😆
Oh ok so I need now to add

@christinerule you need to have a little patience your original post was only 8 hours old for many of us that was around midnight for others late evening you do need to allow a bit more time before expecting a reply.
One post – avoid multiple duplicate posts on the same forum – generally these get locked or simply removed.
Duplicate posts have the action of tying up forum members answering and possibly duplicating effort where an answer has already been given on the other thread – resources i.e member respondents are a valuable commodity with many requiring access to them.
In reply to: Login widget like in this website? As nit3watch says it’s just the default sidebar login code, not sure why this is an issue, other than I guess you are all using custom themes arrived at via template-pack plugin or some other means.
If you are using custom themes I suppose that you have to bear in mind that there will always be a certain amount of manual configuration to get things the way one wants or to replicate certain BP features?
In reply to: Blog Theme / Buddypress ThemePoint of general forum nettiquette: It is a frowned upon practice to ‘Hijack’ another’s post, this is due to the confusion it can introduce to the thread where you have multiple replies to different questions asked.
Please always start a fresh topic with your question unless you are responding in some fashion to the OP’s question.
In reply to: Clear message to all usersGo back to your account and have a careful study of the site wide notifications screen.
@ri-kun please avoid doing this in future, sometimes questions don’t get answered, sometimes that means you have to think about them again, perhaps they had obvious answers, perhaps a search would find the answer, sometimes reposting and rephrasing the question is required, what isn’t acceptable is to demand attention in the fashion that you have and is likely going to result in your thread being locked leaving you to have to repost, but you will have done your rep little favour in the process

Oh and fyi – emoticons or smilies please ‘lolz’ is derived from l33t or txt speak and most coders/developers dislike that language also ‘lolz’ carries a particular meaning it’s meant to be laughter with sarcastic overtones! not. I hope, what you intended?
Your User/Group permissions are probably wrong or PHP SafeMode is on. Contact your host and pose the question to them. the server needs to be able to write to files directories.
As for file permissions don’t leave them at 777 it’s dangerous and not necessary 755 should be more than sufficient
@adam320
It’s great you have written a plugin to help combat this vile practise of spamming, and the community thanks you for that. However dragging up four old posts and posting to each the same reference to your plugin would generally be considred to be… Can you fill the blanks in?

You have the group created, shout about the plugin there. Resurrecting old posts is somewhat annoying for the listings.
Under Super Admin -> Options there’s a box labeled ‘Limited Email Domains’ which allows you to specify domains that are allowed to register. This is a MU / MS option only though and isn’t available if running WP as single blog.
In reply to: How can I keep up to date with forum replies? You could go to ‘Activity’ and mark something as ‘Favourite’ as a means of grouping you favourite threads/comments etc in one list.
Other than that I would wait on the changes that will be effected for the site soon that should address many of it’s shortcomings.
In reply to: wpmudev plugins just don’t seem to work?Of course I’m not really saying one isn’t to ask a question about why something isn’t working if one can be specific about a particular issue, but support can’t really be provided in general for premium paid for plugins. It sounds as though the ones you have have not been updated and you will need to ask that question of wpmudevguru doo dah whatsit people
In reply to: wpmudev plugins just don’t seem to work?Yes go to their support forum and ask for the support you are entitled to after all that is what they charge for isn’t it? As for anyone here fixing or helping to fix/dealing with issues with premium plugins it shouldn’t happen.
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarI have a question posed elsewhere on the issue but like the WP one I posted I don’t really hold out hope of a solution or even just hints, it looks as though this aspect wasn’t really considered and perhaps it’s not really something that would be required as the menu name isn’t something that needs to be accessed other than in the backend so the means for me to test a region and find out what menu has been assigned to it isn’t provided for even though the menu region at some point has to know what menu it is being asked to display so what I need is available somewhere, but that is why I need someone familiar with the new menu API to tell where and how to cross check data then I can write a function to check each menu region and return it’s associated menu name.
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarAccessing the menu names is sadly as difficult as I had first thought, I have two arrays that respectively hold the menu regions and menu object parts but finding a method to check one against the other is proving allusive. What I have established is that the menu name attached to a particular menu region does not belong to the nav-menu.php functions but more to the theme functions and makes things problematic, as a new method needs to be written to check a menu region for an explicit but unknown menu name and that isn’t proving simple to theorise let alone start writing.
At this moment it is something that will have to, sadly, go on the back burner as the cost in time so far outweighs the end result, I’ll revisit as and when I get any inspiration on an approach to try but it may require someone far more familiar in the WordPress API than I am.
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarEnjoy the rides
I’ll try and catch up later on tomorrow.@strackus you need an .htaccess file. What happens when you change permalink settings? change them to another setting and report any messages seen on the screen about creating/writing to the file. You shouldn’t have to create the file but your server must be able to write and read to this file. What server are you running on? not IIS by any chance?
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarAre tables and data created/saved in the DB? if they are then you should simply have to query the DB in bp-wp-navbar to fetch the field values and use those in place of the current variable strings.
I haven’t time to look too deeply now but will try and run it tomorrow and have a look at the wp-nav menu namesPeople The community , must as a whole, stop this practice of hijacking threads we now have three questions running in the same thread this practice isn’t tolerated on most tech forumsd due to the confusion that thread dissolves into.
The first thing all three of you must check is that your permalinks are working correctly and that the server can write to the .htaccess file
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarAh not that knowledgeable, sadly
In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP AdminbarOk well done, they look promising; wp_get_nav_menus() was one of the functions that is referenced in the codex but has no page written for it and which I had been playing around with the functions above I’m not sure about but can break them down and the links look like useful reading
I’ll have another look when I have a minute, but it’s one of those straightforward requirements that can end up being a tad more difficult than one had imagined
In reply to: How to make a private community? That sounds like you actually need a custom front page, but what do mean by ‘click it’ that’s a rather loose term click what?
Why does that page not simply have the text/content you want with a simple link to the registration page and also a simple login, registered users will login and be directed to their profile page by the plugin mentioned earlier. What you do with the main site home link is another question, suppose it’s possible to have that custom frontpage display your intro page to all logged out users and once logged in if a member navigates back to that page it will display ? activity loop / main site blog posts
? BP 1.2.4 you need to install 1.2.5.2
If you have really installed 1.2.4 try upgrading it to 1.2.5 and see if that makes a difference and report back.
In reply to: How to make a private community?Jenny that plugin you found ‘redirects’ is this a BP plugin? if not then use the one I linked to which is custom coded to work for BP (can’t vouch whether it’s currently compatible with latest releases)
At the end of the day I think you are looking for one plugin to cover two different jobs which may prove problematical.
Possibly you need to use your ‘redirects’ if that works satisfactorily with BP AND the other plugin to provide the actual logged in redirect to profile pages. In reply to: New plugin: Add All Nav Links to BP Adminbar@pcwriter oops sorry missed this post.
That’s exactly what I was talking about and exactly what I had intended to implement but it probably got overlooked in the original thread, I spent a considerable amount of time reading through all the nav-menu files trying to see how these user added menu labels were referenced but couldn’t puzzle it out. I posted a topic on the WP support forums waited and waited re posted re phrasing the question but it was clearly too much for WP support to deal with

I’m not happy with hardcoding the labels for custom menus it was never the real intention, I can try your code snippet but think I established that the menu name or slug isn’t available in that array, it’s more an admin dashboard object but I may be wrong. Just wish there was some serious documentation on the WP codex, at the moment two seemingly important functions are simply lacking any documentation
In reply to: How to make a private community?Travel_junkies code redirects logged out users to the main sign up page which is what I thought you were asking for, it can easily be configured to allow main directory pages to be viewed, but nothing deeper, or I guess to redirect to another page of choice, it’s not a plugin per se it’s the core function and would run from a file such as bp-custom.php it could be turned into a plugin quite easily though as a plugin at basic level is simply a convenient on/off switch. If ‘Redirects’ works for then that’s fine, iot’s not one I’ve run across before.
In reply to: How to make a private community?Jenny a search of the forum turns up this thread, (always worth a quick search to see what’s been covered )
Give the plugin listed in the last post a go and see if it works for you, and just acknowledge back whether it worked for you
