Is there a way to have members just sign up and be able to make a topic in the forums? I’m not sure I’m understanding why they would need to create a group before being able to make a topic.

I guess what I’m asking is, is there a way to just have a site-wide forum instead of individual group forums.

    Good to hear!!

Any temp solutions for now? I’m just trying to make things easier on a client. If not, no big deal.

Thank you ray! Somebody ought to change the information here: https://codex.buddypress.org/how-to-guides/modifying-the-buddypress-admin-bar/

It tells you to put bp-custom.php in /plugins/buddypress

Here is a plugin that uses an smtp server for sending email from WordPress MU blogs. Would this be a viable solution?

Thank you, Jeff. I’ve isolated the problem and the most likely suspect is the mail server since the mail still wasn’t sending with the default theme and all plugins deactivated. When I contact Go Daddy, what specifically should I ask them? Also, what should I look out for in the error log? Thank you so much for your help!

Ah, I think that link disappeared somehow when I shifted some things around. Is there a link I can just insert there using php to create a group?

Thank you, DJPaul. I’m starting to get a clue lol. Just one question – Say I use “Kubrick” for my home/blog theme. How do I get a login/password field in the sidebar? I noticed it’s not one of the widgets. Do I have to grab the code from the admin bar on top and insert it manually into the sidebar?

    Thanks, Ray.

So if I’d like to have a two-column site, would I be able to activate the default Kubrick theme and use it as the blog portion (front page) of my social network? I’d like to have my blog on the front page just like ReadWritePoem. Or would I need to use a theme made for Buddypress like the ‘home’ theme?

Is there a way to just have the admin blog posts on the front page?
