// RESPECTIVE BP TITLES //

Is BP installed in Multisite? If so, is BP installed in main site or defined in subsite?

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

== User registration is currently not allowed ==
@kanat007 This is basic WordPress function. Go to wp-admin Settings > General and go to the line where you can enable registration (off by default) and Save settings.

First, do not upload the WP theme you’re going to use in wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/ like you did in your site.
– Backup server files and DB. Deactivate BP and change to Twenty Eleven theme.
– Move over Techline theme folder to wp-content/themes/
– Activate BP then activate your Techline theme

== I am hosed at JustHost ==
Sorry, never had the opportunity to use the hosting there.

== It worked just fine all day today, but then stopped working again a few minutes ago. ==
Have you checked your error logs? Do you know if your hosting support BuddyPress? Have you contacted webhost tech support about the issues and checked if anything’s been changed in your server and when? Have you tried deactivating other plugins and see if issue arises again?

== I can create a blog from my dashboard, ==
Just to confirm, you can create a blog in wp-admin even if BP is activated?

If yes, what theme are you using? Does same error appear if you change to bp-default theme?

Great tutorial on how to use Firebug to customize your theme by @andrea_r http://www.studiopress.com/tips/using-firebug.htm

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

@poupy There’s a cool tutorial by @pcwriter on precisely how to do that http://wpmu.org/how-to-build-a-facebook-style-members-only-wordpress-buddypress-site/

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

Activate BP sitewide in Network Admin > Plugins, then go through the Installation Wizard https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/setting-up-a-new-installation/installation-wizard/

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

@chitranjanbaghi please do not post on 2-year-old topics. Do start a new topic, your installation has more issues on its own. Closing this thread.

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

Thank you @slaffik

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 11 months ago]

@smartchap16 That plugin won’t work on moving/changing activity stream updates to group forum topics. You’d either have to code this yourself, or hire a developer to do so.

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@marutim You’re welcome. Thank you for confirming it worked

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@ronnie_fantastic You’re welcome. Glad you’ve resolved issues on your own. Some finishing touches to your stylesheet you might like to consider:

`
Add these to bottom of stylesheet:

div.item-list-tabs ul li {
background-image: none;
margin-left: 0;
margin-right: 5px;
}
div#subnav.item-list-tabs {
border-bottom: 0;
}
.padder div.pagination {
margin: 0 !important;
}

CHANGE
div.item-list-tabs ul li:first-child {
margin-left: 15px !important;
}
to
div.item-list-tabs ul li:first-child {
margin-left: 0 !important;
}`

No database connection. Please re-install your WordPress and make sure it is in working order before installing BuddyPress.

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

== other not ==
Then use a regular WP theme for the other blogs.

Re: avatars not showing in sublog
– That is an issue. There’s a fix that worked for some https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/ticket/4252

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@cristian-mihai Site URI? I need to see what’s wrong as I was expecting full alignment based on the structure of your theme.

Reminder per my instruction above:
“If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your gonzo theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your gonzo theme folder in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /members, /groups, /register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.”

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`

`

with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`

`

with the following for registration/register.php:
`

jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});

`

Save files.

C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/flare/

D. Copy the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to your theme’s stylesheet. Adjust to taste.

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@marutim Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your flare theme folder in server during the compatibility process.

If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your flare theme folder in server, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.

Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive.

A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`

`

with the following:
`
<div id="precontent" class="”>

<div id="content" class="”>

<article id="post-” >

`

Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `

…

` or `

..

` to
`

// RESPECTIVE BP TITLES //

`
where applicable, then move this to just right UNDER “ Just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.

Save files.

Using Firebug, you would see that your theme adds an icon on the bottom right corner of the container for elements with .info class. So you need to add some padding on the right of the container to show the icon:
`div#message {
padding-right: 50px;
}`
OR
you can remove the icon entirely like so
`div.info {
background: transparent none;
}`

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

Old code moved per post above

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

Old code not showing up here. The template pack solution is provided at http://wp.me/p1I84P-K

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@ham-radio did you install/activate a theme or a plugin recently? Where are you hosted?

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

B. At the bottom of the same register.php file, replace:
`

`

with the following for registration/register.php:
`

jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});

`

Save file.

[@mercime Participant 13 years, 12 months ago]

@stefan83 the following is specifically for the /registration/register.php file

A. At the top of of the file, replace
`

`

with the following:
`

<div class="post clearfix" id="post-main-“>

`

Then, you’d like to change the registration page title’s header tag from `

…

` or `

..

` to
`

// Registration or Suscription page title //

`

Save file.

If you deactivate BP and create a blog/subsite from the backend, can you go to the newly created blog? If not, then you have to resolve the issue first at https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite
