== I can’t upload Buddypress Default Theme although it’s install ==
@norman-hamilton you don’t need to upload the BP Default theme as it’s already bundled within the BuddyPress plugin ….[edit- I see you’ve been able to activate it already]
In reply to: New BP theme== My only concern is the theme is not responsive at this point ==
I wouldn’t worry about that. The theme is developed with Twitter Bootstrap which has responsive structure and styles in place already.
== I don’t see a link to take me to my home page similar to facebook, essentially my activity stream. ==
What theme are you using? If you’re using BP Default theme, you can click on the link under your avatar to go to your Activity Stream page. Or, if you meant that you wanted the user to be automatically directed to their activity page upon log in, check out https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/welcome-pack/
In reply to: Unable to install group OR Site Wide forums== I am running on a sub-directory Multisite installation ==
Just to clarify – do you mean you installed WP in domain root and your network is subdirectory structure or that you installed WP in a physical subdirectory and went multisite?
Where are you hosted? Unix or Windows server?
Did you install your WP manually i.e., via FTP and wp-admin/install.php or did you use webhost script to install WP e.g. fantastico, softalicious, etc.? If you installed via webhost script, please delete installation and start from scratch.
In reply to: [Resolved] How do I prevent users creating blogs?== t I do not want them to be able to register new blogs and create blog post ==
@toriea You can do that. If you created a network (go multisite), you need to go to Network Admin > Dashboard, then go to Settings > Network Settings where you’ll find Registration Settings: Allow new registrations
— Registration is disabled.
— User accounts may be registered. <=== choose this option
— Logged in users may register new sites.
— Both sites and user accounts can be registered. In reply to: BuddyPress.org Forum Replies and Notifications== What it doesn’t show is whether or not someone replied to my reply. ==
I know what you mean, ala WPorg forums. We don’t have that notification nor custom view at this time for the group forums. I use https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-email-subscrioption/ for own sites.
Not sure whether a feature enhancement for the aforementioned will be entertained at this time because come BP 1.7, group forums will be migrated/merged with sitewide forums. If you feel strongly about it, you can open trac ticket for this.
In reply to: Lots of blank pages@c930586 Might be that something went wrong with the compatibility process. What WP theme are you using? We have a list of around 110 “template-packed” WP themes at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/#template-packed-wordpress-themes with different instructions based on the HTML structure of each theme.
@mrm222 @rickkumar just to clarify
BP Multi Network plugin = multiple instances of BP within multisite installation with different groups, activities, etc. but with shared users across the network.
https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/BuddyPress Multi Network plugin = multiple instances of BP within multisite installation with different groups, activities, etc and different users per subsite. (can be shared users but you’d have to code it yourself or hire a developer to do so)
In reply to: Unable to install group OR Site Wide forumsMake sure that BuddyPress Groups and Forums are set up and running BEFORE you add
define(‘BP_ENABLE_MULTIBLOG’, true); or define(‘BP_ROOT_BLOG, $my_blog_id);`In reply to: Showcase add#1. You should post about your new site at this forum https://buddypress.org/community/groups/gallery/forum/
#2. How can you be included in showcase/gallery when you have a closed/private community site? We’d have to register first to see what’s “unique” about your site, and that’s not kosher.
== What should I do to make sure it is added to the list? ==
#3. The BP Devs usually include sites with established communities.https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-multi-network/ though I haven’t checked it with BP 1.6.1 and WP 3.4.2
Is http://www.minesandmoney.com/portal a subsite of a multisite installation installed in domain root http://www.minesandmoney.com ? Did you define BP in /portal/ subsite or did you enable_multiblog?
In reply to: putting plugin search box in headerAs the mightymo mentioned above, you can create a sidebar/widget area in the header of your theme. Read how http://justintadlock.com/archives/2009/05/26/the-complete-guide-to-creating-widgets-in-wordpress-28
Try re-uploading BuddyPress manually, i.e., via FTP/File Manager/cpanel/etc. and deactivate other plugins while you resolve this issue.
In reply to: BuddyPress Group Forums – Forums Page Empty– When you’re setting up BuddyPress and Group or Sitewide Forums, I suggest using the BP Default theme. After everything’s set up and running as expected, only then do you try out other themes.
– As far as Frisco theme goes, I’ve seen that the theme author has submitted new updated version in WP Theme Repo which will most probably go live (ready for public download) within a week at most.

In reply to: 403 when saving privacy settings of groups== BP is installed only in the members area http://www.mysite.com/members ==
Do you have a single WP install in a physical subdirectory /members/
OR a multisite installation and BP defined in members subdirectory?== when using the top Right drop down Menu …. It seams like only the new users (a few months now) are having this problem. ==
What browser/s are they using? Did these new users register the same way old users did or were they added via script or plugin? Did you install any membership plugin? In reply to: BuddyPress pages widght and sidebar problemsYou need to install/activate the BP Template Pack plugin to make any WP theme compatible with BuddyPress. Then you have to go through Appearance > BP compatibility process.
@flyj4ck Re Gonzo theme. Recently helped someone with the compatibility process and I assume it’s the same theme https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-issue/ If you have any issues after following the instructions, post in that thread.
Please be courteous.
In reply to: Ignore FunctionYou can create a new ticket in trac for this enhancement https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/newticket
Log in with same username and password used here/WPIn reply to: I can’t finish installation@inakio “pretty permalinks” are REQUIRED for BP to work in your installation and there’s no way to get around this.
@marutim best place to ask and search in, is at BuddyDev forums.
Notes:
1. Other than BuddyPress, you do not need to install another plugin to make @sbrajesh BP MultiNetwork.
2. This plugin requires that you have BP-ready or BP-compatible theme activated in all the sites of your multisite install. I strongly suggest that you test this in say, 3 sites first, using the bp-default theme and only BP and BP Multinetwork plugins installed.
3. Back to original statement, best place to ask is at BuddyDev forums. In reply to: Author PluginIn reply to: How do i MODIFY the actual “BLOG” on BPThe “blog” index page of the BP Default theme is the index.php file
In reply to: BuddyPress.org Forum Replies and Notifications@themightymo checking if you received notification for this mention.
Not sure. Have you checked if issue is resolved if you deactivate that membership plugin?
