In reply to: Re-arrange sitewide activity new blog post output
there is a filter on the $activity_action that is pushed into the activity record bp_blogs_activity_new_post_action
In reply to: Add “Favorite” button to website comments?A user can only “favorite” the activity record for that new_blog_post or new_blog_comment made within the activity stream part of buddypress – when a user views the main blog that activity information is not pulled in. (i have an experimental plugin which replaces all of the blog comments with activity stream)
Though it might be possible via a plugin to pull in and add that functionality to the blog portion (basically find the _ID() and comment_ID() and look it in the activity_records)
actually would be very simple – within a bp-custom.php file. have a look at the bp-core-templatetags.php file which contains some simple functions that determine what component/page you are on. Just need to hook that into bp and checked if logged in (if not, then redirect)
ie
bp_is_group()
bp_loggedin_user_id()
etcIn reply to: Activity stream as front page in BP 1.2.4, WP 3.0 b2did you file a trac ticket? (same login info here)
https://trac.buddypress.org/newticket(i can dup the same issue on a fresh single wp3b2 install)
In reply to: Time stamp message pages incorrectwhat version of BP? i had this problem with older versions (1.2.3+ has worked fine)
In reply to: Add “Favorite” button to website comments?There is a disconnect between activity stream “favorite” button and the actual blog comments/section

*Page 1 of results is not sorting properly, at least on testbp.org; something weird is going on. But if you click through to page 5, for example, it does sort by real name correctly (“Aaron Brazell, Aaron Castaneda, Aaron Chaote”, etc). If you look at the link to their profile, that uses the username (as is designed), and in the case of Aaron Brazell, as an example, you see his username is nothing like his real name. But not on page 1.This is obviously a bug, as the latter pages work, and this is useful feedback. The BuddyPress developers can only fix bugs if people report them (https://trac.buddypress.org/).
—@DJPaul – same issue related to this trac ticket?
https://trac.buddypress.org/ticket/1670In reply to: Upgraded to 1.2.4 and now No Blogs Showing!so is $current_site->id a WP3.0 thing? – obviously the sql statement pulls in nothing after the truncate.
BP can’t fill every feature gap nor everyone’s wishes – why plugins are created. Sure this can be easily done with bypassing some of the xprofile data (or create your own fields) and hook into the wp_usermeta first/last name. (even though xprofile is syncing that data)
In reply to: Ho to add a reply button for Topic posts ?there is nothing built-in to mimic the same ajax underneath the post used in the activity stream. you can modify the theme file groups/single/forum/topic.php and display the reply textarea on each page. (or maybe a reply button that just anchors down to the textarea)
In reply to: How do I enable “followers” instead of “friends”?@apeatling will be releasing it as a plugin soon (or at least what i’ve read a few times
)In reply to: How-To: Change ”Group Forums” slug…the groupname/forum is hardcoded (can only override component slugs)
In reply to: Upgraded to 1.2.4 and now No Blogs Showing!doing a merge of the 1.2.3 and 1.2.4 – looks like this function changed and is called during the installation process. I don’t run WPMU/MS – if anyone can verify this is the problem and submit a trac ticket

In reply to: BBCode with BBpresstry my group forums extras plugin (either shortcode or bbcode)
since there is attention on the extend section – i noticed the “last updated” is off by 15 hours. on one i just updated: “Last Update: 15 hours ago”
In reply to: Activity Stream Summarywell the content already hits bp_create_excerpt before updating the activity stream (maybe the default length is too long)
you can try hooking on the filters
apply_filters( ‘groups_activity_new_forum_post_content’, $activity_content, $post_id, $post_text, &$topic ),
apply_filters( ‘groups_activity_new_forum_topic_content’, $activity_content, $topic_text, &$topic ),and trim it down some more
In reply to: Member directory of Groups. Descending on activity.bp_group_has_members only has a few options – the underlying sql is limited to the user’s date_modified
In reply to: Extending Buddypress DB Tables Best Practicesi’d say the usermeta table
In reply to: Displaying forum topic tagsi use this and works as well
<div id=”topic-tags”>
<p><?php _e(‘Tags:’); ?></p>
<?php
$ttags = bb_get_topic_tags( bp_get_the_topic_id() );
if ( $ttags ) : ?>
<?php bb_list_tags( ‘topic=’. bp_get_the_topic_id() .’tags=’.$ttags ); ?>
<?php else : ?>
<p><?php printf(__(‘No <a href=”%s”>tags yet.’), bp_get_forum_directory_permalink() . ‘/#tags’ ); ?></p>
<?php endif; ?>

if you look at the Class BP_Activity_Activity and the get function – you can see what is being allowed.
In reply to: Space in username from WordPressdid you try enabling username compatibility mode?
https://buddypress.org/community/groups/how-to-and-troubleshooting/forum/topic/characters-in-usernames-cause-strange-issues/In reply to: Private communitiesnot ideal… but may help for the time being (at least get to the buddypress profile page to perform the edits)
this will add a ‘view bp’ link to the buddypress profile when viewing the user list within the dashboard
