In reply to: CSS for member page
@johnwinch42 those are definitely cool options but no plugin has been released for those functions yet.
Check out https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/creating-a-custom-buddypress-component/ – Unfortunately the BP Skeleton Component has not been upgraded since Feb 2010 – ping! @djpaul ping! @boonebgorgesIn reply to: Member profile buttons unavailable@intimez – check out @hotforword’s fix/upgrade to BP Template Pack – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-template-pack-and-buddypress-1-2-6-things-break-but-i-have-a-solution
In reply to: On SubDomain Blogs – SOME Avatars Not DisplayingInitially, I thought it could have been cause by missing lines in .htaccess file, but since you have post images showing up in your subdomain blogs, I would double-check if code needs to be updated in your premium theme. Contact theme author for support.
In reply to: Change Component Name “Blogs” to “Websites/Blogs”@roberte you’re welcome. good luck
In reply to: Buddybar not showing at top of the site?@zenzard yup, clear as mud. Never used Page Theme plugin. You might want to contact Page Theme plugin author to get it to work with two BP compatible themes. On the other hand, it looks to me that it’ll be much easier and more future-proof to create Page Template/s instead.
In reply to: Change Component Name “Blogs” to “Websites/Blogs”The following info in BP Codex will get you there

https://codex.buddypress.org/buddypress-site-administration/changing-internal-configuration-settings/In reply to: CSS for member page@johnwinch42 No, it is not easily modifiable if you’ve not written a plugin, but if you have PHP experience, give it a shot. And for pure CSS manipulation via body class filters, you as Super Admin would have to add individual member CSS in style.css – that’ll be a lot.
In reply to: Multiple BP installationOne BP per network whether single network or multiple networks from one WP installation.. https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/can-buddypress-function-like-ning-com/#post-77778
In reply to: Forum Set-up (Techno-klutz alert: on)@mrmzworld I would suggest that you backup database and upgrade to WP 3.0.1.
To create a group, go to yoursite.com/groups and you’ll see a create a group button. In reply to: Blogs, how?Did you enable creation of blogs in Super Admin > Options ;panel?
In reply to: CSS for member pageRe plugin – you might want to look at how BP Group CSS plugin is done – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/buddypress-group-css/ where CSS can be set by group
Re pure CSS manipulation – filter body class to add e.g. username to body class so you can manipulate layout, colors, fonts, etc. in individual member pages
In reply to: Installed Template Pack Now I have A White Screen@whitbyglennk if you have BP 1.2.6 installed, there’s some conflict with BP Template Pack https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/. Check out @hotforwords‘ BP Template Pack “fix/upgrade” in this thread https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-template-pack-and-buddypress-1-2-6-things-break-but-i-have-a-solution
In reply to: Buddybar not showing at top of the site?“The primary theme is buddypress enabled,”
@zenzard – what primary theme? Per your post, you’re using “Ecolines” theme from repo, but I can’t find any such theme there https://wordpress.org/extend/themes/1. Build a bp-default child theme – https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/building-a-buddypress-child-theme/
2. Open up style.css file of child theme and override fonts, colors and widths of parent theme elements by adding new styles for said elementsIn reply to: Duplicate site name in all page titles?BP/WP versions? What theme are you using? Site URL?
In reply to: Buddybar not showing at top of the site?To get a WP theme working with BP, you need to install the BP Template Pack plugin then go through the steps – see BP Template Pack walkthrough https://codex.buddypress.org/extending-buddypress/bp-template-pack-walkthrough-level-easy-2/
Btw, BP Template Pack plugin needs to be updated for BP 1.2.6 yet, but someone has unofficially updated it at https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/buddypress-template-pack-and-buddypress-1-2-6-things-break-but-i-have-a-solutionIn reply to: Can BuddyPress Function Like Ning.com@pickykim while there are interested devs, methinks some might wait till after BP 1.3 rolls out
in the meantime, you might want to post in the job board group – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/bp-jobs-board/forum/ good luck.@commentluv – if you want the blogs to be subdomain structure as in newblog.domain.com, doesn’t matter where you install BP, what’s important is that you must install WP in main domain and set up WP to create a network using subdomain structure.
In reply to: EMERGENCYYou have to resolve permalink issue in WordPress before installing BuddyPress.
Apache Module mod_rewrite must be enabled for “pretty permalinks” so check with your webhost. Or, if you have access to the httpd.conf file, find #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so and delete the # to uncomment itCheck out other WP configuration requirements before installing BP
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configurationIn reply to: Pagination for Users doesn’t workWhat theme are you using? bp-default or child theme of bp-default? Is BP installed in main site or secondary blog?
In reply to: Member Profile AlignmentSeconding @r-a-y works in IE browsers, Chrome, Safari and Opera.
@sumans you already started a thread about that and r-a-y gave you the answer, changing the_content to the_excerpt
@hotforwords Marina, thanks for sharing your update, will be checking it out in test install for a tutorial.
In reply to: Can BuddyPress Function Like Ning.comNo. At this time, there is no BuddyPress Multisite, BP can only be installed in one blog – main site OR one of subsites then track all member information/posts across the multisite installation. Having said that, there’s nothing to prevent a super programmer to code a script for a BP Multisite.
In reply to: Making all blogs public?BP 1.2.6? Are you using bp-default or child theme thereof? Any privacy plugin enabled? By default, BP’s blogs directory shows all public user blogs.
In reply to: unable to remove search bar from BP default header@dtclarinet If you’re using BP 1.2.6, copy header.php from bp-default theme into your child theme folder, then remove lines 84 – 102 from header.php and upload. Shouldn’t be any white screen.
EDIT- modemlooper’s advice to remove via CSS is easier
