It looks like it provides the ability to add BP shortcodes elsewhere, but not in the extended fields themselves.

I’d actually be fine with being able to add some additional formatting to the description rather than having it stripped away.

IMHO the most simple thing to do, is to add a link to the tutorial on the register page with some description. And to add a tutorial item to one of your site menu.

Regarding mentions, I’m not seeing how spaces in usernames can work. Say hypothetically my username is Henry Wright (note that’s my username and not my display name). How would you mention me in a public message?

@Henry Wright wouldn’t mention me. It’d mention someone with the username @Henry.

Maybe I’m misunderstanding how @-mentions work. The way I see it, if your username is (note the space):

Jane Doe

…and I want to mention you in an update, then I’d write:

@Jane Doe

But, as you can see there is a problem with that. Jane Doe won’t get the notification because somebody with the username @Jane got it instead.

@danbp I look through your links but don’t see the answer to what I’m looking for. I basically want to hide the Administrator’s profile completely from the front end of the site.

@danbp, just to mention, $editor_id is fussy about hyphens. See here. And contrary to the advice in that Codex article, I’ve also found $editor_id dislikes underscores. Best bet is to use lowercase letters only.

Did you copy and paste @danbp‘s code? I haven’t tested it myself but if you have copied his code then it doesn’t look like you’ve copied it properly as some of it is certainly missing. For example, where did this bit in your code snippet come from?
