In reply to: WPMS stand alone plus multisite?
Even then, I didn’t see any option for users to create their own blog during or after account creatio
You need to create a Network or make the single site Multisite first -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network If you hit some snags during the process, please post at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite for assistance.
my question is more along the lines of asking if both types of sites can co-exist as one single site.
For a single WP installed e.g. at example.com, you can only create one multisite installation by default where subsites/blogs are either set up in a subdirectory or subdomain structure.
There are plugins to make each subsite into a network of its own and set up BP in each or some of the networks https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wp-multi-network/ or the premium Networks+ http://wpebooks.com/networks/ You should have at least a VPS or Dedicated server when you go this route.
In reply to: buddypress for non-bloggers, take 2?@prabhat1205 do stop posting in year-old topics. Closing this.
In reply to: How to create a business directory in BP?@prabhat1205 please do not post in year-old topics. Closing this.
In reply to: single page for all links and tabsWhat exactly do you mean “get a page in my menu”? Do you mean links in your menu instead? If you mean the latter, then check out https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-custom-profile-menu/
In reply to: WPMS stand alone plus multisite?Maybe I’m misunderstanding what WPMS with BP gives me so figured I’d ask here.
Create a Network, make sure that user and blog creation is enabled in network options and test that you can indeed create subsites. When all is in working order with your WPMS install, you can then install and activate BuddyPress.
One other thing that has been perplexing me is trying to find information showing how a user could either set up their blog when registering or, be able to set up their blog later on if they have already become a registered user.
If you allow user account and blog creation as I mentioned above, then the default registration will show fields for blog(subsite) creation. If you want your users to be able to create a blog only after registration, then you remove the blog creation test/fields in the register.php file. The Create a Blog link will show up in the Blogs Directory page for logged in users.
In reply to: [Resolved] threaded comments won’t work after updateit’s no longer possible to make threaded comments.
@wpte which threaded comments are you referring to? The ones in the activity stream or the ones in single post pages? If you change to bp-default theme, are the threaded comments showing up properly? Unplugged theme has not been updated since BP 1.2 and the author has even removed it from being listed in the WP Theme Repo.
Haven’t seen Labzip’s video guide but this is the first time I’ve read that activating bbPress with BP has caused those issues. More likely cause of issues would be theme or plugin conflict. If you change to bp-default theme, can you see your friends and/or invite someone to the group?
In reply to: How to disable post date?@talha8877 you can remove that from your theme’s single.php file
I need to delete these stock theme files out of the theme through FTP before I can use the Template Pack plugin?
@neodoxa No. DO NOT delete those stock theme files. This means that you don’t need to install/activate the BP Template Plugin at all. But if you did make revisions on those BP template files, I would delete your rocket-made theme folder in server and re-upload a clean copy of the theme.
The last piece of the puzzle for me is getting a completed Buddypress integration with forums.
You’re getting there. Create a new topic if you have any issues with the forums. Good luck.
The problem I’m getting is that it won’t go back to Step 1.
@neodoxa That happens when the BP folders like /activity, /members, etc. were previously transferred to into your active theme already. Delete those BP folders, after backing up if you’ve made changes to those BP templates within already, or choose a new theme and BP Template Pack will start with Step 1.
P.S. Congratulations on critterhub.com, content is still interesting and has grown a lot. I must say you made “Hedgehog Diet” an interesting read. Bravo! 🙂
In reply to: [Resolved] Why no topics showing on home page?Font-size coming from this block:
#bbpress-forums ul.bbp-lead-topic,
#bbpress-forums ul.bbp-topics,
#bbpress-forums ul.bbp-forums,
#bbpress-forums ul.bbp-replies {
font-size: 12px;
}
Change that by copying and pasting the block into your style.css file and changing it to
font-size: 14px !important;
or whatever unit of measurement is used in your theme.While you’re there, I suggest that you add this block to your stylesheet as well:
.bbp-body .bbp-topic-title img.avatar,
.bbp-body .bbp-topic-freshness img.avatar,
.bbp-template-notice img.avatar,
.bpp-author-avatar img.avatar {
width: 14px;
}In reply to: custmizing Login pageYou do not need to change your theme in the tutorial at all. If you just need a login redirect plugin, https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-login-redirect/
In reply to: Active theme deactivated after update to 1.6.2Closing this topic. Answered at https://buddypress.org/support/topic/bp-default-required-after-wp-3-5-bp-1-6-2/
In reply to: All I See Is “Edit This Page”@liuyannan171 you need to make your WP theme compatible with BP by installing the BP Template Pack plugin and going through the compatibility process. Or, you could wait for BP 1.7 and the BP template files will automagically be served via your page.php file
In reply to: want to make compatible with bp my themeIn reply to: Disable or remove breadcrumbsSite URL?
In reply to: bp-default required after WP 3.5 BP 1.6.2@unclesam all custom themes (BP child themes or any other theme) must be uploaded in wp-content/themes/ folder and not in the wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/ directory or elsewhere.
@naijaping add the following at the top of your theme’s functions.php file
/**
* Sets up the content width value based on the theme’s design and stylesheet.
*/
if ( ! isset( $content_width ) )
$content_width = 625;change 625 to theme content width. See how it’s done with twenty twelve theme https://themes.svn.wordpress.org/twentytwelve/1.1.1/functions.php
@buddies You forgot to add the link to create a group when you changed header tag. See rest of answer and code at http://pastebin.com/9Wd7cJGp
There’s no plugin in WP repo that does precisely what you want. You’d either have to create it or hire a developer to do so.
In reply to: Budypress profile link from WordPressbp_loggedin_user_domain()used withif (is_user_logged_in())
like it’s done in bp-default theme’s sidebar.php@ttce the instructions above are for Step 3 of the BP Template Pack plugin’s compatibility process. I just cleaned code and updated it at http://wp.me/p1I84P-1J
In reply to: Budypress profile link from WordPressIn reply to: custmizing Login pageYou’re afraid to copy the style modifications I posted for BP Twenty Ten Walkthrough in Codex? Why? You just add those mods at the bottom of your style.css file and save. If you want to make changes or delete those, it’s easy.
