Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
…
` or `
..
` to `
// Titles Of Respective BP Page Templates //
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
Per instruction in BP Codex, add shortcode `
Start creating forums in dashboard Forums > New Forum and add topic/s to forums.
1) Change titles using language translation file – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/customizing-labels-messages-and-urls/
2)
a) Setup forum without groups ==> Yes. Install Sitewide Forums via dashboard BuddyPress > Forums https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
b) Use Groups as Categories ==> Coming up in BP 1.6 or so per roadmap.
Great. Simplifying is better
You’re welcome. Marking this as resolved.
B. At the bottom of the same 16 files, replace:
`
`
with the following (except for registration/register.php):
`
`
with the following for registration/register.php:
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`
Save files.
C. Upload the 6 BP folders containing the 16 files you’ve just revised to your server wp-content/themes/neu/
D. Copy the style modifications made in BP Twenty Ten at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste to your theme’s stylesheet. Adjust to taste.
Based on the HTML structure of your theme, you need to use the first option, i.e., change 16 template files within the 6 BP folders transferred to your Neu theme folder in server during the compatibility process.
If you’ve previously changed any of the BP template files in your theme folder, replace all of them for a clean slate by deleting the 6 BP folders in server – /activity, /blogs, /forums, /groups, /members, and /registration – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility.
Download the 6 clean BP folders to your computer hard drive. We’re going to use the basic HTML structure of your theme.
A. At the top of each of those 16 template files I linked to above, replace
`
with
`
Then, in each of 16 files, you’d like to change the BP Templates’ page title’s header tag from `
` or `
` to `
`, just watch out when you do this in the /activity/index.php page.
Save files.
@venusd no problem. Just to sure, could you post the source codes of your theme’s header.php and loop-page.php to pastebin.com or tinypaste. Please feel free to donate to the American Red Cross
Thanks.
== Linux. Single WP. WP/BP is installed on the domain root. ==
Deactivate plugins esp. membership plugins and re-upload BuddyPress then activate bp-default theme.
== that sitewide forums was a known issue that was expected to be sorted out by BP 1.6 =
There have been some who posted in our forums about issues with getting both working at the same time. Some have been resolved by reinstalling WP manually instead of using webhost script to install WP. Many have been resolved by changing the Archive base slug of Sitewide Forums to avoid slug conflict with Group forums, etc. then adding the bbPress shortcode/s.
As for BP 1.6, it’s in the roadmap to migrate existing Group Forums into Sitewide Forums.
== we changed the password in theme/wp-config ==
I presume your missing topics are in the Group Forums which means that you forgot to also change the DB info/password in the bb-config.php file (generated when Group forums are installed) which is located in the same directory where your wp-config.php is located.
What could very well be causing your issue is that you used a webhost script to install WordPress in the first place and it could very well be causing issues with your BuddyPress installation – see https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#system-server where “WordPress should be installed manually i.e. via FTP, cpanel, etc. and NOT via webhost scripts which bring about numerous issues when BuddyPress is activated.”
@niwaroll Next Avengers cast eh? Thanks, glad it worked out for you
@venusd
– I recommend that we remove the featured area atop the “About” Page content like it’s done http://demo.colorlabsproject.com/neu/about/ and showing up in the Page template you posted per link above
– Plus, you’ll need some horizontal space for the BP components, so I suggest that we remove that categories column/widget on the left of the content area
– so before I proceed, are you okay with the recommendations above?
@hnla sounds like a good plan especially for topics posted from more than 6 months ago ago. We need a plugin to close forum topics automatically ala WPorg forums after a number of months/a year I think. Since group forums are moving over to bbPress plugin, then a plugin for a plugin
In the meantime, I need exceptions for theme compatibilty topics where a few users have even volunteered improvements to styles, structure, etc. among others. Come BP 1.7 or so with theme compatibility set up, I will make sure to close those topics.
@megart04 do start a new topic for your issue. Your issue is different than that of OP so do not add a link to your new topic here. Thanks.
bp homepage plugin as in https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-profile-as-homepage/ or https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-my-home/?
== the only problem is that I want users to be able to go to the hompage again after they’re login ==
Not clear. You mean a member cannot go to the homepage after they land in their profile page?Have you tried contacting plugin author about this?
I can only speak for the bp-default theme:
– default blog pages == index.php https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.5/bp-themes/bp-default/index.php
BP Corporate might just have a home.php page which trumps the index.php page per template hierarchy
– search results page == search.php https://buddypress.trac.wordpress.org/browser/tags/1.5.5/bp-themes/bp-default/search.php
What theme are you using? If you’re using a WP theme and installed BP Template Pack, did you keep bp.css enabled? If you’ve created a child theme of bp-default, did you follow the directory structure from bp-defauit when you copied template files over to child theme to make the revisions?
== Page errors on everything I tried to do in terms of interacting with the members page- next page results, sorting, searching, etc. ==
Windows or Linux? Single WP or WP Multisite? Where is your WP/BP installed? Domain root or subdirectory or subdomain? if the two latter ones – make sure the subdir and subdom are not named the same as a BP component. e.g. groups.example.com and example.com/groups are no-no’s
== ie have you guys had any luck with getting sitewide forums working yet? ==
We’ve got both forums working together ever since BP 1.5 https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/installing-group-and-sitewide-forums/
== I’m just trying to find out out to attach categories or tags to BuddyPress posts. ==
The same way you attach categories or tags to WordPress Blog Posts in the backend
WP/BP versions? Theme used? Did you deactivate plugins other than BuddyPress to see which one is making this happen in your installation?
B. Create a BLANK sidebar-buddypress.php
Open up the sidebar-buddypress.php file and add this
`
jQuery(document).ready( function() {
if ( jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).length && !jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).hasClass(‘show’) )
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).toggle();
jQuery( ‘input#signup_with_blog’ ).click( function() {
jQuery(‘div#blog-details’).fadeOut().toggle();
});
});
`
Save file.
C. Create a BLANK footer-buddypress.php file. That’s it. Keep this file blank.
D. Upload header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php to your theme folder in server wp-content/themes/yserif/ at the same directory where your regular header.php and page.php files are in.
E. Copy the style modifications for some BP elements https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-ten-bp-1-5/3/ and paste those at the bottom of your theme’s stylesheet, then adjust to taste.
Note: There are many sidebars in the theme, but no need to paste them here.
@candy2012 peace be with you too
@niwaroll Per initial scan, you only need to create three new files, header-buddypress.php, sidebar-buddypress.php and footer-buddypress.php
If you’ve revised any of the BP template files transferred to your yserif theme folder in server during the BP Compatibility process, please delete the 6 BP folders transferred to your yserif theme folder in server – activity, blogs, forums, members, groups, register – then re-run Appearance > BP Compatibility again to make sure that you have clean template files.
A. COPY your theme’s header.php and Save As > header-buddypress.php
Open up header-buddypress.php and at the bottom of the file, below other code contained within, add this:
`
<div id="f9-container" class="”>
Save file.
Edit History, in all probability will not work with current bbPress plugin and bbpress quotes look good for current bbPress, no guarantees though. The best place to ask about this is at bbPress forums – log in using same username and password used here.
@mariilou if registration still doesn’t work if BuddyPress and other BP plugins are deactivated, have you tried deactivate other WP plugins to see if either of those conflict with your activation email. If email doesn’t work even with all plugins deactivated, then it’s a hosting issue with WP installation. Have you contacted webhost for tech support regarding your email issues?
