In reply to: Problem with Registering a new user
Just a thought, under Settings > General > where it says ‘Membership’ make sure ‘Anyone can register’ is checked.
In reply to: Problem with Registering a new userThere seems to be something interfering with the BP registration process so the task is to find out what. This unfortunately can be quite tedious but to my knowledge it’s the only way of locating the problem.
1) Can you try using a theme such as Twenty Thirteen then test the registration process again?
2) If the theme-change didn’t work, can you try deactivating your plugins one at a time. Each time you deactivate one, test the registration again to see if that particular plugin was causing the issue.
In reply to: Problem with Registering a new userHi @jonty800
Can you list all of the plugins you’re using and also which theme?
In reply to: Buddypress and mqtranslateHi @heatherkirk
I’ve never used mqtranslate but there may be an alternative way to customise those strings. Check out the Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs article which shows you how to set up a language file. Hopefully that’ll help?
In reply to: Strange behavior when searching a member! 🙁The theme is a premium theme so unfortunately I can’t see the markup. Perhaps try contacting their support team showing them the screenshot you’ve linked-to above. They should be able to help.
In reply to: Strange behavior when searching a member! 🙁Hi @sergioral
This is likely caused by malformed markup in your theme. Which theme are you using?
In reply to: Hide the MEMBERS, GROUPS, ACTIVITY pagesHi @dhyana
Put this in your theme’s functions.php file:
function my_redirect_pages() { if ( ! is_user_logged_in() && ( is_page( 'members' ) || is_page( 'groups' ) || is_page( 'activity' ) ) ) { wp_redirect( home_url() ); exit(); } } add_action( 'template_redirect', 'my_redirect_pages' );This will block these pages for users not logged in. If you wanted to go one step further and limit access by membership then you’d need to modify the condition in the
my_redirect_pagesfunction slightly. In reply to: Rename "Messages" nav to "Mails"Hi @sundev
Check out the Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs article. To customise the label I think you’ll need to use a language file.
If you also want to change the slug in the URL, try adding this to your bp-custom.php file
define( 'BP_MESSAGES_SLUG', 'mails' );In reply to: buddypress dashboard styleThis will be a fairly big task, bigger than what can be explained in a forum post. But there is a great article available. Check out Creating Admin Themes
That’s a premium theme so unfortunately I can’t see the widget’s code when I visit that site. Perhaps try asking their support team how you could achieve what you need?
@marriagebroker login details aren’t necessary. I just need to locate the source code of the widgets to see what hooks are available. Are they default widgets in BuddyPress (I don’t currently have BuddyPress installed so cannot check that myself)? Or are they part of a plugin etc?
Can you link to these widgets? You’d basically filter their output but I’d need to see how they’re coded before I can help in detail.
In reply to: Custom redirect when access is restricted?Hi @eqerhe,
Check out the Theme My Login plugin. Once installed, if you enable the ‘redirection module’ it’ll do exactly what you need.
In reply to: Hide time-since with CSS@grafcom I’m not sure why your code isn’t working. Firebug is telling you the selector is
time-sinceand you’re doing this in your CSS file:span.time-since { display: none !important; }There must be something else going on. Do you have any more style sheets loading which may take precedence over your theme’s style.css? Are any inline styles being added?
In reply to: No Registration and Activation PageRegarding point 2, take a look at this answer on Stack Overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/a/24763715/1709033
It tries to explain how the BuddyPress template hierarchy works… 🙂
In reply to: No Activation eMailA couple of things to try:
- Check your spam email folder
- Check with your hosting company that their mail server is set up and working
In reply to: No Registration and Activation PageHi again @pietro_sferrino,
1 – HOW TO ADD A FRONT-END LOGIN FORM. I do NOT want people see the wp-default form for login. I want to show it in a front-end page. Actually, is not a matter of what I want … that is ho it HAS to workTheme My Login is the plugin to handle that for you. Give it a try here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/theme-my-login/
Point 2 is a little more complicated, yes it can certainly be done but it will require you to create a template. For information on the BuddyPress template hierarchy, see here: https://codex.buddypress.org/themes/theme-compatibility-1-7/template-hierarchy/
In reply to: Hide time-since with CSSAre you sure
span.time-sinceis the right selector? In reply to: No Registration and Activation PageBuddyPress should automatically create registration and activation pages for you. You can check by going to your website. For example
example.com/registrationorexample.com/activate.To create a WordPress navigation menu and add the activation and registration pages to it, see the WordPress Menu User Guide.
In reply to: No Registration and Activation PageHi @pietro_sferrino,
What’s a MenuVoice?
In reply to: NSFW: Please review my theme | BBFacelookI quite like this design. It manages to fit lots of information on the page without looking cluttered. The colour scheme you’ve used is quite subtle making for easy reading. I’ve noticed you’ve opted for a fluid layout. One slight issue with that is when you’re viewing on devices such as mobiles. Perhaps a responsive layout would work better?
In reply to: Making Custom Fields ResponsiveHi @titoesco
You’ll need to provide some code examples because the from the info you’ve given it’ll be hard to recommend a solution.
@colin101 hehe! Glad you got it working in the end.
In reply to: [Resolved] Buddypress Breaks WordPress SearchI just read your blog post. It’s interesting you couldn’t get
define( 'BP_SEARCH_SLUG', 'searchresults' );to work outside of wp-config.php. Have you tried creating a bp-custom.php file and popping the constant definition in there?Try this instead:
<?php echo bp_core_get_username( bp_get_activity_comment_user_id() ); ?>That should work. The problem was my use of
bp_displayed_user_id().
