You should have also tested things by activating a theme such as twentytwelve, known to work ok with BP to see if that resolves issue, have you tried that?

it works fine, you save/update just as though you were saving a post. on refresh it shows the member added and navigating to frontend shows user added to group.

Please do ensure you are testing in a clean environment though.

Please do not advise the editing of core files this is poor practise and never recommended.

You describe the default args there, the correct means of changing those is when using bp_core_fetch_avatar() to pass it an array of values.

In templates adjust the various avatar calls using similar principle

Yep this is an issue we’re aware of I did a little work on username reg process in core but this aspect is tricky and needed to be re-visited separately:

So that tells you it’s a theme issue I’m afraid, you’ll need to contact the authors, sounds like they are not doing something correctly with the wp_title() function, BP as can be seen is applying title strings correctly.

check the core theme files sidebar.php the message function should be hardcoded there, is for me and is running and I test on trunk.

No you don’t cache DB stuff you do cache static objects, caching dynamic data will cause issues and BP draws heavily on DB tables.

tbh caching plugins with WP seem to be more hassle than they are worth, cause of loads of issues. Always considered caching a server aspect really and/or offloading static stuff to CDN.

‘register_theme_packages’ is probably the approach, but has to be looked into as will need some work doing to it, probably filters for bp_get_theme_package_id() and a lot of testing before it’s a viable there’s a fair bit of hardcoding going on that needs to be filterable?. Have you had a look through the codex? There are guides to working with child themes and theme compatibility. If they don’t help post back to thread.

@andresdez before doing anything else, including activating or re-activating BP, could you switch to the twentytwelve theme then attempt to activate BP and tell us what happens.

Why are you ‘bumping’ ? it’s been 5 months since the last post, would you like to briefly respond to that last one rather than simply ‘bump’!

And have you tried just registering with WP, BP deactivated? You must establish WP install works before ever activating something like BP, This sounds like your server not sending emails.
