In reply to: Buddypress issue
@jhvaletaolcom @invisibleland could you both please contact your web host and ask them to look in your server’s PHP error log for any Fatal Errors or Notices. If they find anything, please copy/paste those logs here.
In reply to: Activation mails not send after update@dcstyle Not directly for your issue (the success says as far as we can tell, it was delivered to the email server — if you didn’t receive it and if it didn’t get marked as spam, the mail server could have rejected delivery for all kinds of reasons.
We will have a couple of fixes coming into BuddyPress 2.5.1 this week which have a chance of affecting your problem. I think we need to wait for 2.5.1 to come out, then you can update to that, and test again.
Tell me about it. Serious PITA 🙂
In reply to: Activation mails not send after update@karolbielecki The German language pack has not been updated for BuddyPress 2.5, so that’s expected: https://translate.wordpress.org/projects/wp-plugins/buddypress/language-packs
Please start a new support discussion, I don’t think your issues have anything to do with this thread.
No, but WordPress multisite and regular WordPress have different character restrictions in the username.

In reply to: Solved – BP 2.5 Emails not sending@shanebp Can you replace
bp-email-debug.phpwith https://www.dropbox.com/s/yz1155axhbyntw7/bp-email-debug-2.php?dl=0 and run again? It dumps the Email object along with the error message, so I can test some ideas.
Can I also get the URL of the site this is being tested on?Thanks!
In reply to: Solved – BP 2.5 Emails not sendingGood point
In reply to: Solved – BP 2.5 Emails not sending@shanebp That’s interesting. “Could not instantiate mail function” error comes from PHPMailer which (most likely) happens if the PHP
mailcall fails. Is PHP Safe Mode enabled?
In reply to: Certain emails not getting sentSo the
wpMandrillplugin re-implementswp_mail()function which means BuddyPress should be passing on the plain text versions of the BuddyPress emails onto Mandrill. In reply to: Activation mails not send after update@ingeb1983 @dcstyle @ingeb1983 Hi. If any of you are still using BP 2.5 and still have problems and are NOT using “WP-Mail-SMTP” or “Easy WP SMTP” plugins, maybe could you help me test something?
Download this plugin and activate it (it’s called “BP Email Debug”). Then do something to get a BuddyPress email sent — something that you know was working in previous versions that is broken now.
This new plugin should send an email to the Site Admin email address (wp-admin Settings > General > Email Address) containing information that will help us to better understand the problem.
You only need to get 1 or 2 of these emails; you can de-activate the new plugin afterwards (otherwise you could spam yourself!).
Then please share the content of the email here, or email it to me if you don’t want it public.
Thanks
In reply to: BP 2.5 + Transcational email (sendgrid)Let me know how you’d get on. I’d love developer feedback regarding building such extensions.
I don’t know how easy this might be to change at the moment – I think someone would have to write a small plugin – but we are tracking this feature request at https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/5500 for inclusion in a future BuddyPress release.
In reply to: Email situations are blank when editing emailsThis is a known issue. See https://buddypress.org/support/topic/read-this-first-buddypress-2-5-master-list/#post-250544
We’re still trying to figure out the cause.
In reply to: Certain emails not getting sentCan you link me to what Mandrill plugin you are using, please?
In reply to: Emails are going into spam folder in Buddypress 2.5Right, IPs that were previously blacklisted will also have deliverability problems.
About headers, it’s not so much *how* to configure the headers, but what *changes* you might be suggesting we should make.I don’t know what email client you use but pretty much everything lets you view the Raw email, which includes the headers. A quick Google search should help.
On http://whatismyipaddress.com/email-header is an example of what a email header looks like so you know when you’ve found it.
In reply to: BP 2.5 + Transcational email (sendgrid)@nkeatign True, but you’ll be able to take the (rendered) HTML and send that to SendGrid, so it’ll send the nice version of the email.
In reply to: Emails are going into spam folder in Buddypress 2.5@neev07 I’m not sure there’s anything we can do to fix this yet, but you might be able to do some research and figure out if there’s any adjustments we can make.
I suspect the content in the email is going to play a big part (e.g. number of links, images or not, and so on).
For example, you could get a bunch of email accounts on services like Gmail, Hotmail, and others, and creating accounts on your site with those email addresses. Do something in BuddyPress that sends exactly the same email to each user, and then you can check all the inboxes and see if ALL services are spamming the emails, or only some.
The results of that, plus some research on Google, might give us some ideas.
In reply to: Activation mails not send after updateStill thinking about other problems reported in this thread.
In reply to: Activation mails not send after update@fidelleon Thanks for testing!

This will be fixed in BuddyPress 2.5.1.
In reply to: BP 2.5 + Transcational email (sendgrid)@rogercoathup Hi. Assuming those plugins re-implenment
wp_mail(), as I expect most do, yes. Things will continue to work. They’ll get plain text versions of the BuddyPress emails, just the same as in previous BuddyPress releases (though some emails’ sentences have been tweaked/rephrased).
