You have added a new image as a background one, but without any ‘repeat’ value thus it’s defaulting to ‘repeat’ you need to specify no-repeat, from where you set that background. The header expands in height as the elements in it are squeezed in narrow widths and show the repeated background that has been hidden.

‘favourits’ is really for bits of content, you might be better off with the Follow plugin, that would allow you to ‘Follow’ members as opposed to the friendship function which requires two way acceptance, in this way you essentially have a list of people that you have tagged, or listed as wanting to keep in a list.

There is a template hierarchy that allows for overloading of files to a child theme for safely editing. You need to check through the Codex Documentation please, read up on the process of creating child themes, on the theme compatibility layer and it’s templates and how to modify.

Yes it is what you’re meant to do, from what you describe you do not have these pages, so create new ones, blank just a title as you wish it then go back to the BP settings and select that page.

If you lurk first and read as many threads as possible and also the sticky how to get help post then likely you would have seen us state this over and over again, changing a theme is one of the first things to try along with disabling any plugins that might be an issue. 🙂

doubt very much you will have 10,000 concurrent connections, it’s a huge amount and would require knowing how to fine tune idle servers maxservers, maxrequests per server etc.

If you really are expecting anything like that number you would be better off hiring a server engineer to scope out a server build and then spend a little time fine tuning…[Read more]

@megainfo Actually you’re quite correct… well almost, there are filters and they were committed but think the commit was rolled back as I found a few issues and the updates didn’t make it into 1.8.1 but check your trunk files you’ll see them there.

It and the others now have filters so you can filter in to the function bp-groups-template.php approx line: 2496.

Please don’t advise people not to upgrade, this is bad advise, BP releases often have bug fixes and security updates people should endeavour to keep on the most current release. That section – as noted on the page (‘legacy’ ) – is really a historical list from a time when plugins tagged BP would have a group generated here, it’s retained but not used any longer.
