You would have to be more specific. BP version? Where is BP installed – main site or secondary blog? You’re using bp-default theme on main site and subsite?
In reply to: Buddypress on MultisiteThere’s no BuddyPress MU/MS at this time.
In reply to: Buddypress on MultisiteBP Codex is your friend – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/install-buddypress-on-a-secondary-blog/
In reply to: Making all blogs public? You mean that you want all blogs created in your install are listed in blog directory? Make sure that Settings > Privacy in all blogs created are set to allow Google indexing.
In reply to: How do I get rid of “Buddypress is ready” message?Glad you resolved it on your own. Btw, forgot to add, you should also install BP Template Pack to get BP components working in your WP theme – https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
In reply to: Editing profile redirects to homepage?By default, BuddyPress is activated in the primary site. If you want to acitivate BP in secondary blog /buddy/

In reply to: Getting Buddypress to look right on my themeI prepared this BP Template Pack walkthrough using the free Motion Theme which may be able to help you. Depending on the HTML structure of your WordPress theme, it could take from an hour or so.
In reply to: buddy press pls kill meYou might want to go over other WP configurations which need to be working well before installing BuddyPress for a less bumpy ride later..
P.S. “BuddyPress, pls kill me” just caught my eye

@hnla – the only time the upload didn’t work for me fwas after I upgraded to WP 3.0 and it was my fault for not double-checking the necessary change in .htaccess was done, I just assumed it did
Needless to say that you wouldn’t have made that kind of error at all. What did @sbrajesh say about your situation? He has helped many others with their installs – even checking the servers and configurations.Since BP Gallery has multiple file uploads with group albums as well as single user albums, the way he structured the plugin was the most logical way IMO. Personally, the bottom line for me is that as long as the plugin is working according to plan and the community members are happy with their user and group albums, so am I
I’m looking forward to the BP Gallery upgrade after BP 1.2.6 rolls out. With BP Gallery by @sbrajesh, you can enable/disable uploads from Activity stream update. You will also be then asked to associate that photo to album/s you have already created. In addition, when you create a user or a group album (if you enable it), you have the option of publishing 5 images or so to your activity stream or the group’s activity stream.
In reply to: BuddyPress Login Dialog/Interface@jhansensd http://testbp.org/ has the default theme and your users don’t have to go to the backend to log in. As for registration, it’s the “Create an account” in same login panel on the sidebar. You can can easily create a Register Now button in your BP child theme if you prefer. Users do not install bbPress, the Site Admin does.
Recommend that you read the “Getting Started” section in Codex – https://codex.buddypress.org/home/
If your WP is running well in that same server, permalinks are set to other than default, and only BuddyPress plugin is activated in your install, then I would venture that you might also need to increase PHP memory limit
In reply to: is bp-dev.org dead?I agree, looking of some kind-hearted soul to upgrade the lot of them. Oh wait I see one good soul now, it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s @boonebgorges !
In reply to: member dont get emailWhat BP/WP versions are you on? WP Single or multisite? BP installed in root or secondary blog? Hosting company? Hosted on Windows or Linux? Any BP/WP registration plugins turned on?
@pascoa341 I would recommend finding resolution at WordPress Multisite Forums https://wordpress.org/support/forum/multisite – it would involve changing URL’s within SQL file and changing some lines in .htaccess file.
In reply to: Events Manager for BuddyPress@netweblogic Yeah, Otto et al have certainly beefred up the WP.org forums both for users and plugin authors. And, thanks for being proactive in upgrading your plugins
There’s no favoriting for the bp.org forums at this time. Perhaps, when @johnjamesjacoby rolls out the new bbPress plugin, that issue could be addressed then. In the meantime, https://buddypress.org/community/groups/creating-extending/feed/ for this group. In reply to: @mention explination javascript dropdown ERRORDon’t quite get what you mean, I checked out http://oldfartsinc.com/members/admin/ with {OFI} Admin as display name. Northing wrong using FF, Chrome or even IE6
In reply to: how to edit menus? The navigation menu is in the header.php starting here https://trac.buddypress.org/browser/tags/1.2.5.2/bp-themes/bp-default/header.php#L46
You can change the links by creating a Child Theme so your revisions won’t be overwritten when BP is upgraded.
You won’t find the BP menus in the Appearance > Menu unless you revise the links in navigation menu an code navigation menus function in your theme’s functions.php file and add the template tag for that in header.php – https://codex.wordpress.org/Navigation_Menus
You can also try out this plugin – https://buddypress.org/community/groups/add-all-nav-links-to-bp-adminbar/home/In reply to: Photography website. some uncertain thingsHi @dzulfriday The BP Gallery plugin by @sbrajesh can accomplish what you need. It’s a premium plugin at this time. Don’t let the RC version deter you, many of us have been using it in live sites since early this year and support by Brajesh is excellent – the plugin is updated per BP/WP upgrades etc. The Site Admin can allow or disallow user-created albums and can limit album creation by groups only or by users only or both if you prefer. And so much more features are available and working.
@jhansensd Agree with @hnla. You asked for advice and that’s the standard one that you’ll get to isolate what the conflict is. You might also want to check out
https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration
Then if all’s well with BP plugin, you activate your custom theme and see how it works out. install the other WP plugins one by one to find out which one is conflicting with BP.EDIT – took too long to answer, two already did
Congratulations again! Kudos. We’re all excited as well
In reply to: Group Avatar@whitbyglennk codebases of WP single and WPMU were merged in version WP 3.0. You can now enable multisite (create a network) from WP 3.0+ installation. If you are considering going multisite, you must fix any path or permissions problems you have in single WP install (at WordPress.org forums) before Creating a Network. And, you must Create a Network and test it per link I gave you above BEOFRE installing BuddyPress, otherwise it’s going to be a bumpy ride
EDIT – too slow posting
In reply to: First Steps with BP…@keithmarsh before installing BuddyPress, make sure that your WP is working well after you’ve moved your WP to root.
https://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress
btw, Giving WordPress its own directory method does not work for multisite and I haven’t seen it work for BuddyPress even if you have WP single site.In reply to: Group Avatar@whitbyglennk At first glance, seems to me like an upload path problem when you haven’t configured WP/multisite correctly – https://codex.buddypress.org/getting-started/before-installing/#wp-configuration
Q1: Group Avatars – if you’re on multisite and BP is installed at root, group avatars go to wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/group-avatars
Q2: What folders and in which places? The avatars and group avatars folders are automatically generated. I would suggest checking your site’s .htaccess file since I have only seen this kind of problem if multisite is not configured correctly https://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#Step_6:_Super_Admin_Settings
