You’ve already answered your question. The options are plugins like Gravity Forms or custom coding.
In reply to: Show nav items for profile users conditionallybp_core_remove_nav_item()
In reply to: This is the worst forum in the worldGo to your profile edit screen. Change name field to something other than login name. Then your future forum posts show on your profile.
In reply to: problem with BuddyMobile pluginSorry, can’t do your work for you. If you edit the plugin. You are on your own.
In reply to: problem with BuddyMobile pluginDon’t be presumptuous on how long coding takes.

Are you referring to the activity link in the menu drop down ?
I’ll add support for album +. I removed the button before iOS6 but now uploads work
In reply to: Front End User BlogCan you edit title of this topic to say “front end user blog”
I am developing a paid plugin for front end user blogs but its a few months away from release
In reply to: Where is your full feature list hiding?That is the full featured list. But there are extensible APIs that you can extend any of these core components. There are hundreds of plugins for BuddyPress.
In reply to: Front End User BlogI mean if its not available you have to create it yourself.
In reply to: Front End User BlogUsers can only have a blog if you use Multisite or add them to the blog BP is installed on. Gravity Forms allows users not added to a blog to add posts from the front end. You could then loop out the posts from each user as a blog post attaches id of submitter.
This is just one possible solution. You could also create a BuddyPress component.
In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change!Seems like an easy fix then. Yes?
In reply to: Front End User BlogWhat about using gravity forms for front end blog posting?
In reply to: Settings > Social Media SettingsDo you mean profile fields?
Users > Profile fields
In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change!Is there a security issue if the the hard coded string included php
Hardcode links as:
`http:// /groupname`In reply to: how to update 1.2.6 to 1.5.x to 1.6You could even step each 1.5 version. Use the first 1.5 then upload last 1.5.
In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change!The main reason the slugs are hard coded is that having the entire activity item in one db field is speed. Though it might be just as easy to hardcore the link with php for slug output.
If you change slug any new activity items will have correct URL. Just old items will be broken
In reply to: Mobile inquiry – high demandYou should provide a responsive site when a user visits. This is the simplest thing you can do for your users. BP default has some responsiveness.
You can use current BP mobile if you want something more dedicated. I am working on a different solution to accessing BP content from mobile devices. It’s taking longer because I am creating a sorta API to access the content so developers can access the content how they want instead of an all or nothing approach. I want cross platform posting and this takes even more time, working out security issues.
The mobile core/API will be a seperate plugin that is getting open sourced and hopefully in the future could be an official BP component with others working on it. I will create an example “app” to connect to the mobile API. All this takes a lot of time. In about a week there will be a preliminary example app to show what’s going to be possible.
echo bp_core_fetch_avatar( ‘item_id=’.get_post_author_id() );
In reply to: how to update 1.2.6 to 1.5.x to 1.6You are correct, up grade to 1.5 by de activating BP and all plugins then erase contents of BP folder upload 1.5 then reactivate. Make sure 1.5 works before upgrading 1.5 to 1.6. As always back up db
Avatar upload is only after the user has activated their account. There is a trac ticket to add this function back but it might not get added.
If you are wanting people to add an avatar when they log in. You can have the user get redirected to the change avatar page. This would have to be coded by you or a developer.
You can add any profile fields to the members-loop.php go into that file and scroll down to this text:
/***
* If you want to show specific profile fields here you can,
* but it’ll add an extra query for each member in the loop
* (only one regardless of the number of fields you show):
*
* bp_member_profile_data( ‘field=the field name’ );
*/Download the template pack plugin to your desktop and then you can get the file https://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/bp-template-pack/
In reply to: What plugin is this site using?There is this plugin, however, it’s not for BP users even though it’s marked for BP usage. You can get an idea from it’s code what it would take to create a plugin for BP.
In reply to: What plugin is this site using?You would need HTML, php and CSS basics
In reply to: Changing slugs with bp-custom.php: No change!Activity items are hard coded so links will not change to new slug. You would have to write a script to go through all activity items and switch out URL from string.
In reply to: What plugin is this site using?I don’t think it’s a plugin. Custom code but doing something like that is not difficult.
