Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic BuddyPress New User Activation Emails & Resends not working in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 6 years, 10 months ago
Hi Shawn. Short of debugging the outgoing mailbox on your server to verify that the email is actually sent, and then monitoring that inbox for any bounce notifications, no, I don’t have any answers. I think I recall seeing Microsoft’s email services blocking the user registration email because it thinks it’s spam (or a bad link).
You could try,…[Read more]

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Rout "Author" link to BP Profil? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 6 years, 10 months ago
No built-in way to do this.
If you know the basics of WordPress plugins, I think you could use the
author_link
filter to replace out the author archive permalinks. Good luck! -

Hi @ottiya
Good question, but the answer’s hard. You’ll need to learn how to modify WordPress theme templates. Start reading through all the linked pages on https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/ and when you have a specific question after you’ve made a try, let me know.

You are best to ask the plugin authors (if they provide support).
If you’ve tried removing the markup and a space remains, it sounds like you’d need to add some CSS to fix things up. I haven’t tried hacking this plugin like this before, so I can’t offer specific advice.

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Members Component has no Associated Pages in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 6 years, 10 months ago
As long as that Members page isn’t assigned to another component, it’s not obvious why it mightn’t be working. Does the form submit when you click Save, or does nothing happen at all?
Is that Page published?
Have you made any customisations to BuddyPress, or WordPress rewrite rules? -

I think the go-to for this is https://themekraft.com/products/woocommerce-buddypress-integration/ — might be worth a look.

Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic How to customize/remove user dropdown menu? in the forum How-to & Troubleshooting 6 years, 10 months ago
Do you mean on the WordPress Toolbar? (this thing — https://codex.wordpress.org/Toolbar )
If so, if you search for ways to customise or hide the WordPress Toolbar, you should get some clues. It’s not a UI component provided by BuddyPress. -
Paul Wong-Gibbs replied to the topic Show Follow Button on Each Member's Profile Page in the forum Third Party Plugins 6 years, 10 months ago
Hi @ottiya
On the default templates, there is a “Add Friend” button, and we usually position is just below (or next to) the user’s name and avatar picture. But not every theme has to show BuddyPress content in the same way!
If you’ve bought a theme with BuddyPress templates, or customised some yourself, it might be worth going back to where you…[Read more]

Right, it should work. Unless the poster is using Legacy bbPress forums; I bet those don’t.

A future release of BuddyPress is going to have a new set of default templates; this effort is called “Nouveau”. The option you’ve found will control whether a site wants to use the new templates or the old ones.

Nice work! That looks like it ought to work. Assuming you’re logged in. Assuming that user has that capability.
Have you tried adding text or something just output that PHP block, to double-check your edited template is actually being used? You might be touching the wrong file.
Failing that, it might be output, but just hidden by your theme’s…[Read more]

You might be running a theme with BuddyPress-specific files. Have a hunt around your theme, look for a similar structure. etc

Go to
/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-templates/bp-legacy/buddypress/members/
. The four files —activate

No, you’re not. It’s just not used very well. I’d like to get rid of it one day, but we’re trying to get a new theme for the website built first. Sorry for the inconvenience in the meantime.

We used to have testbp.org which last a few years until spam and DOS attacks forced us to take it offline.
Your best best is probably looking through https://wordpress.tv/tag/buddypress/ for recent WordCamp videos, and see if you can find one.

Hi @josselinl
You will have to ignore this nag message, unless perhaps you write some custom CSS to hide this particular nag (for example). Sorry!
