. I ll try to think something
Hi @mercime
I really appreciate your help.
1) I use a hosting provider – linux – apache server. (php 5.3.29)
2) It is a single installation
3) This is my .htaccess file
# BEGIN WordPress
<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>
RewriteEngine On
RewriteBase /
RewriteRule ^index\.php$ – [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . /index.php [L]
</IfModule>
# END WordPressI think that you can see/change this info because you are administrator.
Try to create another user as a simple participant and check the same screens. Normally, you won’t be able to change anything.
Hi @mercime
I talked with my users and all of them in some “phase” saw the following message:
Authorization Required
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g., bad password), or your browser doesn’t understand how to supply the credentials required.
This is something everyone had in common!
Hi @mercime
Thank you very much for your answer.
The pending users list is empty. I will also export a list with the plugins pasting it here in a few minutes.
The problem is that I can’t replicate this issue as three of eight users faced this issue and furthermore I created many users testing registration/activation/login without facing any problem.
I use this theme:
Can anyone replicate the issue?
Ok. I hope a solution will be found. Thank you.
Hi there,
I face the same problem.
Buddypres: 2.1
Wordpress: 4.0
Theme: TwentyFourteenI created a new ticket as I was told here: https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5890
I hope that I did the procedure well.
It is a crucial issue for us, who use non-latin characters and hopefully there will be a solution 🙂
I appreciate your time.
Hi @danp
If I write the title in English there is no problem. The problem occurs only with greek characters.
I removed the greek translation of WB an BP but still no luck.
The strange part (as I see it) it is that the issue occurs only for the freshness column of the Sitewide Activity post. Everywhere else the link is ok.
I hope a solution will be found.
Thank you
Hi @danbp
I really appreciate your efforts.
The issue with the link is appeared in the freshness column of the site wide activity. The freshness column on the forum is indeed ok.
For me, let’s say that the working link for my forum topic is:
http://mysite.com/groups/group-name/forum/topic/ένας-εξαιρετικά-μεγάλος-τίτλος-για-να/This link is working great everywhere except of the freshness column (the ago thing) in Sitewide activity. Clicking on this link you get:
http://mysite.com/groups/group-name/forum/topic/ένας-εξαιρετικά-
where points nowhere.I tested without any plugin but BP and bbP, theme: Twenty Fourteen
Thank you very much.
Finally, in my case the problem was solved by switching the time setting (Dashboard – Settings – General – Timezone) from location to UTC.
Regards
Hi there,
Digging a bit I found this topic that describes my problem as well.
Could you please inform me how to solve the issue with the time difference between bbpress and buddy press?
Buddypress: 2.0.3
Wordpress: 4.0
BBPress: 2.5.4
Theme: Twenty FourteenRegards
Hi @hnla,
I respect your approach but I can’t totally agree :-). Anyway, your suggestion about the statement in a set of terms & conditions is the solution I all ready choose.
Of course there is always @danbp’s solution about deactivating the private message component. It will “break” the community spirit though.
Thank you all for sharing your thoughts on this 🙂
Hi again,
I wish I was living in a candy word but it seems that this world is not somewhere close 🙂
At least for the passwords it will take some effort! 🙂
