The function bp_example_register_widgets occurs twice in the skeleton component. That is what is causing the issue. It is found in both bp-example-templatetags.php and bp-example-widgets.php.
For now, you can comment out the version of that function found in bp-example-templatetags.php.
In reply to: Comment e-mailThis is really a WPMU question. You should find many threads that answer that question on the Mu forums.
In reply to: BP showcase – Lead us to waterMost of the sites that you mention required many weeks to months of hard design and custom coding work. You need the proper design, CSS, and PHP skills to tackle this on your own. Or, you need to hire out an expert WordPress/BuddyPress developer like GigaOM Pro did–or even a team of developers.
In reply to: Several issuesis it possible to replace the crappy cropping tool of 1.0.3 without upgrading to 1.1
Anything is possible if you have the coding skills. But, your best option is to upgrade to BP 1.1.1.
What is the issue you are having with upgrading? Just theme issues? Or, as you stated above, are you concerned about losing the core file modifications that you’ve made?
You should never–did I say never yet–modify any core files. Instead, make your custom mods in your own plugin file or in bp-custom.php file.

In reply to: problem displaying single item@kapil-
You need to list a valid screen function in the ‘screen_function’ element. Setting it to false is probably what is triggering the error.
In reply to: How do I send an email to all members?@chewbaker-
This is a four-month-old thread that has been marked as resolved. Starting a new issue within it will get you little help.
When providing assistance, most people ignore threads marked as resolved, choosing to spend their time within threads that still have an issue to address.
Please read this for tips on how to maximize your issue resolution: https://buddypress.org/forums/topic/have-a-new-issue-then-start-a-new-thread
In reply to: feedwordpress and php warningWhat happens when you disable FeedWordPress?
If the errors go away, then there is an incompatibility issue with that plugin and the current version of BP and/or version 2.8.4 of WPMU. Contact the plugin developer, provide them with the details about your issue, and ask when the plugin will support BP 1.1.1 and WPMU 2.8.4.
Looking at the listing for FeedWordPress ( https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/feedwordpress/ ), it does not mention that it is even compatible at all with BP. It also indicates that it is only compatible up to version 2.8.1 of WP.

If it is the same behavior, then please answer these questions to allow us to help you better.
In reply to: Featured Member(s) Widget for 1.1.1?I assume you are talking about my widget, the one that you can download from here:
If so, then as it clearly states on that page, it is not yet compatible with BP 1.1.1. It is not yet updated to use the new widget API that the 2.8 series of WordPress introduced.
I do plan on updating it, once I finish my alpha version of the BuddyPress Privacy Component. I’m almost done with that project. I’ve been away from coding for about a week so it should not be too much longer.
Once that is delivered to Andy for his inspection, I’ll update my Featured Member’s widget.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy Component: An UpdatePrivacy is all about authorizing, not authenticating. Verifying and managing access rights–which the privacy component does–is an entirely different issue than verifying a user’s identity. Verifying someone’s identity is a very tricky aspect of authentication.
Therefore, this would not be something to fall under the privacy component.
Reread my first post in this thread (see the “== Description =
” section) to see what I wrote about authorizing versus authenticating.
In reply to: New User SignupI’m confused. They are sent an email to join when they fill out the registration form? If they are actually filling out the registration / sign-up form, then they should be sent a welcome message with their new account details.
In reply to: Sign up page problem with 1.1I’m setting this to resolved as the OP says the issue is just that!
In reply to: Can't find forum install function in 1.1Make sure the “bbPress Forums” is enabled in “BuddyPress > Component Setup”. Also, make sure that you have bbPress 1.0.2 installed in /buddypress/bp-forums/bbpress/
In reply to: WPMU Signup has a bad link.Try upgrading to the just-released BP v1.1.1. It fixed an issue were themes designed for BuddyPress 1.0 would cause a signup page failure when using v1.1.
In reply to: admin bar links re-direct to homepageTwo posts above, you state that you were attempting a clean install but then immediately in the next post say that you, “might try deleting all my mu-plugins and plugins.”
If you had any plugins installed anywhere, then you are not doing a clean install. For some, such as myself, I only consider a clean install starting from scratch–a totally wiped domain (no files), new DB table, new WPMU install, and then new BuddyPress install.
Since in your first post in this thread you indicated that you did not upgraded from a previous version of WPMU, then I’m assuming you have no data worth saving. If that is the case, then I suggest starting from scratch and doing a real, clean install. This means deleting all your files and deleting the MySQL DB. Once you have WPMU running again, thoroughly check it out before installing anything else. Once you think it is ready to go, then install BuddyPress and only BuddyPress. Make sure that it is work fine with the default BP themes before doing anything else.
Once you have BuddyPress working properly, you can then start adding new plugins. But only do so one at a time, fully checking to see if issues arise from activating each new plugin before adding an additional one.
In reply to: bp-dev.org vs. buddypress.org – why have twoNo, it is not redundant? It is just an unrelated site. It is Nicola’s personal site. The content is different. You are free to sign up at bp-dev.org if you need to ask support questions about any of the plugins hosted there.
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.1.1You get used to it after awhile. It’s more of a slight nuisance than anything else. I just wanted to make sure that people don’t think that they will have the same issue when they’re using BuddyPress.
I’m sure it will be difficult to track down. Since this site is using multiple servers, it could be caused by anyone of the machines, perhaps even an issue with HyperDB–although I have not seen any reports on that.
In reply to: What is the blog area?Blog = the main BuddyPress Admin site blog
Blogs = links / a listing of all your users’ blogs (include the admin blog)
So, if you decide not to offer blogs to your users, you can still use the main site blog (admin blog) to disperse information–just as is done here on BuddyPress.org
If you want to name the “Blog” slug something different, see this article:
https://buddypress.org/blog/how-to/customizable-slugs-in-buddypress/
That is even better!
Just a quick reminder, if you go forward with this idea and create a separate BP-designers’ website, that you need to follow the BuddyPress domain policy.
In reply to: 500 Internal Server after upgrade to 1.1.1That is a server error. There is something wrong with your server or perhaps how hosting is set up on your server.
Check the server’s error logs for more details.
Who is your host?
In reply to: BuddyPress 1.1.1The blank page when posting or clicking a link is a known issue with the servers that run BuddyPress.org. It has nothing to do with the BuddyPress code.
Refreshing your browser (sometimes multiple times is required) solves the issue.
In reply to: Trouble Upgrading?@Colorful tones
You seem to be having a few issues getting BP installed and working properly. Please start a new thread so we can better help you. When doing so, answer these questions in the first post of that new thread.
With regards to this issue:
Has anybody else noticed that this site Buddypress.org is not working too? When I log in and go to any of the links in the top admin bar they all re-direct me to the front page.
Although you do not technically have a space in your username, you have a dash, this thread may provide some insight. Did you sign up using a space between “Colorful” and “tones”?
In reply to: bp-dev.org vs. buddypress.org – why have twoThere is only one official site for BuddyPress discussion and that is this site.
bp-dev.org is a private site run by one of our moderators–Nicola Greco. He started it after he personally created several, early plugins for BuddyPress. I believe it served as an early plugin repository before BuddyPress plugins were hosted on WordPress.org.
