In reply to: Problem with blog post image alignment
In your source, it seems your images are now appearing after the text. For example:
<p> Martin is a university professor who has a side consulting business in which he helps Fortune 500 companies comply with diversity laws. Most of his clients seek him out because they are being sued for […] <img src="http://marketingrebelclub.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/SF-MH-Martin-Davidson-150x150.jpg"> </p>Before things broke, my guess is you had the images appearing before the text:

Most of his clients seek him out because they are being sued for […] </p>The best way to tackle this is to find out exactly what’s changed this.
In reply to: Conditional PHP for Groupsif ( $group_id == '1' ) { // Do this } else { // Do this }Note: You’ll need to get
$group_idearlier on in your code.In reply to: Remove “Members” and “Viewing” from Members Page. The Viewing X of X members text can be found inside
bp_get_members_pagination_count()The best way to customise it is to localise (use a language file). See the Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs article for more info.
In reply to: Change ’email from’ settings ?A plugin isn’t strictly necessary, it’s just the easiest option. Alternatively, you can use the wp_mail_from and wp_mail_from_name hooks.
In reply to: Change ’email from’ settings ?It is actually the default WordPress from email address and name that are used. If you want to change these, try the WP Change Default Email plugin.
In reply to: What file handles registrationIs the BP part making sure that username is unique?
Yes. That happens here
In reply to: Problem with blog post image alignmentDo you have a link to your site showing a live example?
Just to make sure I understand correctly, if I were to leave out “bbp_topic_create” it would leave the new topics out of the activity feed, but if one member mentioned another in the toipc, that would still display?
Using @danbp’s snippet, that’s exactly what will happen.
In reply to: How to Modify Content Before Saving if to DBIs
bp_activity_post_updatean actual hook? I can’t seem to find it in BP.In reply to: Custom login-formThere will be plugins in the WordPress Plugin Directory that can do both of these things. Theme My Login won’t do exactly what you need but it’s a great plugin I’d recommend if you need to to bring the login page into your theme.
In reply to: Profile avatar directory locationI haven’t tested or looked at the source but I suspect you will need to use my
no_grav()function as well. You could run a quick test to be sure?In reply to: Profile avatar directory locationYou can disable Gravatar like this:
function no_grav() { return true; } add_filter( 'bp_core_fetch_avatar_no_grav', 'no_grav' );In reply to: Profile avatar directory locationThat would be 30 minutes on a good day. At 6:30pm I’d hit the worst traffic imaginable (I’d be coming from the Isle of Dogs). But it’s great to hear it’s a success!
My apologies, yes that’ll change the default avatar. I just re read your whole post and realise that may not be what you want.
In reply to: Profile avatar directory locationCool running club! I was looking to join a club near me but Harold Wood is about a 30 minute drive away.
Regarding your question:
Is there a way of passing this path to Buddypress as the default avatar?
You can filter the default avatar URL using the
bp_core_default_avatar_userhook.Hope this helps!
In reply to: Use “Jetpack publicize” to publish activity updatesAre activity updates a wordpress custom posts types?
No. Activity items aren’t custom posts; instead, they live in the bp_activity table. See here for a diagram.
In reply to: Disqus Comments and BuddyPressThis isn’t possible out-of-the-box but there may be a plugin in the WordPress Plugin Directory that adds Disqus functionality.
Adding items to the BuddyPress activity stream is very easy. Check out the bp_activity_add() article for more info.
In reply to: Message feature CC’s Other Members AutomaticallyThis sounds very strange. If you’re still seeing the problem after you’ve removed all custom code snippets, deactivated all plugins and reverted to TwentyFifteen, then I’d suggest you consider having a security audit done to find the source of the problem.
In reply to: How to Modify Content Before Saving if to DB~5th line down you have
exit();. That will stop execution of the function at that point. In reply to: What’s wrong with my plugin?Unfortunately “bad” bad reviews happen regularly and this is a good example. By “bad” I mean a reviewer doesn’t provide any details of the problem they’ve faced and doesn’t reply to the plugin author’s response.
EDIT: I just noticed the review was posted just 19 hours ago so hopefully the reviewer will still respond to your comments.
In reply to: Template look and feel issuesTake a look at the BuddyPress Template Hierarchy article. If your theme uses BuddyPress templates then you’ll be able to override them.
In reply to: documentation for remove_action activity streamsThat’s a good idea. If you do a search for
bp_activity_add()you will see everything that creates an activity item. Some plugins use the activity stream so be sure to search any of those you may have installed as well.In reply to: Get Post ID from NotificationAh OK. For message notifications, you should find the message thread ID in
item_idIn reply to: Making display name uniqueIf you take a look at the WordPress code base, you’ll see there is similar logic applied to username. The gist will be
1. Query the database for a list of display names
2. Throw an error if the desired name already existsIn reply to: Discussion Forums (bbpress) no longer an option?bbPress is a separate plugin. You’d need to install that as well as BuddyPress.
