In reply to: Buddypress Template Pack issue
Is this only happening when you activate BP? I’m seeing a lot of plugins calling various .js files.
Thanks @r-a-y
In reply to: Buddypress Template Pack issueSee if in the file jquery.qtip.style.js in the code shown below change $ to jquery. Might be a conflict.
$(document).ready(function() {
$(‘#subfeatures li a[title]’).qtip({
show: ‘mouseover’,
hide: ‘mouseout’,
position: {
corner: {
target: ‘topMiddle’,
tooltip: ‘topMiddle’,
},
adjust: {
x: 0, y: -40
}
},
style: {
width: 180,
padding: 5,
background: ‘#434240’,
color: ‘#f2efe8’,
textAlign: ‘center’,
border: {
width: 5,
radius: 5,
color: ‘#434240’
},
tip: ‘bottomMiddle’,
name: ‘dark’
}
})
});In reply to: Hide / Remove Page from Top-MenueIn reply to: Child themeIn reply to: Child themeChild themes work like this: Say you have a house and you want it to look different, you would then buy paint and furniture and curtains to make it loo different but the walls and roof and floors still look he same and are in the same place. The parent theme is the walls and floors and those never change.
Basically the child theme is a way to tell word press to use all the files from a theme but make certain changes you want in a separate theme that way the parent theme files are never changed. If you do need to change one of the parent files then you copy that file over to the child folder and it will override the parent file.
header.php in a child theme folder will override header.php in the parent theme folder. Make a mistake? No biggie you can just copy the parent header.php over to the child theme again since you never edit the parent files.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy: Can we get it in core?@mercime because this is important.
In reply to: How To List 100 Forum Topicsdid you try per_page=100 ?
Do you mean a different home page when logged in or you just want activity on home page? That’s easily done by going to settings > reading in admin and then choosing activity stream as the static front page.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy: Can we get it in core?This is not a forum for bashing @jeffsayre. Please keep it on topic by discussing adding privacy to the core of BuddyPress.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy: Can we get it in core?The comments to Jeff were completely uncalled for but really this is an opportune time to add this functionality since the plugin is being dropped. Who knows maybe Jeff is overwhelmed, he did say he had help at the beginning. Maybe by it moving to core he can still contribute as can others.
In reply to: BuddyPress Privacy: Can we get it in core?I’m not excluding BP devs creating their own core privacy functionality. I think this is something very much needed or people wouldn’t be in such hot debate over why or why not @jeffsayre hasn’t released it. That said I just figured if jeff’s plugin is worthwhile to be integrated then add it otherwise create an internal solution.
Waiting to see if Jeff’s plugin is also kinda silly because he is dropping support. I wouldn’t want to rely on just anyone creating a privacy solution. So, i’m tossing it out there to have it added to core either from jeff’s plugin or create from scratch that way it will work and work well. Allowing plugins to use the functionality from core not the other way around. Privacy is something that the FCC cracks down on on major sites. It’s that important.
In reply to: Hide / Remove Page from Top-MenueThere are exclude page plugins for this but the next version of BP includes custom drop down menus that you can adjust via admin.
In reply to: BuddyPress Theme ModificationYes, in the file footer.php you can remove that content and replace it with your own.
In reply to: New Buddypress site: searching for some pluginsYup, that’s it. It’s the only plugin I know that adds to forums.
In reply to: buddypress after installation not active in frontendYou need to use a BuddyPress compatible theme. Just activating BuddyPress on a WordPress site is not enough.

In reply to: New Buddypress site: searching for some pluginsBuddyPress forum topic extras plugin adds some things.
In reply to: buddypress after installation not active in frontendWhy upload a blank .htaccess file? You don’t need to do this WP edits that file for you. If you do not have the buddypress default them activated that could be the problem. BuddyPress must have a compatible theme.
In reply to: Forums Posting Problems: The definitive postHow ’bout those manual installs….

Love it but I’d suggest taking a similar UI stance as i’ve done with my share it plugin and not have a larger button. Instead have a button that simply says RATE and then a slide down with the info. For one this would keep the activity stream clean.
In reply to: page comments in buddypressMake sure the page.php file looks like this http://paste.ly/4Dyc
Note: the comments template part
In reply to: Forums Posting Problems: The definitive postI want to add that one click software could be outdated. Best to get WP from wordpress.org so you know you have the most up to date software.
This might help its for groups but I think you get the idea props @r-a-y
Or you could do a language file
In reply to: Forums Posting Problems: The definitive post@cmroybal When software is tried and true like WordPress and you have issues at install. It’s usually the install process. That’s why I suggest a different install method. also the same thing has happened to me before with one clicks and now I never use them.
In reply to: A little CSS help on ForumsThats custom html. You’ll have to edit theme files. No simple CSS.
