  • Sociable for WordPress 3.0 works on BP.unfortunately Like button is on pro version only. On the other hand Facebook share still works.

not at all. we are talking about posts not profiles or activity streams.

fine but we need something dynamic to be put on every post on the BuddyPress site. on forums, groups etc…

no one is using Facebook Like?

thanks. that helped. though that topic is not very helpful and doesn’t explain what to do for BuddyPress.

for non-English users, I will try to explain here.

via phpmyadmin go to your database. find wp_bb_topics table. click on structure. change all collation values to “utf8_general_ci”

do the same for wp_bb_posts table as well.

    c) Rich media is obviously the most important feature of any so-called “social networking” software. How could the developers of BuddyPress even consider releasing the software without it?

this I can’t understand as well. How can you call BuddyPress “social networking” software without the ability of adding photos&videos? Activity streams are nice but worth nothing without sharing photos and videos.

I believe that BuddyPress should have the feature of adding photos, videos and links. We call this “Social networking” software, right?

So how can’t it have this feauture? This seemed really ridicolus to me when I first realized that BuddyPress doesn’t have this BASIC feature.

everybody is using cPanel. that can’t be the reason.

no I didn’t. If I do there will be 2 logins. this is not the case. Plugin should put the button under current login of BuddyPress default login.

I just tried this plugin. I don’t see any Facebook connect button… using BuddyPress 1.2.1

this is not a plugin? this is a script of it’s own.

the answer is certainly WordPress. If giving blogs to your users is not a must WordPress is the pnly answer.

Why? Because MU adds tables for every user and you get a huge database at the end. You will need a VPS for MU at least.

I’m not asking here anything. I’m not the owner of this thread. it’s just interesting for me. the plugin you mentioned is not related with this thread either.

    I was looking for same.

Could it be possible to have something like Facebook or Badoo does ? importing contacts from email addresses ?

    @itoube

if he’s using WP instead of WPMU then the answer to “How do users make blog posts?” is “they just can’t”.

they can do blog posts. just change the user role and they post. He is not talking about giving blogs to users. He is talking about writing to site as a writer.

@itoube he’s using WordPress not WordPress MU.

question is interesting for me too.
