In reply to: How do I set up a forum?(1) Set up in the wp-admin panel
In the wp-admin panel > BuddyPress > Forums Setup(2) Each group now has access to enabling a forum. Go to Group Settings for each group Group > Admin > Edit Settings. There is a checkbox for enabling the forum.

In reply to: Profile Custom FieldsWe should add more to the codex about profiles…. I’m tied up for a few days. If not tackled by Thursday then I’ll add a page with some text and links to questions (with answers).
Do you have a timeline in mind for migrating to BuddyPress? The bbPress plugin will become available Q1 and should work well with BuddyPress. You might wait until Q1/Q2. Another consideration is installing BuddyPress with your current setup and slowly migrating everything to work together as new versions are released (WP 3.1, BP 1.3, bbPress 1.2…). The later was a decision I made o a site – install but not have it completely tied together – and will slowly connect things as new versions are released.

In reply to: Buddypress on WP 3.0.1Have you read this post?
Hope this helps.
In reply to: Installing BuddyPress 1.2.6 to WordPress 3.0.1If possible, increase the memory limit in either php.ini, .htaccess, or in the wp-config.php file.
In php.ini
`memory_limit = 128M ; Maximum amount of memory a script may consume (128MB)`
Follow the proper procedures for restarting apache, etc..htaccess method
This is in my .htaccess because of file upload limitations in the php.ini as well as memory limits (I use many many plugins).
`php_value memory_limit 256M
php_value upload_max_filesize 55M
php_value post_max_size 55M
php_value max_execution_time 80000
php_value max_input_time 80000`In wp-config.php
`define(‘WP_MEMORY_LIMIT’, ‘128M’);`Welp – glad to have learned something new today. I can see where it is powerful for making many changes at one time.
I went with the poedit software and only goofed up by not naming the po file properly the first time through. Otherwise the directions are spot on .. just a PITA. Probably should have put the file in a different directory too .. will maybe make that change later.
Regardless, forgot to thank you for steering me in the right direction.
OK. Done. But what a horrible procedure :p
So – the bp-custom.php changes the slug and then must go through a language file to change the activity portion …
Doesn’t that seem rather odd? You’d think it should be done in one place …

Sorry to read you are having problems but we’ll need more details from you.
Please consider the following two links:

Additionally, do you have a link to your site so that we may look?

$7 per month just cannot be beat – and an even better price if you pay for a full year in advance. The guys there constantly monitor my site and help out with changes.
In reply to: Guests cannot see forumsSorry to read you are having trouble. A couple of items will help us help.
First, would you please edit your original topic title and provide a title actually dealing with your topic. Something like, “Guests cannot see forums”
Second, here is a link of details we’ll need to be able to help you.
Finally, a link to your site would be most helpful.
Please let us know.
In reply to: Best Plugin for dropdown menus?Hands down “Add All Nav Links to BP Adminbar” is the best plugin for building drop down menus from the admin bar.
In reply to: Installed Template Pack Now I have A White Screen@whitbyglennk – been there many times because sometimes it is just the word choices for finding the threads

Non-admins are not shown the upload fields. Adding the actions and will let you know.
Update: Yes. That worked. Thank you.
Sorry – didn’t see your reply https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/bb_attachments-roles-for-uploading/
We should close that other thread. I’ll have to study `groups_is_user_mod()` rather than `bb_current_user_can()`
In reply to: bb_attachments roles for uploadingSorry, I didn’t see your reply earlier. This thread should be closed. We should continue discussions on the thread linked below:
Yep – tried `read` instead of `participate` but that didn’t work.
