Could also be PHP version or some kind of out of memory error or time out.
You’re going to want to use php 5 too, so maybe your host switched something?
In reply to: pb with buddypress barSounds to me like the stylesheet for your BuddyBar isn’t getting included or is missing.
The BuddyBar naturally appears at the bottom of the source. It is the stylesheet that styles it to appear at the top.
In reply to: Add admin bar to BBPressCurrently only using what is called “deep integration” which is documented pretty extensively over on the bbpress.org forums. (Beware, they will advise against this.)
Nicola Greco from bp-dev.org is working on a way to do this using XMLRPC, but I haven’t seen that code yet.
In reply to: referer to the home-theme<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php echo bloginfo('template_url') . '/css/yourfile.css' ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" />In reply to: Do You Have to Use WPMU?For now you must use WPMU 2.7.1. Down the road BuddyPress will work on single WordPress.org installs but not currently and not for 1.0 release.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailTrac is intimidating to most people, including me somedays. I don’t think it’s not knowing they have the ability, I think it’s just not knowing how to use the trac system.
My one and only suggestion for this, is that you may want to reference the trusted download sites and zip files versus your own.
While your contribution is obviously very much super duper appreciated, some people are weary of downloading files from untrusted sources, which limits your audience even though you’re trying to be helpful.
Otherwise, it seems to be as straight forward as it can be, so good job.
In reply to: buddypress.org error – send mailAndy’s got a few bug fixes he’s working on at the moment. Keep reporting them as you come across them but also know that he’s on top of them. BP.org was actually down completely yesterday for about 20 minutes, so we’re lucky he brought it back up in its current form.
Thank them for us. Case closed.
In reply to: Google Maps for GroupsAre you familiar with the way WordPress hooks into functions with filters and actions?
In reply to: incorrect date/hour at Site Wide ActivityCan you post up a link? I’ll register at your site and see what time it gives me?
No cache control page yet for activity streams, but one could certainly be created.
Change your name, post a thing, change it back. I get what you’re saying, but this type of “abuse” is unavoidable.
In reply to: Where do I add new blog themes for members?Bpfan,
You can install the same old standard WordPress theme if you’d like, but keep in mind that it won\’t have any functions that tap into BuddyPress at all. Yes they will work, exactly like they did before.
You upload and install them in the same place you’re used to,
wp-content/themes/Then they must be activated in the Site Admin->Themes area.
(Hope you don’t mind, I renamed your topic title so it doesn’t confuse “Member Themes” with “Themes for Members” haha!)
In reply to: Changing the word blogTo change the SLUG of the URL itself, you’d probably want to use:
<?php
define('BP_BLOGS_SLUG', 'diary');
?>Then you would want to edit the header.php file and change the word in your navigation.
Check Customizing Labels, Messages, and URLs in the codex for a complete description.
In reply to: 404 /blog /members etc… RC2 WPMU 2.7.1Did you delete your .htaccess file on accident?
In reply to: custom slug via bp-custom makes menu icons disappearTend to agree with Burt on this one. Not really sure there’s a way around this.

In reply to: RC2 Upgrade issuesCheck the new sticky regarding the theme preview.
I’m going to integrate bbPress on my test install and give it a go myself this evening.
In reply to: BuddyPress Skeleton Component v1.2 RC-2Jeff, I’m routing all of the discussion from your first topic here going forward. Happy supporting!
We’ve got a lot of announcements and topics about this. I’m going to close this one and refer everyone to the new topic for further discussion.
In reply to: incorrect date/hour at Site Wide ActivityYou’re not posting this from the future are you?
Verify your system time. Verify your web hosts time. I’m going to install a fresh RC2 and verify that it’s working correctly.
We’ll meet back here.
In reply to: My Account Links not showingSo the BuddyBar appears at the top of the screen, and shows all items when you’re viewing the admin area, but only “Log Out” when you’re viewing the site itself?
In reply to: Does upgrade/RC-2 impact databases?BuddyPress RC2 will consolidate your activity streams and merge the tables. It will also go through and add any additional settings that are missing and set them as default if for some reason they do not already exist.
As long as you have not hacked the core of your install, upgrading from RC1 to RC2 should not harm any of your existing data.
There is a built in maintenance mode when using the automatic update feature of WordPress, but for something manual (such as RC1 to RC2), I might recommend something like…
In reply to: Upgrading from RC-1 to RC-2 or 1.0 ReleaseFor those of you tuning into us via SVN:
BuddyPress RC2 = BuddyPress Revision 1406
Anything +1406 can be referred to as “trunk” again.
Check these topics for some important reading on upgrading your existing BuddyPress installs.
BuddyPress Directory Changes and New File Locations
Reminder to move your old install, and what error you’ll receive if you don’t
Your best bet might be to update to WPMU 2.7.1 and RC2/trunk. The upgrade from RC1 to RC2+ will automatically eliminate those tables and trim away some of that access.
In reply to: Defualt member theme not workingMake sure you have a .htaccess file in the root of your install.
Make sure which ever theme you’re using as your home theme has the functions.php from the buddypress-home theme. It’s responsible for doing some funky routing of some pages.
I’m going to check the trunk out now on a fresh install and see if I can duplicate anything.
