In reply to: How to disable BP sign up and use WP default signup?
Is there an exact reason why you want to use WordPress signup rather than the BuddyPress one? BuddyPress sign up is a bit more apt for a BuddyPress site so trying to understand the use case here.
In reply to: Question Mark after Username!?!I’d say it’s usually not linking to the javascript files when things stop working. Another area would be not updating to BuddyPress 1.5 your theme files but using BuddyPress 1.5. Have you updated those both?
In reply to: Google Analytics for BuddypressTo be honest just put in the theme files probably is the lightest / speediest solution. Google lets you know where in the code to place things – put that in the footer.php before the closing tags it says.
But, if you are using the default theme for BuddyPress you probably either want to do a child or you want to use a plugin.
I’ve not tried it but perhaps: https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/google-analytics-for-wordpress/ works – after all if it’s just inserting into the theme files….
In reply to: Registration not workingHave you tried resetting your permlinks? I’m just thinking something may have got stuck there and somehow that is impacting .. stab in dark but worth a shot.
In reply to: I put a child theme buddypress and got errors.Just so we can be on the same page.. are you using a child theme you created or are you using an already created one? Is it a child theme of the default theme?
Have you made sure in the style.css of the child there is the following:
Template: bp-default
This assumes that the child is the default theme, if not that bp-default should be the name of the parent theme.
Is this happening without any plugins aside from BuddyPress? Assuming (which I think it is) the theme is updated to BuddyPress 1.5 and assuming you mean it is at the bottom vertical – is that right? A link really would help clarify where it is vertical though. It sounds to me like a scripting or CSS issue, again if you could provide a link that would help narrow the field.
In reply to: Notifications delay PLEASE HELP!Do you mean the notifications on this forum or the notifications on your site?
Do you have a link to the page you are trying to style?
Are you using a theme updated to 1.5? I ask this as I’m thinking something is up with the scripting you’re linking to and this could be the issue.
A good basic test would be to see if you get the same issue using the default theme – that would tell us theme or plugin. Alternatively if you’ve not updated theme files that could be it.
In reply to: need help really urgenthttp://themekraft.com/theme/custom-community/ would be your starting point
Looks like you’ve got a missing closing div on this element: content-main
Is it possible to post a link to your site as it’s easier to look at what you see that way
I’ll happily take a look but would need to see a link of your site.In reply to: Can’t Post to “what’s new” in ActivityThat theme @fertilityblogs linked does have that which is why I’m asking if they are using an older version of the theme. In the last theme updates global.js has changes so not having latest would cause issues.
In reply to: need help really urgentAre you using BuddyPress 1.5 if so have you checked to see if your theme is updated for that?
In reply to: How to rename HOME Tab?Have you set your own menu up under Appearance > menus?
In reply to: Problem with buddypress ( instalation)Ok so it’s probably a plugin that isn’t updated and as a result being an issue – that’s my best guess here.
In reply to: Problem with buddypress ( instalation)If you can try 5 and find out 4 we may have some more information to judge with.
In reply to: Forums format and width issuesIt’s a little hacky but I managed to get it looking a little better by adding a width value to the p tag and also to the bbp-replies table.
This was using http://getfirebug.com/ to see live changes and what I’d suggest is you look using that.
In reply to: Can’t Post to “what’s new” in ActivityHave you updated to the latest theme version along with updating to BuddyPress 1.5?
Have you tried wrapping the stylesheet in this code:
if (!is_admin()){
// output the stylesheet enqueues here
}
In reply to: Problem with buddypress ( instalation)Hmm first up a little more information about your set up would be good.
Are you running single or multisite WordPress?
Are you on the latest WordPress?
Have you checked the minimal server requirements for WordPress and that your server meets these?
Do you have a memory limit in your php.ini file (you may have to ask your host about this)?
Have you tried deactivating all other plugins then just trying BuddyPress with the default theme?No need to link to your admin panel – make sure you don’t put private information also (just incase) on this forum as it’s a public forum.
In reply to: A Solution for Creating Fluid Video Widths In BP!I’d really not recommend any !important like that as a solution it’s also not going to play well with all browsers or as you say keep the aspect ratio – so a bad solution.
I was suggesting from a media queries / html5 point to use modernizr as your shim and sub for respond.js.
In reply to: Am i right to think buddypress is……BuddyPress has it’s own integrated with WordPress users – you can add profile fields and have other control things. In theory they are the same but with additions.
Yes, if you want to maximise what the site does getting a theme designed from the start for BuddyPress is a good step. But, with the template pack as said you don’t have to do that.
In reply to: A Solution for Creating Fluid Video Widths In BP!Modernizr hasn’t had any draw backs for me. What exactly is your issue with it? Just load in WordPress after jquery and works like a charm.
wp_enqueue_script("jquery");
wp_enqueue_script('modernizr', get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . '/scripts/modernizr.js', array("jquery"), '2.0');
I store a hand rolled version of modernizr in my scripts/ folder. As I use child themes I use stylesheet as roll variations depending on what site requires.
My point about the width and stretching is not what the host uses but what you embed – it can limit to the embed size and therefore stretch. But, it depends on what hosting you are using for video.
I’ve worked on both the small and large scale with responsive so know both sides of the story.
Ajax issues sounds to me like a scripting clash I’d check using firebug what is going on if I was you.
In reply to: Need Help Aligning BuddyPress PagesCan you provide a link please to see as this probably is because of your theme and can’t really judge until see what you mean by don’t ‘look like a regular page’?
