In reply to: How private are private messages?
@Chccclay – Theirs no admin screen to read them, however unlike passwords which are hashed, messages are readable in plain text via the database. So, to answer your question, if you have database access then yes. you can read them.
In reply to: bp_get_profile_field_data in group members loopWhat data where you hoping to get?
off the top of my head, if i remember correctly
`groups_get_groupmeta( $group->id, ‘description’ );` will return the group description.In reply to: Redirect once user logs inSounds like this plugin may help.
In reply to: How to list all members of a BuddyPress Website?i don’t believe their are any plugins available that would help, so if your uncomfortable with code, you may need to hire a developer.
Otherwise, if your a developer or atleast somewhat comfortable around code then the members loop (1) sounds exactly like what your after with some help from this tutorial (2) from @sbrajesh
(1) https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-members-loop/
(2) http://buddydev.com/buddypress/exclude-users-from-members-directory-on-a-buddypress-based-social-network/In reply to: [resolved] How to edit Buddypress Profile MenuAdding links to the profile nav can be done with the bp_core_new_nav_item() function.
Refer to Codex: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/functions/core/bp_core_new_nav_item/
In reply to: stop loading Site wide activityWithin activity/activity-loop you will want to change bp_has_activities to include scope=friends.
CODEX: https://codex.buddypress.org/developer-docs/custom-buddypress-loops/the-activity-stream-loop/
In reply to: [resolved] How to edit Buddypress Profile MenuTheirs no backend feature like WordPress’ has for navigation menus.
However, this might help…
http://bp-tricks.com/snippets/code/arrange-group-profile-navigation-menu/In reply to: [RESOLVED] Php redirect issue@fmeroney Was this what you where after?
https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/wp_redirectWith bp_loggedin_user_domain() as the location
woops, just noticed that i accidentally put in $bp->loggedin_user->domain – Sorry! change it to – $bp->displayed_user->domain
Should fix your issue assuming that it’s grabbing the author name correctly in the ‘loop’. [haven’t tested it] If it doesn’t work you may need to use (off the top of my head)
`<?php
$args = array( ‘author’ => bp_displayed_user_id() );$the_query = new WP_Query( $args );
// The Loop
if ( $the_query->have_posts() ) :
while ( $the_query->have_posts() ) : $the_query->the_post();
// Do Stuff (This is where you would put the_title, the_content etc. whatever you want to show)
endwhile;
endif;// Reset Post Data
wp_reset_postdata();
?>`In reply to: [RESOLVED] Php redirect issue@fmeroney – Your example was eaten by the forum software (it happens when you don’t use “backticks“ around your code)
But, i’m guessing this is what your looking for? https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-redirect-to-profile/
In reply to: problems with buddypress site hosting@lovefishing – Did you have any extra plugins installed? I’ve heard of people getting suspended for a BuddyPress plugin using too much CPU but not from using BuddyPress out of the box. (personally, i was able to get a site to 1000 active users on one site on hostgator shared hosting before i was forced to move)
Also remember that you where on borrowed time. but you can optimize it: https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/improving-performance/
Here you go.
http://pastebin.com/JuTEZ8GBTested this on my local install of BP, so should work.
Woops. Change the parent_url to ` ‘parent_url’ => trailingslashit( bp_displayed_user_domain() . ‘test_sub’ )`
@tiagobeloto – sorry for the late reply (had afew problems with my own site yesterday
) i don’t think $bp->slug is a proper variable.`bp_core_new_subnav_item( array( ‘name’ => __( ‘Home’ ), ‘slug’ => ‘test_sub’, ‘parent_url’ => $bp->loggedin_user->domain . ‘/’, ‘parent_slug’ => ‘test’, ‘screen_function’ => ‘my_profile_page_function_to_show_screen’ ) );`
In reply to: Integrating Existing Theme with Buddy Press Help??@jkrysto i’m not the greatest with the theme template pack conversion stuff (i prefer to start from scratch) but essentially what it’s asking you to do is make sure that if your page.php has a `
` then you need to include that div within the BuddyPress templates.Theres a hands-on tutorial on integrating the TwentyTen theme with BuddyPress that might help: https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/
In reply to: /activity is missing?@Ubuntuz – Assuming that the activity page is the only page not working then, BuddyPress (with your permission) does create it during the activation process. To check if it was created properly go to your wp-admin and then click Buddypress’ menu and then click the ‘pages’ tab. Does it have a page selected for activity?
Also are you using a custom theme or bp-default theme? if it’s a custom theme then the page will show a white-screen if you do not have an activity/index.php template in your theme.
@vinfamy Theirs a plugin for that.
Cool. What plugin? (For anyone else looking to do the same thing).
@tiagobeloto – It should work.
The code from defunctlife in that thread works perfectly as a copy/paste except for the missing $dispuser variable…What’s the exact code your using?
@jkrysto –
Theirs code snippets around that will help you choose your own default avatar – http://wpmu.org/how-to-add-a-custom-default-avatar-for-buddypress-members-and-groups/Their’s currently no built in screen to do it because BuddyPress inherits some of the WordPress’ philosophy’s Including Decisions not Options “It’s our duty as developers to make smart design decisions and avoid putting the weight of technical choices on our end users.”
Though, it might be a good enhancement ticket in trac.
In reply to: Main Activity Stream: Group Forum & bbPress activityFor those wondering, Full-integration for BBpress is coming in 1.6 (next major release) . https://buddypress.org/about/roadmap/
In reply to: Non-members@ktrojan Sorry, missed your reply.
With BBpress site-wide forums (bbpress 2.0 – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bbpress/) within the forums menu (settings/forums) you can choose to allow “anonymous posting” which will allow non-members to post in it.But, that wont allow anonymous postings within a group, to do that is slightly harder (you’ll need to hire a developer) as it has an extra requirement of being a group member.
In reply to: Image Upload with post@gajananh999 It is possible. It’s rare to find something that’s not possible
The real question is “how difficult?”
The BuddyBoss commercial theme has implemented a feature that attaches an upload button to the activity updates post form – SEE: http://buddyboss.com/
Theirs also afew plugins that adds photo uploading, such as BP Albums – SEE: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-album/ but they are independent of the activity updates post form.
In reply to: Bartending Community@flair1 – Nice site. Just a quick mention though, the Buddybar seems to be covering the site description on some monitors. You might want to either switch to the WordPress toolbar with
`define ( ‘BP_USE_WP_ADMIN_BAR’, true );` in your bp-custom.phpor add some CSS to bump your site down by afew pixels so that it’s underneath the buddybar.
`body {
margin-top: 40px;
}`In reply to: How to override core function?BTW. If you’d like to read more about filters – this one’s a great one. While it’s focused on themes, it’s the exact same theory
