In reply to: Widgetize MyBuddyPress theme
Here’s a very good tutorial about sidebar widgets. It would involve adding code to theme’s sidebar.php and functions.php files http://justintadlock.com/archives/2010/11/08/sidebars-in-wordpress
Rename plugins folder in server to e.g. plugins-x via FTP or cpanel to access wp-admin
If you installed internal bbPress forum via dashboard menu > BuddyPress > Forum Setup, it shouldn’t cause any problem with access to your /wp-admin/. Do you mean you installed the beta bbPress plugin?.
In reply to: Login doesn’ t workIn reply to: Whats up with this buddypress.org ?@lschnellinger search can easily be done via google in the meantime e.g. “buddypress.org memory limit”

In reply to: [Resolved] Compatibility with InStyle ThemeUPDATE 07-11-2012: Check out the latter half of Page 3 of this topic for the instructions for latest version of Instyle theme
1. Download BP template files transferred to your active WP theme via the BP compatibility process to your computer hard drive.
2. Open up /activity/index.php with text editor. We’re going to replace the top and bottom sections of the file.
At the top of the file, replace
``
with
``
then at the bottom of the /activity/index.php, replace
``
with
``
In reply to: Groups not working after WP upgradeConflict in plugin or theme. Please change to bp-default theme and deactivate plugins except BuddyPress.
In reply to: Try to click links, and nothing happens?Even if plugins/theme are up to date, deactivate all plugins and change theme to bp-default. Clear cache. See if issue is corrected with the change.
In reply to: Images in the blogroll are not visible, please help!Do you mean blog posts? Because blogroll has a special mean in WP sites https://codex.wordpress.org/Glossary#Blogroll
Are you referring to post thumbnails or featured images in posts? Did you check if your theme supports post thumbnails?
In reply to: BP Admin Bar overlaps my dashboardDidn’t mean to replicate it
The fixes were add/change some styles in the adminbar.css within said child theme:
`body { margin-top: 0px; }
#header { margin-top: 28px; }`You haven’t said what theme you’re using, so I wouldn’t know if the above will fix your adminbar.
Double-checked this for a friend, BuddyPress does not work where WordPress is given its own directory. I figured the rationale was one cannot create a network with that set up https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#WordPress_Settings_Requirements. I just moved WP to physical subdomain and it was good to go
In reply to: Profile link?Re my bp_loggedin_user_domain code above, add text between ` .. ` like “My Profile”
In reply to: Profile link? You can add the following within the menu
<li><a href=#"></a></li>Your revised menu will look like something like this:
<ul id="nav"> <li> ... </li> <li> ... </li> <li></li> <li> .... </li> </ul>In reply to: page not foundWhat theme are you using? Clear cache. Use bp-default theme to test. If it’s still not working even if you’ve already made “pretty permalinks”, what’s in your .htaccess file?
In reply to: Can’t reply to activities in StreamDeactivate all plugins and change to bp-default theme.

Also, it would be better if you posted code at http://pastebin.com/ , click submit and post the generated URL here.
In reply to: User Pages Not Workingsame question, brigon.
In reply to: Move Buddypress from subfolder to rootWhat do you currently have at the root of your domain?
It would be pretty much the same as moving WordPress from subfolder to domain root or elsewhere.
Always backup database and server files to your computer hard drive before attempting the change, just in case.https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
https://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_The_Site_URLIn reply to: BP Admin Bar overlaps my dashboard@astromono I finally found an instance of BP admin bar over the site title and network admin in backend just minutes ago:-) It was in the old bp-child theme I was revising which had adminbar.css from way back when.
In reply to: I’d like to add a blog to my site….You can add “Blog” page in BP-compatible themes much like how you can do this in a regular WP site – http://www.nathanrice.net/blog/creating-a-blog-page-with-paging/
If that doesn’t work for you, contact BuddyBoss theme authors as they would know if there were any blocks to creating the “Blog” page per instructions above.
In reply to: User Pages Not WorkingThere could be a number of reasons for the errant behavior.
– WP/BP versions?
– BP Template Pack veriion?
– Have you deactivated all plugins except BuddyPress and changed to bp-default theme? Clear cache. Does same bad behavior return or is it fixed?
– When you say, “I could not edit my user info” do you mean your profile page or one of your user’s info?In reply to: Adding widget areas to default theme?First, do not make revisions in bp-default theme. Revisions will be overwritten when BP is upgraded.
Instead,
– create a child theme of bp-default theme, e.g. mybpproject,
https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
– create a functions.php file and put it in your child theme folder. Define new widget/s here (name, ID, etc)
– copy over the template file from bp-default theme to your child theme folder (following directory structure) then add the call to dynamic_sidebar in that template. In reply to: Child theme / theme edited?== edited the theme a little (ie changed “Groups” to “Classes” etc). ==
Where did you make those edits? Check:
– in wp-config.php; then open up wp-config.php and delete the line which changes Groups to Classes
– in language file; go to your theme’s /language/ folder backup the poedit to computer hard drive then delete from server
– or in file/s you copied over to the bp-default child theme, then backup child theme in your computer hard drive and delete child theme from server
