In reply to: how do members register?
Registration is disabled by default in any WP/BP installation. You need to enable registration in your dashboard menu Settings > General panel and save.
If you’re using bp-default theme, you’ll see a register link appear in the right sidebar under the login form.
In reply to: [Resolved] Ray of Light WordPress Theme issuesThis is what I need to help you make your theme compatible with BuddyPress as I posted above.
Open up your ray of light theme’s header.php file, copy all source, go to pastebin.com, paste copied source, click submit, and post the generated pastebin uri here. Do the same for your theme’s footer.php, sidebar.php, index.php and page.php files.
Only after checking out those files will I be able to make any determination and/or request from your theme developer.
In reply to: Activity Filter Cookie Killing AjaxI can see that your BP and WP plugins are activated. From viewing source, I see that you’re using outdated BuddyPress 1.2 version. There have been a lot of bug fixes between BP 1.2 and current BP 1.5.3.1 so at this stage it’s hard to say what’s happening in your installation.
In reply to: How do I insert the big avatar?Build a child theme of bp-default theme https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
Size of the avatar in comments is handled by bp-default theme’s `function bp_dtheme_blog_comments`
Create a new functions.php file for your child theme if you haven’t one yet and add the following to the file http://pastebin.com/cSQ1gGm8
Adjust avatar size (I made it 150px for original comment and 100px for replies to comment) then save and upload to your child theme folder. Change avatar sizes to preferred sizes. You would also need to adjust CSS of comments section accordingly.
In reply to: Registration and Activation pages missingGood for you. Yup, fun stuff awaits
In reply to: [Resolved] Ray of Light WordPress Theme issuesTo clarify:
– You installed WP and activated BuddyPress in physical subdomain buddypress of centennialchristianchurch.com
– You installed and activated BP Template Pack plugin and have gone through Appearance > BP Compatibility https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/wordpress-to-buddypress-theme/
– For Step 3 of the compatibility process, you need to use the 1st method (change 16 BP template files) OR the 2nd method (xxx-buddypress.php file) to make your theme compatible with BP. You haven’t changed anything in your theme files yet?Open up your ray of light theme’s header.php file, copy all source, go to pastebin.com, paste copied source, click submit, and post the generated pastebin uri here. Do the same for your theme’s footer.php, sidebar.php, index.php and page.php files.
In reply to: Registration and Activation pages missing@andreao @pedromoore @Larsjorgensen
– make sure you have enabled registration first in dashboard Settings > General panel, otherwise there won’t be a register page at all
– check dashboard BuddyPress > Pages and ensure that Register and Activate are associated with Pages already
– double-check wp-content/plugins/buddypress/bp-themes/bp-default/registration folder. It should contain register.php and activate.php files. If any are missing, reupload registration folder or re-install BuddyPress manually.
In reply to: Error editing profile fields– WP/BP versions?
– Single WP or WP multisite?
– What theme are you using?
– What plugins do you have installed?
– Have you tried basic troubleshooting like changing to bp-default theme and deactivating all plugins except BP to see if issue is corrected?First thing. #2) If you’re changing the BP template pack files, then backup and remove the header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php files we created from your quickstart theme folder in server.
It’s either the 1st method (changing BP template pack files which you did) OR the 2nd method (xxx-buddypress.php files), because mixing them for BP Compatibility is unnecessary and can cause issues if you mix up your HTML structure.
#1) If you delete the header-buddypress.php and sidebar-buddypress.php files then the changes to the stylesheet will be different assuming you got the markup correct.
Before taking final measures however, perhaps you’d copy source code of your full width page template from quickstart and post to pastebin.com. We could take a look at changing header- and sidebar-buddypress.php instead if feasible.
In reply to: How to make BP plug-in?You mean you want to create a plugin like http://buddydev.com/plugins/bp-gallery/ ?
Have you checked out BP Album/Media https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-album/home/
Or, if you really want to start from scratch, you might want to check out how BP Plugins can be made via reading source and using necessary sections at https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-skeleton-component/
@amberseree you should start a new topic instead of adding onto a topic re totally different theme

In any case, check out the style mods for Twenty Eleven given here https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/theme-dev-bp-template-pack-walkthrough-twenty-eleven-bp-1-5/3/

Plugins activated? In reply to: Home Page Fine: Others Error 404Per link I gave you above …
While permalinks will continue to work, the main site (i.e. the first one created) will have an extra entry of blog ..
… and so when you added /blog/ to your permalink structure, a big conflict.
In reply to: Registration and Activation pages missing– deactivate the sliding login plugin
– double-check if the register/ folder is in your organic_health_blue folder in wp-content/themesIn reply to: Switching from Snitz to bbPressThis is something you should ask at the bbPress forums https://bbpress.org/forums/
In reply to: Buddy Press Search OptionsCool. Good luck with the group chat.
In reply to: Home Page Fine: Others Error 404== It’s set up for subfolders with multisite, not subdomains ==
My bad. But using /blog/ in permalinks with the subfolder structure is even worse. That’s why you need to change permalinks. See why: https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#Permalinks
