@hnla, I think the problem is the things after “endif”.
I added if bp_displayed_user_id() == 1 , display this, endif, so, after displayed user 1 stuffs, other things after the endif still carry out.
I want to remove things after the endif when userid is 1.

The plugin does not resolve the issue. It was my bad, as @hnla mentioned BP has checks to prevent duplicate usernames. The thing is, if the issue was brought about by what I mentioned above , then members should be taught to use @mentions with usernames instead of first names. True @hnla, there shouldn’t be a duplicate username in the first place.
It could be that a member named “Frank Furter” whose username may be something else like frankfurter messaged Anne who mistakenly replied to @frank instead of @frankfurter 🙂

  apologies, didn’t see this, so direct mentions not always quicker, forums should gain wider audience.
  what you have looks right can you var_dump that id, is it returning a value?, is $bp being called as a global if in a function? hard to say further without having the actual plugin.
