In reply to: Registration on Homepage
Ok, well as I assumed you didn’t want to go the show on page front (settings>reading) and want to include the registration page and also other content. There are 2 approaches.
1. Simply show on front and add content to registration page.. If that’s the case under settings > reading you can set to registration (or whatever your registration page is called). You can then add your extra content if want to right there on the page and even format that as you want your homepage to be.
2. Port the form code and registation page contents into your theme index.php. So, what you’d look at registration/register.php (in bp-default theme). That will show you the registration format and you can just port that into your home page. You will want to clean this all up though when you do and remove the content divs and other things that won’t fit your theme.
If you’re not happy coding though that ajax registration may be the way for you to go.
In reply to: Avatar can’t cropI’ve seen this twice happen and once it was due to a scripting clash and the other time was due to using older versions of files than the BuddyPress being used.
Can I just get a clarification of what BuddyPress version you are using and if the theme you are using (even if custom) has been updated for that? Also, if possible as a ‘sanity check’ could you test using the default BuddyPress theme? Just so we have a baseline.
In reply to: Registration on HomepageHi, it all depends on what you want to do really there are a number of ways you can have registration on the fornt end:
1. Customisation to load the register.php contents there (done in theme files) – literally have the form there in the page.
Or perhaps…
2. Something like this: http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-ajax-registration/I’m not clear though if you are looking to put the entire form or just some fields.
In reply to: Twitter bootstrapI think just as with any library of scripts (and it is a library of scripts (CSS / js) and images) it’s to be considered a toolbox not an ultimate solution. There are already a few WordPress themes using it. If you wanted to use it to create a BuddyPress theme it could be a good option to speed up the process.
My only note of caution with things like that is to avoid the attack of the clones so to speak. Yes, it’s great but some variation is also great
The web would be a truly boring place if we all had the same looking sites. In reply to: Change where the profile menu is shownCool glad you found it.
In reply to: [RESOLVED} Registration (key) doesn’t workJust to clarify what theme are you using for this test? Sometimes themes can have an impact so wandering if you are using the default BuddyPress theme or not. Also, can you check you’ve saved your permlinks, .htaccess file and also re save your settings page – just to be doubly sure everything is all set.
In reply to: Custom theme designer required for new siteYou may find posting in this group helpful: https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/home/
In reply to: How to turn groups into reviews?https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/group-settings-and-roles/ tells you a bit more about roles and groups to hopefully give you some background to what you can expect from those.
In reply to: Change where the profile menu is shownFirst up what theme are you using? Are you using the default BuddyPress theme?
Depending on the answer to above if it was the default you’d be looking to move:
`
`
I’m not sure that list should still be there to be honest as it’s out there now. Happy to keep if others have opinions it should stay but I’d say it has done the job now and could confuse if not being updated.
In reply to: 404 errorsJust to clarify a few things:
– What version of BuddyPress are you using?
– Have you gone into settings and reset your permlinks?
– Have you made sure you’ve set all your links again on BuddyPress and BBPress (just to make sure)?
– Have you tried using the default theme?
– Have you tried removing all plugins – just incase something is interfering? In reply to: Links being displayed in profile fieldIf possible can I know a little bit more. Such as:
-What type of profile field have you set up?
-Are you using the default theme?
-What text are you adding? Are you copy and pasting or just adding in by typing?First up hoorah to the 1.7 meaning bbPress like templating!
I do like the idea of a new theme in 1.7 then to reflect that. A mobile first, brand spanking new theme – oh my that would rock.
In reply to: Forum Link ProblemJust as a sanity check you’ve set to use forums and you’ve gone through their set up process?
Perhaps resaving your permlinks ‘could’ also help? I’m thinking maybe you have a plugin or something that is also interfering but take it you’ve tried using the default BuddyPress theme and / or removing plugins to see?
In reply to: problem with member list pageMy first thoughts would be that there is something stopping it like a scripting clash. Could you provide a link to your site to see please? Alternatively using a debugger like for instance Firebug, do you see any scripting errors?
Assuming you are using the latest 1.5 BuddyPress I think you can just assign the page you’ve linked to registration as the home page by using reading settings. That’s a lot simpler method doesn’t require any copy and pasting.
In reply to: BuddyPress Activation ErrorOut of interest are you using any other plugins? It could be a plugin clash. I’d also suggest you reset your htacess / permlinks (just incase).
In reply to: Compatibility with Monochrome themeWhat would help would be to see a link to your site, is that possible?
You say there are a ‘few explanations’ I assume you mean error messages? If that is right can you paste them here to see what you are getting?
In reply to: Activation for the registrationIf you want to allow people to register how you do this will vary depending on if you have multisite or not.
If you have multisite:
1. In your Network Admin dashboard, go to Settings
2. Under Allow new registrations select ‘Both sites and user accounts can be registered’.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.Without:
1. Go to Settings > General
2. Next to Membership select ‘Anyone can register’.
3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes. In reply to: Header problem after update buddypress 1.5I’d say that you need to update the theme if you can to a BuddyPress 1.5 version. It looks like it’s looking for CSS and maybe javascript files that don’t exist. Also the javascript files (ajax.php also) may not have been updated.
As it’s your drop down that looks like it’s stopped working that would be probably a scripting issue with an error or resource not being found then causing the rest to fail.
In reply to: New Support Topic Just Disappeared?I’d suggest posting again probably just a glitch.
I don’t think there is one exactly for member profiles unfortunately. I did find this:
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/uploadify-integration/
Not specifically for BuddyPress but possibly if you are a developer or know one it could be adapted.
In reply to: Having user admin menu in a sidebar widgetCould you paste the code using the code tags please?
In reply to: Profile buttons not showing after upgrade 1.5Just to be clear did you update your theme files along with BuddyPress 1.5?
