In reply to: bbpress forums / sidebar. Need Help Please! 🙂
Yes, I suggest that you check Platform Pro theme forums or documentation and see whether the theme lives up to the “buddypress” tag, which should include at the very least providing the markup necessary to use on BP template pack files – 2 col or 3 col per your choice.
I checked the free version in WP theme repo and content of index.php contains basically the same `setup_pagelines_template();` so you can’t tell till you look at page source code online and then eliminate the header and footer markups to find out which markup you need for the BP template files – which can be overwhelming for many.

In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages! Thanks. There are 11 HTML markup validation errors on the page which included a missing closing div. I have revised the HTML replacement for the bottom portion of activity/index.php
In reply to: Buddyperss template pack for Elegantthemes (HELP!)There is a BP Template Pack for Elegant Themes? Who’s the author?
The image you posted alone won’t help us help you. If you used the template pack plugin, check whether 6 BP folders with files inside were transferred to your active WP theme folder. Here’s an example on how to copy over HTML structure of WP theme onto BP template pack files https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages!Create a full-width page with short title and simple content and publish. Please post the URI to that page here.
In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages!Looked at page source, there were errors when you posted the code – missing closing greater than symbol in first line and extra quotation mark in third line.
`<div class="clearer"`
change above section to

In reply to: Need help with the BP Compatability PackActually, it’s working per my check at http://diabolicalleague.com/activity since that’s where the file activity/index.php is rendered. You’d have to make the revisions in the other BP template files to contain the other components and then add some styling to finish the theming part.

In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages! Before we continue, make sure that you’ve upgraded BP Template Pack plugin to latest version, so that you won’t have to do this all over again. Download the BP template files transferred to your theme in server down to your computer hard drive.
Starting with activity/index.php, replace top part:
``
with
``At the bottom part of activity/index.php, replace
``
with
``
Save file and upload to folder following the structure of theme folder in server
In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages!Morticia, what’s needed is the code within the full-wdith/one-column template file you have within active theme folder which should have something like “ at the top and “ at the bottom and code in between.
In reply to: Need help with the BP Compatability PackBefore we continue, make sure that you have upgraded to latest BP Template Pack 1.1.2 so you won’t have to do this over again.
There’s no #container in activity/index.php. You also need to replace code at the bottom of index.php
At top of activity/index.php file, replace:
``
with
``At the bottom of activity/index.php, replace
``
with
``
In reply to: Buddypress is Not my Buddy… :o(Tom, you should read this, esp. Server and WP configurations https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/
== Q: How do I ensure mod-rewrite is enabled? If it’s a matter of making log entries in wp with ‘other than default permalinks’ selected, then this is fine and I can post to the wp blog. ==
But is your URI “pretty”? As in looking like http://yoursite.com/about and not http://yoursite.com/?page_id=2
If it’s the latter, then your mod_rewrite is not working or not enabled. Are you on Linux/Unix server or Windows?
Find .htaccess located at root of your WP installation. So if you installed WP in domain root, you would find .htaccess file here http://yourdomain.com/.htaccess If you have access to cpanel, open it up with editor and copy the content and paste here.
== and NOT via webhost scripts ==
Webhost scripts being referred to here are simplescripts and fantastico, etc provided by webhosting services which have caused many issues especially with BP.
A manual installation just involves uploading WP files to server via FTP/cpanel/etc, creating database, then running http://yoursite.com/wp-admin/install.php and going through the process.
== I have now installed BP/WP on the root folder for the domain whereas I had it under the subdir blog. ==
Not exactly what it’s meant, but it’s good that you have WordPress at domain root.
After you have successfully installed WP and set permalinks to other than the default permalink in dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks, you need to check that you have pretty permalinks working.
Then go to dashboard menu Plugins > Add New, install then activate BuddyPress plugin.

In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages! We know the source code for the activity index.php already already. What we don’t know is the HTML structure of your full-width/one-column page.
In reply to: How To Create a Classroom EnvironmentYou’re welcome. Good luck
In reply to: bbpress forums / sidebar. Need Help Please! 🙂@jonobradley you would have to download the BP template files transferred to your active WP theme.
Then, manually super-impose the HTML structure of your theme’s onto said BP template files
After which, upload revised files to your theme folder in server
Some helpful hints at https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/In reply to: Desperately need help creating full width pages!Morticia, unfortunately, the theme you’re using is a premium theme so we have no way to see the code unless we pay for it to help you. Check out this tutorial with how to impose HTML structure of your theme’s one-column page onto the BP template files transferred to your active WP theme’s folder. https://codex.buddypress.org/theme-development/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
In reply to: Avatars Not Working With SubdomainThe above old code is for multisite, while your install is not one per your first post.
== It keeps looking for them in the main domain. ==
I have one test site in physical subdomain and have no problems with avatars
– WP/BP versions?
– Are you using bp-default theme?
– Installed WP in root of subdomain?
– Installed WP via fantastico or simplescripts etc? Ditch that and start from scratch and do manual installation – FTP/cpanel upload, etc.
– Is GD library installed in your server? What kind of server are you on?In reply to: Can’t get to BP from WPDeactivate BuddyPress. Then re-upload BuddyPress files manually – FTP or cpanel, etc – clear cache, then activat BP again.
Another note, if you installed WordPress via simplescripts or fantastico, then I suggest you start from scratch and install WP manually – upload via FTP/cpanel, create DB, etc.
mod_rewrite must be enabled for “pretty permalinks” which is required by BuddyPress. Go to dashboard menu Settings > Permalinks and set it to other than default settings. Check your htaccess file.
