    Did you copy the folders from “/wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/” to “/wp-content/bp-themes/”? If so and you’re still seeing the error, you should either upgrade to BuddyPress 1.0.3 (just came out) or COPY (not move) the bp-themes folders into “/wp-content/themes/” – There’s a bug in BP1.0.2/WPMU2.8.1

    Ditto here.

    I flushed my buddypress.org cookies and dumped my cache too.

    Or.

    COPY (not move) your bp theme into the normal themes folder. Now it’ll show up in the dropdown. Once there, select it, save, and voila.

    Afterwards you can delete the copy.

    (or you can do it with symlinks if you know how)

    Report it in http://trac.buddypress.org if you haven’t already.

    To clarify, this is something we’re going to be using for paying clients, not the public at large, so that should take some of the issues raised above out of the equation.

    If anything, that alone would make me want to stay away from OpenID.

    Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s great for newspaper sites etc where someone can log in to comment. But if I’m paying you money, I want YOU to be responsible for any data I send you, and only you.

    Also, this is going to enable us to take away the 4 separate passwords / logins our paying customers need to use currently down to 2 for things like the forums, their website, billing, support, etc…. that is the main reason we’re implementing this…. otherwise we wouldn’t waste our time building something unless it was totally necessary….

    Sensible and laudable. How come you can’t have one for all four and self-host it? (Honestly curious here!)

    Also, if I’m logged into facebook on my computer, and close facebook

    You tech genius wouldn’t do that, right? :)

    I do this all the time. 99.99999% of the time, no one but me uses my computer. Once in a while, a guest comes over and looks something up, but it’s rare. But yeah, this is something most of us do. I never log out of sites when I’m using my computer, logged in as my user name. :)

    I don’t see how Buddypress is using this field. When I change it to a different url in the backend, Buddypress member links still take me to their profile. Or, is it used in some other way?

    If you click on your name here in the forums, you get taken to your BuddyPress profile page, instead of your personal website. That feature is by design and that’s what I mean when I say BuddyPress sets your account’s website as your BuddyPress profile.

    That’s not the same as my ‘home’, but I suppose you could muck about with the BuddyPress files to change the default website to be something else. I’m not sure how that would work, as all it would do would be to take you to my blog when you click on my name, vs my profile. Is that what you want?

    Using Comment Form Quicktags (which puts it for the blog), I was able to tweak a little and get it to work by manually editing files.

    For the Wire, I edited my theme’s membertheme/wire/post-forum.php from

    <textarea name="wire-post-textarea" id="wire-post-textarea"></textarea>

    to

    <script type="text/javascript">edToolbar();</script>
    <textarea name="wire-post-textarea" id="wire-post-textarea"></textarea>
    <script type="text/javascript">var edCanvas = document.getElementById('wire-post-textarea');</script>

    In theory the plugin should be hackable, but adding this:

    add_action('wire-post-textarea', array(&$this, 'detect_end'));

    to

    /**
    * Start to detect <textarea>.
    */
    function detect_start($file) {
    ob_start(array(&$this, 'add_tags'));
    $this->ended = false;
    add_action('comment_form', array(&$this, 'detect_end'));
    add_action('wp_footer', array(&$this, 'detect_end'));

    return $file;
    }

    didn’t work so I’ll have to keep poking around.

    For the forums, it’s Comment Quicktags

    For the blog, there are a lot more options.

    There isn’t one, yet, that works with all components (groups, wire, etc).

    Make another profile entry for URL. BuddyPress is acting as it should and taking over that field for profile fun :)

    I’m assuming you’re using a bbCode plugin of sorts? Which one? Are you using one on the forums as well?

    Short answer: theme error is complicated. I’m writing up a Trac ticket and will put the link here later.

    Workaround: duplicate your /bp-member/* folders into /wp-content/themes/. This will populate the correct info in the drop-down box. Once this issue is fixed, you can remove the duplicates from /wp-content/themes/.

    FYI, you can also trick this with a link.

    from /wp-content/themes:

    $ ln -s ../bp-themes/THEMENAME THEMENAME

    Worked great :) When you’re done, delete the link.

    It could be because the ‘root’ of forums. is different than the root of wpmu.

    If the wpmu stuff is looking for root or relative drive mappings, then when you have the forums calling it from a folder outside the relativity of the wpmu install, it can’t find the files.

    That’s a WAG without enough coffee in my system. I wonder if a symlink would trick it…

    @John James Jacoby – Yes, but we’re illiterate!

    __constuct() is not the same as __construct()

    Fixed that and it’s fine :)

    Interestingly… Now the forums give me this:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined method BP_Roles::__constuct() in /home/public_html/community/wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php on line 317

    ONLY if I’m logged in, though. If I’m logged out, it’s fine.

    I think you can put it in regular plugins (I’m honestly not sure the semantics between regular and mu-plugins, and which is sitewide and which is per blog…)

    I wrote Ban Hammer to do that and it seems to work on regular WP. Haven’t fully tested it on MU, but it should work.

    With the new 2.8.1 and BuddyBar, I get this on my bar:

    Fatal error: Call to undefined method BP_Roles::_init() in /home/public_html/community/wp-includes/wpmu-functions.php on line 317

    I did apply this patch but no help in mudville. In fact, if I make THAT change, I get the error sitewide.

    AHA! That worked perfectly!

    Thank you! If I can sort out how to make this easy to update without killing someone else’s custom icon, I will.

    Added this to my style’s css and it works:

    /* Fixing Admin Buddy Bar */
    #wp-admin-bar img#admin-bar-logo {
    padding-top: 13px;
    position: absolute !important;
    top: 8px;
    left: 10px;
    }

    That 13px feels so weirdly random to me. Ah well. My pm to JJJ was #666, my fix for CSS was #13… There’s a theme going on here! :D

    Props to r-a-y and John James Jacoby (the latter of whom put up with my self-inflicted stupidity that made me … whinge)

    My layout is pretty much what I want, and everything appears to be working, so it’s time to look at the non-essential, but gosh that’s weird problem.

    If you go to my forums, the ‘BuddyPress’ link on the top left is vertically weirded. Which is the only way I can describe it. Should I just beat it into submission with css, and assume it’s a css conflict of names?

    Don’t forget to update backpress too! read Sam’s post two down from _ck_’s for that :)
